Don't trust collectors who say that nasal turbinates don't matter.
The inside of an animal’s nasal cavity tells us lots of information about the environment it lived in and the family it belongs to. Aggressive treatments such as boiling damage them: anyone who uses those methods to “clean” bones is not a true enthusiast.
In the photo: harp seal, wolverine, striped hyena, cheetah.

It’s Trilobite Tuesday! Pictured above is a Ceratonurus trilobite from Oklahoma. Strikingly similar examples of this genus have been found some 4,970 mi (8,000 km) away in Morocco, such as the one pictured below. This serves as an example of evidence of plate tectonics, which explains how continents move ever-so-slowly over the course of hundreds-of-millions of years.

Flint handaxe, dated to between 500,000 and 180,000 years ago (Lower Paleolithic). The axe belongs to the Acheulean lithic culture, associated with early hominins such as Homo erectus and Homo heidelbergensis. Acheulean handaxes have been found at sites such as Boxgrove in southern England, as well as roughly contemporary sites in Africa; they were ultimately supplanted by the more sophisticated Levallois stone tools of the Mousterian culture associated with the Neanderthals.
This handaxe was found in Hampshire, England, UK. It is now in the British Museum.
