Two things to remember in life: Take care of your thoughts when you are alone, and take care of your words when you are with people.

18.1 in the books!
No cherry-picking my workouts
I was very good at maintaining a more or less fixed schedule - resting when I was too sore, but otherwise hitting workouts consistently. Very pleased with that.
Decided on Tue and Thu, those will be WOD days. Sat or Sun will be for practicing skills. I will still look what is programmed, but that only will be to prepare. Next Tuesday, it’s power snatch. I am terrified, bc last time, my form was atrocious, I wasn’t able to touch the bar with my hips and the bar travelled too far away from my body. Also, every time the bar went down, I pulled a bit my right shoulder.
So I decided I am NOT going to skip that WOD. Hell no.
I tried some hang snatches today, just with the bar. I am not sure whether i became stronger, or just got better at the movement, but the experience overall was so different.
i also had to test how much I can deadlift for 10+ reps, as in two weeks it’s planned:
21-15-9 for time
deadlifts
box step ups
So you know, just to be prepared.
Overall, happy with my training today. My upper body is still very sore, but 2 days of active recovery for me, YAY!
Passion for the work
By Ralph Marston Stop waiting for the time to be right. Use the time you have, and make it the right time by virtue of what you do with it.
Don't wait to be inspired before doing the work. Go ahead, do the work, and your efforts will create plenty of inspiration.
Conditions are the way they are, and you feel whatever way you feel. None of that has to stop you from doing what you must do.
The best way to feel like doing it, is to get started. Get started, keep going, and just one short hour from now you'll have some powerful positive momentum.
You can't expect passion to suddenly well up within you. What you can do is create passion for the work by actually doing the work.
If you're feeling uninspired, that's a sure sign that the best thing you can do is take action. Take action, and you'll have the inspiration you seek.

The worst training of the month so far. (Note to myself: respect your body, don't train while half sick.)
Shitty sleep...
... makes for shitty recovery. (I am so sore).
It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.

Did I tell you I love and hate my coach at the same time? I love him, bc we did some sitting on the floor muscle up progression with rings on elastic bands. I hate him, because after a crazy workout he made us to do a finisher of 30! Slam balls and 30 side power throws. I channeled my hate to throw even more with power, obviously. (No, I didn't. 😭) No I am not working out tomorrow. I am dead. My arms are dead.
Skin the cat
Today’s plan was to work on skillllzzz, and skin the cat was on the list. I made it! Today was the first time, but I made it!!! Huzzah.
I know what I will be practicing like crazy the whole month :) Such a pity I didn’t record a video for comparison, taking my phone to the gym floor, unless it’s for timing and the big crossfit clock is taken, is just tacky. In my opinion. (I’ll have to change that opinion.) It’s such an overall great exercise for shoulders, core and lats. Love it love it love it.
A friendly guy helped me with tips on my static holds. He had background in parkour and gymnastics, but he was friendly and not arrogant.
I didn’t want to kill myself today as I planned two days of WODs in a row, but needed to include a little finisher to get that “feeling so good” feeling:
jump rope
dumbell snatches

Poured myself a big cup of chai, ready to tackle that huge mess of life I’ve created in the past weeks.
It started snowing outside. There is something about the snow falling down, so quietly, softly and predictably. I wish it would snow more often here, this is the first “real” snow of the season.
Can I rant a bit? All of a sudden I got all the “following” notifications on Instagram from people I know on FB. The whole magic of my instagram account was that it was unfiltered, I would post honest snippets, using it as a journal of sorts. I used a special email address, that I don’t use on any other social media. Never tried to “link to FB”. WTF FB? Why and how* are you doing this?
*Well, you have more data on me than my own mother does, that’s how.
Yesterday’s highlight: workout. No heavy, no skills, pure 30 min torture. I was “lucky” to start with burpees, I don’t think i would make it if they would be at the end. I usually love KB swings, but man, having them at the end, even my grip failed.
My coach was not impressed with my rowing technique, even rowing by my side for a while.
BUT: I made my first pistol squat today!!! only right leg. Damn. I am so proud. I think I screamed of joy.
The mess in my life is not only the physical one, that I can see all around me :D but i’ll transform into a cleaning freak witch for the next 3 hours. It helps me to sit down, in a clean flat, to tackle the bigger, emotional fish.

I’ve been hitting consistently two crossfit workouts a week, or at least one crossfit and one strength training session by myself. feels soooo good. Q4 of 2017, I had Lindy hop classes twice a week... so with work and all that jazz I wasn’t able to do more than one sesh.
Barbell roll outs. Can I just pause for a moment and complain about how hard they are? Had them in combo with pendlay rows last Saturday. My goodness gracious. I couldn’t get up from bed how sore my abs were on Sunday.
My only resolution this year is getting enough sleep. Because last year sucked in that department. And it’s been going so so.
Nothing in this world is permanent, and we’re foolish when we ask anything to last, but surely we’re still more foolish not to take delight in it while we have it.
