Things are scary right now in Mexico.

i have read tons of posts explaining how by/ler is queerbait but i just dont see it. i really dont. character a is implied as gay from s 1 ep 1, has an implied crush on character b whos had a female romantic interest since s 1 ep 1, has constantly gone back to her and defended her every time she was in danger or being spoken badly about. meanwhile characters a and b keep having meaningful and close interactions because they are best friends. thats like it. im sorry but if you feel like you got queerbaited thats probably because you spent too much time over analizing every single interaction as romantic. we have been repeatedly told by/ler wasnt reciprocated.

I will say if you have TikTok be braced for a category 6 shitstorm of people misusing the word “queerbaiting” as if this show hasn’t been telegraphing since 2022 that Mike Wheeler doesn’t return Will Byer’s romantic feelings and that that’s okay. If you listened at all to the show (particularly literally any Will and Robin interaction) you would have seen the conversation on the radio tower coming a mile away. People were always going to have their hopes and their theories but the show was always very clear that Will’s crush was unreciprocated and now instead of accepting they read the text wrong, people will be loud and incorrect online for the next month.

the problem with the stranger things series finale and many other shows that are hyped up so much is that they are not made for fans. they are made for the general audience.

was it action filled? yes. was it filled with some cute moments between characters? sure. did we get a nice looking epilogue? yes we did.

but when you start looking deeper and pay attention to details, it just falls apart.

this ending was made for people who just tuned in after not thinking about st for 3 years. that's it. the ending has to be something that is easy to digest and understood by them. the general audience will not rewatch a show multiple times and pay attention to the little details. this is why it was so underwhelming for the actual fans who knew the show in and out.

this finale was not made for the fans.
