Over the years I have faced many ups and downs, just like everyone else. Sometimes it really gets to me how mean people can be to each other. How mean I can be to myself. But for all the Level 1 Trans Fighters out there please know with acceptance, mindfulness, and self compassion I did in fact find my balance. Not a fast process. Basically a complete lifestyle change. Sometimes I lose that balance, sure. But when I choose to present my authentic identity? I’m objectively drop dead gorgeous. Here are a hand full of my looks. I’ve always loved this comic. Even though I didn’t go one thing at a time, it was definitely a process of baby steps for me too. Incremental progress, but still progress.

once, a guy in my dorms came back from a hazing for a sport that you wouldn't think is the kind to do hazing. he was bloodied, crying, throwing up, and he had to be carried by two older students.
the conceit of the hazing was― they got the freshers drunk, and told them all that the person who ran hardest at the wall would avoid the hazing.
staring at a task, willing yourself to do it, is like running at that wall as hard as you can. it is, by design, not going to work. you will get bodily fluids on your sheep onesie.
you have a mind that lends itself perfectly to switching between tasks. let it wander. let it return in time, fresh and ready. if you keep running at that wall, you will get nothing in return but guilt and a headache.

with adhd, the easiest way to make a goal feel impossible is telling yourself you will do x thing every day from now on no matter what.
good news: this also works for obsessive habits you want to break. nothing makes you want to procrastinate on using social media more than giving yourself a specific goal about how to use it.
you could tell yourself to post 10 times or like thirty posts or use x feature every day or something. maube set a timer, and force yourself to not leave the app until 20 minutes have passed. you will be desperate to do anything else after that.
the negative brain patterns you have programmed into the 'i must do this' categories in your life can be hacked into the things you want to stop doing. you have that power. you've learned the techniques already, now you can apply them to the things you want to use them on

sleep clothes aren't mandatory and getting changed in the morning can delay the day by hours. before you go to bed, just change into the clothes you would usually spend the day in. you can always change again once you're up and about and it feels less herculean a task.

This seems really whiny to me. Like, I agree with you, work sucks, but our ancestors didn’t get to browse tumblr at their desks or have the option to gleefully spend their ENTIRE WEEKENDS horizontal on the couch stuffing their faces/watching tv/playing video games/wacking off. They didn’t have weekends. They just slaved away as fucking peasants from dawn to dusk until they died in childbirth or got the consumption.
I am perfectly happy working 8 hrs a day because I don’t have to:
grow my own food
find my own clean water
heat my house
shit in the woods
Hi, I study social and cultural anthropology. Humans working 40+ hours a week is 100% an industrial revolution thing and was not normal in the early stages of our existence. In fact, hunter and gatherer societies that still exist to this day spend about 15-20 hours a week TOPS working. The rest is dedicated to sitting around and telling stories and jokes, dancing, singing, eating, sleeping, fucking and so forth. Read a damn book.

I'm sitting here boggling at the idea of spending more than $30 on a purse, when i could put that money towards so many other things.
$300 is pricey for a bag, but I’ve spent more than that on video games, so it’s hard for me to be judgey about it. They’re good sized bags, with a simple design that you could wear with a ton of stuff and won’t go out of style quickly. If they’re really good quality, they could outlast a number of my cheapo bags, since I go through a few of those a year (when I left the house). You would definitely have to have the money up front, though. (Hello, Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness.) The designer is Liberian-American, though, so you’d be supporting a Black-owned business.
But I haven’t seen any mention of this brand before, memes or no, so why has this suddenly shown up on Tumblr? Especially since it’s pretty low priced compared to a lot of designer names. Let me google!
