*Sketchy notes on* Mohaloya. What "Durga pujo" feels to a bengali is somewhat equivalent to what "biskhut" (biscuit) feels to chaa (tea). One could do away with each other but it's always magic when together! Today, marks the beginning of "Devi paksha" as they say. A day when the festive spirit starts to bubbles inside. After all, "maa ashche"!!! As a child, every year, this day, I would witness every household up by 4.00am, with excitement in their eyes and passion in their voice while tuning in to " Akashbani" (radio broadcast) on their old radio set and listen to " Mahisashur mordini" narrated by Shri Birendra Krishna Bhadra. Sleep hungry kids like me, would have to be injected with tonic of enthusiasm or sometimes bribed with treats after. But, as years pasted, when I look back, to this day, I miss three of us circling around the radio set every year. Now, smart phones have replaced those radio sets and online streaming sites has promised access to a sea of contents on the go at any even point of time. Hence, we don't need to be up at those pre-dawn hours and we don't need to circle around anymore. But, the charm still breathes... Does it, really? . . . #sketchynotes #randomthoughts #profoundcraziness #sketchbook #sketch #art #drawing #doodle #ink #blackandwhite #90s #family #radio #mohalaya #durgapuja #bengali #festival #india https://www.instagram.com/p/CFPXzqUAKbC/?igshid=1a4veaantom7a
