Regarding the Parkland, Florida Shooting
These kids were laying on their backs, on the grass, under the flag of the United States. Their arms were crossed over their chests and their eyes were closed- as though they were in a coffin. They were just kids. Their whole lives were school and each other; nothing has started yet. They haven’t had the chance to live, to take every opportunity given to them.
But, hell, they have heartbreak. They were on their backs because they were in a photoshoot for an article talking about their dead friends. That’s a whole new level of pain.
The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. In the case of the Parkland, Florida shooting, this is true.
Take seventeen students and teachers, on the brink of their lives, filled to the brim with potential and dreams. Take a boy and his gun, stopping their energy arch at its peak. Potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy: the ball is now rolling.
Kinetic energy fills Emma Gonzalez as she yelled into a microphone. Her arch’s peak was there, at that moment, in that 11 and a half minute speech. She then fell, momentarily, and there are pictures of her, eyes still screwed up in anger or grief, but maybe they’re the same thing, her face pressed into the shoulder of a person whose back is to the camera. Her kinetic energy is transferred to her audience in the form of potential energy.
17 people worth of potential energy is moved to the thousands of protesters flooding Washington D.C. and to the dozens of students who met with President Trump and government officials and to millions nationwide as they watch a movement unfold. We have yet to see their energy arch end.
Energy was neither created, nor destroyed, but the energy can still be lost if we do nothing. If we do not continue this cycle and produce tangible change rather than promises for it, there will be another shooting. It was not enough in 1999 after the Columbine shooting in which 13 people died. It was not enough in 2012 after the Sandy Hook shooting in which the average age of the student victims was 6 years old. Please, let this be enough. Let this be the last.
We are too young to experience grief. We are too young to be so heavy we cannot move, too young to only see our friends in our dreams, too young to be afraid too go to school. Let this be the last.

Angelina Jolie
If you’re ever lucky enough to find a girl who is a hopeless romantic with a dirty mind, you should hold onto that. Because she’ll be yours at two in the morning and at two in the afternoon the following day. She’ll kiss you where it hurts and until it hurts. And that’s important. Someone who not only knows how to turn you on but also knows how to treat you right is someone worth a little something… and a little more than usual.

You have so much more time. There are so many moments ahead of you, moments that will change everything; incredible moments that will make you forget all the bad seconds, hours, days, years.
date the person who says, “have fun, be safe, and call if you need anything” not the person who gets mad at you for going out w/o them
