Jensen’s solo panels at JIBCon 2019
So I was minding my own business, watching panels (FINALLY) to make some gifs, and I noticed something about Jensen’s. He has two solo panels at JIB, one Saturday & one Sunday. Keep in mind that each is only about 30 minutes long.
Saturday’s starts with them playing him on to the stage with the song The Final Countdown. Immediately:
He then tells that story (which I’ll be giffing later). It takes up the first 6 minutes of the panel. Shortly after that:
The next question is about…The Jonas Brothers? Weird but apparently Jared needs to be mentioned there too so Jensen talks about being backstage with the young cast members from other CW shows at the upfronts:
Jensen talks about the upfronts and how he and Jared took pictures with these young actors and how one said she’d been watching them her whole life. He finishes the story (5 minutes later) with this:
For those keeping track, we’re now almost 10 minutes in to the panel. Every thing he has said so far includes Jared. Not because someone asked about Jared either. This was all Jensen. Don’t worry though. He’s done talking about Jared. For about 8 whole minutes. Then:
The next question is interesting. A fan tries to get a very specific answer out of Jensen by saying Dean’s grief when Castiel died was so intense and how did he get into that head space? LOL. Like that wasn’t obvious. Jensen immediately brings Jared into it instead of responding like she wanted though.
Well done, sir. The panel ends with a fan asking if he and Jared might drive the Impala back to Texas after the shows ends and maybe film it. He thinks that’s a great idea. That was the only time an audience member brought Jared up rather than Jensen doing it himself.
THIS WAS JUST IN ONE HALF HOUR ON SATURDAY, PEOPLE. So maybe he’ll chill on Sunday, right? Let’s check. Nine minutes in:
Mind you: NO ONE ASKED ABOUT JARED. NOT ONCE. They’d ask Jensen about the show, the car, his life, whatever, and these were his answers. Until finally- AT LONG LAST- the very last question, someone gives the guy a break and asks about Jared and how their friendship has impacted the show:
Thank goodness. Finally an excuse to talk about him. Like Jensen needs one. I guess it’s to be expected. It had probably been AT LEAST an hour since they’d seen each other what with their JIB schedules. That must be hard on them both, poor guys.
