He sets a mug of tea down beside the keyboard, leaning lazily on his cane as he glances at Q.

“I know.” He says quietly, watching the door of the office rather than looking at how frustrated Q is becoming.

“Try warming your hands up. They ache worse in the cold.”

He appreciates the tea, he really does. But he’s too grouchy, far too frustrated, to say so. He wants to smash the keyboard. He doesn’t, it wouldn’t help anything. It’s still undeniably tempting though. 

At the suggestion, Q wraps his hands around the mug of tea, and felt the tea radiating from the mug. It does feel nice, it doesn’t ease the ache, at least not yet. He supposes he’d let them get too cold. 

“I have some heating pads somewhere... I’ll have to find them.” He comments off hand, his frustration starting to ease. John’s presence, and his lack of sympathy - it was the sympathy that got him, the pitying looks - certainly helps. He lifts the cup of tea, taking a hesitant sip. It was good, brewed to perfection. His staff, they tried bless them, they never got it quite right. 

“It’s been six weeks, they should be healed by now.”

He murmured his thanks and almost chuckled. “Now Ms Adler, it’s only right the tables are turned at least once.” He teased back, finding the criminal compelling. Far more so than he thought he would. Perhaps it’s the Holmes’ downfall, to be compelled by vivacious, brilliant minds. He took a moment to sip at his drink. “I find you are an anomaly, and anomalies are... most curious.” He said slowly, nodding his head in regards to her statement about his brother. “Sherlock won’t admit a lot of things, his regard for you is just one of many.”
