I keep seeing the "chat is a fourth person pronoun" post and it's getting increasingly hard to avoid starting discourse in the notes of it. chat I don't think they know what these linguistics terms they're using mean

it's literally just a noun. the reason it grammatically doesn't feel like it means the same thing as any existing pronoun and must be in a different category is that it's not a pronoun. it's in the same class of word as "gang" or "folks" or "ladies and gentlemen". there's nothing new going on here it's just an ordinary noun being used like a noun.

when will we collectively accept that the problem with child molestation is not some amorphous inherent evil in an age gap over a certain number of years, it's that you are abusing & taking advantage of a member of a disadvantaged class so physically, socially, and legally powerless that they literally cannot even say no to you.

i am sorry if it makes you flinch to say it in such bald and stark terms, but a 23-year-old having sex with a 50-year-old is in no way, shape, or form comparable to child molestation, because 23-year-olds are not a brutally dispossessed class who are at a massive physical disadvantage and legally required to follow every directive an adult gives them. 23-year-olds are not physically underdeveloped to the point that every 50-year-old who comes in contact with them can 100% physically control them with ease, they are legally permitted to own property and engage in commerce, they are legally considered citizens and not property of an adult.

the problem with acting like molesting children falls under the amorphous moral umbrella of "age gap relationships" is that it conceals the actual damage that child molestation does to children; the trauma that it conveys on them because it is a weapon of power, one which reifies the traumatic and abusive adult-child power relationship.
