They’re the cutest cast.

maddie-duchannes:
“Oh no, go ahead. I just have a habit of taking up two seats whenever i’m here working. You’re more than welcome to sit.” Maddie said sorting the files and putting them next to her.
“That’s okay, I get it,” said Andie with a polite smile. People didn’t think she ever had paperwork to do, but they would be surprised if they knew just how much of it she saw, specially in between deployments. “So what do you do?” She asked after sitting down, referring to the work the other brunette had mentioned.
jackacoop:
“I think they like it.” He paused, “being ignorant. Then they don’t have to be a part of the world.”
Andie laughed shortly, nodding her head agreeably. “Yeah... definitely. They just kind of think it’s an excuse to be an asshole, you know? All like well, I didn’t know.” She sighed. Ignorance wasn’t always bliss.
elliefeatherstcne:
Ellie was far from herself these days, and she hadn’t been for a long time. The last instance she remembered feeling like who she was, was back when she could still dance — that was more than six months ago now, and it was still driving her crazy, how she couldn’t do anything she used to anymore because of her damn knee injury. Did it affect her recognising old friends? It shouldn’t, but it took her too long to realise who she was talking to. When she did though, she felt shameful immediately. “Andie… I’m so sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me,” she admitted and sighed. “No no, it’s okay… I just… It’s just those damn reporters. They’re like vultures, just swarming around everywhere.”
“It’s fine,” said Andie and waved her hand around to show it as well. She was very used to people not recognising her to be honest - most probably because she wasn’t usually this much around town. She used to fly in for Christmas and sometimes she spent a couple of days here in between deployment, but that was it. The fact that Ellie didn’t recognise her immediately wasn’t strange to her. “Sorry about that. I know exactly what you mean though, but a good trick is to threaten them with lawsuits.” After her sister had returned onto American soil, Andie had her fair share of encounters with reporters, and knew exactly what a pain in the ass it could be.
lilysilvax:
“You know, that’s very plausible.” Lilith told the brunette with a nod of her head since free shit made the world turn around, and if she could guilt the other to take the box — well, she wasn’t above that shit either. “I think you should just shut up and stay on my team. My mother is the devil incarnate.”
“Right? I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff?” Andie laughed, even though she really wasn’t too keen on taking the box. Maybe she was a little out of curiosity but also to help out the other woman. “Fair enough.” She laughed and mentally promised herself to always stay on the other’s team. Who wanted to side with the devil incarnate anyway? “Your mum sounds delightful.” She said jokingly.
nicartwright:
This was nothing new to Nic. The pain he felt was almost like second nature. And therefore, he could almost ignore it. Almost. He smirked at the brunette, as he shook his head, “How about we just stick with the getting drunk part? I don’t want to be touched, and I can’t promise I won’t swing if you try. Proceed at your own risk.” He told her, the smile fading a bit, more into something somewhat sad. “Your poison?”
The amount of times someone had tried to take a swing at Andie was uncountable now - or at least she had stopped counting a long time ago. “Please-” she said and chuckled. “You can try, but I doubt it will work. As long as you don’t shoot me, I think we’ll be fine.” She thought about it for a moment though, hesitating when it came to answering his question. “How about we have two rounds, and then you let me take a look? Don’t worry, I’ll be quick.” She promised with a wink before pointing a finger at the nearest bottle of Jim Beam.
maddie-duchannes:
It had started raining out, and Maddie was staring at it hitting the ground and making puddles as it landed. Hearing a sound next to her, the brunette turned and looked at the person. “I am so sorry. Here let me move these.” She said moving the files out of the other seat.
“It’s okay,” said Andie and smiled politely. It was the only seat left in the place, and she was in desperate need of a hideout until the rain stopped or at least lessened. “You’re not saving the seat for someone?” She asked, gripping the back of it but making no further move to sit down before she knew for sure it was free.
nicartwright:
“Lets make a deal,” Nic began, as he looked up at the person before him. “— You don’t ask, and I’ll buy you a drink. If you happen to have a towel and/or ice pack, with some damn aspirin. I’ll get you the whole damn bar.”
“That’s not gonna work,” said Andie and shook her head. “I mean, the first part of the deal will work - I promise not to ask questions, but and ice pack and aspirin won’t be enough.” She said firmly. Her voice took that professional edge it got sometimes when she was tending to an injured soldier, or teaching combat medics in training. She watched him, assessing his injuries. “Your nose. I might have to give it a tug. You wanna get drunk first?”
mimiburak:
The good part of having days off was not driving into the city, which entitled not being as exhausted and actually going out of her home for some human interaction. There she was in the pick hour at the bar, enjoying of, well, a few to many drinks. She was already loopy and laughed at mostly anything anyone said. “Well, if I didn’t know better I say you’re trying to compete with my drinking, in which case I have to say you will win because I’m not very exceptional at handling my liquor.” She said with her tick accent, that only seemed ticker when she drank.
Andie had to concentrate to catch everything the dark haired woman was saying to her, but she actually did understand. She was just extra intrigued because she couldn’t place her accent. “I’m always in a competition with myself when it comes to drinking.” She said and drained another glass, already motioning for another one before it hit the counter again. She had been in a foul mood all day, but it was getting better. “Where’s that accent from?” She asked blatantly.
elliefeatherstcne:
“You’re not following me, are you?” Ellie said after turning around to face the person who had been walking behind her for a little while. She was used to reporters waiting by her childhood home to ask about her parents’ divorce, and the fact that it was recently disclosed to not only Ellie, but the world too, that her dad wasn’t actually her biological one. “If you’re a reporter then please go find someone else to annoy, I’m not gonna talk to you,” she said, paranoid as ever.
“No Ellie, I’m not following you,” said Andie and looked skeptically at the young woman like she might be drunk or hosting an alien perhaps. Maybe it had been a long time since they last saw each other, but at least Andie still recognised her. “Has someone been bothering you? You know you can report it to the police, right? If the reporters keep following you around.”
ellaportermitchell:
“Yeah, I think I’ll be fine,” Ella said. “Time heals all wounds, right? I think I just need a little time.” She smiled at Andie. “Thanks, though. I appreciate it.” She looked out at Scout again, watching him play. “Or maybe I’ll just google pictures of cute animals and I won’t even need time,” Ella added.
“I should say yes, but I really don’t agree with that saying at all. Sure, time does have a factor when it comes to getting over stuff, but I don’t believe for a second it heals all wounds, you know? Some maybe.” She shrugged. She was probably being a little crass, but she spoke from her mind as usual. “Googling pictures of cute animals though-” she laughed, “that’s the way to go. That might actually heal all wounds.”
riley-m:
“He’s like, in his early 30s? I couldn’t tell you the exact number. I have better things to remember.” She shrugged, she’d heard his irresponsible teenager story, and if she remember the age of his kid she could just count up to his age, but again, she didn’t remember that much either. “Lucky for me, I’m never having kids do I don’t have to worry about it.” She shrugged, not by genetics, but by choice, however, that wasn’t really something that she advertised. People were fucking raged about how great kids were in this town. “Well, that’s hella unfortunate, for both of us, because me either.”
“Well shit...” Andie made a grimace at the thought. She couldn’t even imagine having a child now, let alone as a teenager. In fact she wasn’t even sure she wanted kids ever. It was like the other brunette echoed her thoughts, and Andie couldn’t help feel a little grateful even though it occurred to her she didn’t know the details. “You don’t want kids?” She asked. “Well with a great business idea as ours, I’m sure we don’t even need to business savvy.”
presleymartin:
“Yeah, but you know…sometimes moving on can be quite difficult, even if the relationship wasn’t perfect…there are decent memories.” She played with the end of her hair and sighed, “I didn’t love him, it was just a…business relationship for my parents and his. After things happened and I left town, I guess I didn’t get the chance to say bye or some shit like that.”
“Sure,” said Andie even though she didn’t actually know. She had only ever been in love once, and even though the breakup hurt, she had moved on anyway, and so had the guy. She supposed it was different from person to person though, and she wasn’t going to be the person who judged people for having their own feelings. But then again... when she mentioned it being a business relationship, it was hard for Andie not to judge a little. “You didn’t love him, and now you’re enraged he’s engaged to someone who probably does?”
jackacoop:
“That he did.” Jackson agreed. “And they think they’re saving them. Then well– on top of that, they’ll either end up back at the pound, or who knows what else. And at the end of the day, I may not like dogs all that much, but I feel sorry for them with some people.”
“Yeah...” Andie sighed and looked out at Scout running around like a maniac, despite his age getting up there and his arthritis. At least he was one of the lucky dogs who had had a good life. “It’s a shame, isn’t it? How ignorant people can be. Even those with the best of intentions.”
lilysilvax:
Lilith nodded her head as she peered down at the box of things that she’d been attempting to hand over to the other. “Yeah,” she nodded her head. It was as close to free as one could get, except Lilith believed that whomever took it would probably have a price to pay but that was her own mind playing tricks on her. “You probably made a good choice, but yeah, she’s a little bit delusional.”
“Well I hope so. Though who knows? Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and feel nothing but regret because I didn’t except the box of free shit,” said Andie and laughed a little, clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth when she was done. She was still contemplating whether to take the box just to see what a mother thought could buy forgiveness. “At least she’s trying, right? Or should I just shut up and stay on your team?” She joked.
jackacoop:
“It’s not a backbone of steel.” He shook his head, “I’ve never liked pets. I never wanted one. Not getting one was just convenient for me.” Maybe not so much for his son who yelled dog at ever dog he saw on the sidewalk, but hey, he grew up just fine without one. “They do though, people do do that.”
“Okay, so I take it back again.” Andie laughed lightly and shook her head a little from side to side. “And hey, your son survived without the dog, right? So no harm, no foul, and all that.” As much as she loved to grow up with a couple of dogs there, she was under no assumption that they were necessary to have a good childhood at all. To some, they would’ve just been a burden. “Yeah, people do that, because ninety percent of people are pretty stupid.”
thea-norell:
It was all a matter of time before the can of worms opened and all these truths and feelings came pouring out of either one of them—- their mom, she did it all the time, and it made it so much harder for Thea to go home and see her, especially with the absence of her dad hanging over the childhood home like a shroud of sadness, a painful reminder of exactly how much can change in the span of fifteen months. As much as she wanted to move on and be the version of herself everyone had said goodbye to in January 2016, Thea couldn’t— she would never be the same again, and the realization pained her too much for words, because she knew deep down, Andie and the rest of their family really needed that version of her back again; and the last thing she wanted to do, was to let them down again.
“Andie, dad died… he died when I was gone— he was the most physically fit and energetic 59 year old man in the world, and yet he had a heart attack. Because he was stressed out…” She looked up at her with tears pooling in her eyes, the two of them probably looking like a reflection of themselves. “I know you’ll never say it, but I know you’re thinking it—- I know you all thought it, and I can just imagine our neighbors, mom’s family, everyone… I can imagine them saying ‘well, no wonder he was stressed after everything he’s been through because of Thea’.” A sob loosened from deep within her chest, escaping her lips. “I killed dad, and you know it— I did this to mom, to you, to Aron and to Jake and Ollie…”
“Don’t you fucking dare Thea-” It was a threat, and even in the lacking light under the moon, Andie knew her sister could see how serious she was - but she also knew that Thea was as well. Just one look at her face and it was crystal clear that everything she said was something she felt deep inside, and truly. It never occurred to Andie that Thea would blame herself for their dad’s death - no one else did, but as she put it into words, her explanation, she could understand the reasoning behind the blame. It didn’t matter to Andie though, because she knew it wasn’t her cross to bear, not her fault to take on her, specially not after everything she had been through. Whether their dad would have lived longer if Thea had never been taken, no one could know. Maybe it wouldn’t have changed a thing, or maybe it would have - it was just one of those things that would have to remain a mystery and certainly not something to blame Thea for.
She hook her head at her sister and stood from their makeshift seats. “Thea- no one is saying that! No one is blaming you for what happened to that, and you have to stop thinking it was your fault, that any of this was your fault, because it’s not!” She grabbed her by the shoulders, resisting the need to shake her until she understood and listened. “You have done nothing wrong, and if you don’t start realising that soon, I don’t... I don’t know what to do. I need you to come back to me. I need you to look at me like you used to, and not avoid my gaze because you’re scared I see the guilt in your eyes. I’m not blind - I see it in your trembling hands, I see it in the back of your head, I can god damn see it in your shadow, and you have to stop-”
