born n raised in chicago, babey! moved to seoul with her family when she was 14, and started attending school there. was kinda shy because she’s a heritage speaker and felt awkward expressing her, so she started writing, and then eventually, drawing.
mom’s ur typical overachiever (had an econs degree she never used) and enrolled yuna in lots of supplementary classes when she was younger. when she found out yuna liked to draw, she enrolled her into a hagwon that did... absolutely nothing but waste her time. yuna ended up quitting and got into a huge fight with her mom about it, where some very hurtful words were said. mom brought her a fruit plate afterwards n neither of them ever apologised for it and are just pretending like nothing happened.
they focus their attention on lil bro, who’s much smarter than yuna. (was accepted to med school in uchicago recently!!!) in her second year of hs, mom moved back to chicago with lil bro to take care of her parents (also bc lil bro is a fucking genius when he’s doing the american syllabus lmaoo) & yuna stays in seoul w dad to finish high school up.
the first chapter of her manhwa is released in 2018 (3rd yr of hs), and slowly starts to gain popularity and a bit of a cult following. there are even forums dedicated to talking about the comic & theories (!!!!!!) and for the first time yuna feels genuinely passionate abt something. instead of studying, she just draws for the manhwa.
eventually oversleeps and misses the csat. laughs about it on her public instagram and wishes the other test-takers good luck & goes back to sleep.
(her mom gets on a flight back and chases her around the house when she finds her daughter’s name trending at #2 on naver for missing the suneung. her dad thinks it’s kinda funny.)
bc of this, she finally explains to her parents that it’s #notaphase and she’s actually earning money from it! mom’s still pissed n dad wants her to retake the exam tho so :/
just in time, she herself goes viral after the suneung incident! it’s not everyday u see a cute high school student drawing body horror, and the manhwa’s popularity and viewership go up bc of it. she’s offered a proper contract with a Real Monthly Salary, and moves into a goshiwon to focus on finishing the manhwa & to escape her parents’ nagging.
moved into maehwa vvvvv recently (like. a week ago?), because after finishing mitm, she’s started work on a new series! premise is a haunted house (based off maehwa, ofc!) and that’s... really all she knows so far.

sometimes just settles in the most inconvenient places to draw. srry ur muse has to step over her to use the bathroom.
either doesn’t sleep at all or sleeps for 17hrs straight. pitfalls of not having a schedule for self-regulation.
hasn’t unpacked, but has already had so many of her online shopping packages shipped here that the entire 2nd floor is a fire hazard. srry neighbours... she is aggressively american tho and so she’s gonna go around knocking on doors and actually talking to people n offering them extra food she ordered/made.
