A Coffee Date || Remus & Alice

Remus laughed with her. “Hm, I think their definition of romance though is a little skewed from the norm. But, hey, whatever they’re doing seems to be working for them.” 

“Just running the bookstore mostly, which involves a lot of sleep but you’ll hear no complaints from me. What about you? What’s been happening on your end?”

“Lots of auror work, Moody has me working the Edgar Bones case with him, and it just seems like every time I turn around magical law enforcement has overwhelmed themselves yet again and so we’re taking on extra paperwork left and right,” she paused, lifting the cup of coffee to her lips and taking a drink. “So I needed this.” She thought for a moment trying to contain the news she was most excited about. She knew that they needed to keep things quiet within the Ministry, James and Sirius already knew about her and Frank. So it only felt logical that Remus should know.

“And I’m living with Frank now, so moving has taken up a good chunk of time.”

“Yeah, so…I’ve checked. Every corner. There’s no sign of coffee anywhere. And you’d think they’d have it, considering it’s Mungo’s, and that’s common practice. I might just have to file a complaint. A formal complaint.”

“Unless you’ve had any better luck, Ace?”

“I believe Alastor used to say something about constant vigilance in training, which I always took to mean bring your own damn coffee.” She lifted the travel mug in her hand and nodded towards Kingsley. “And in the off chance that some dolt, like yourself was unprepared,” she looked down and began rummaging through her bag, finally looking up and holding an extra mug out to Kingsley. “Bring a spare.”

She linked her spare arm with his free one and smiled as she began to lead him through the crowd. "Now Kings, things have been crazy in the office and I haven't seen you in weeks, and how have you been?"

Sneaky Dates || Fralice

Frank wasn’t quite sure what to make of all this.  He was confused and excited at the same time.  Arthur did talk to him about seeing a muggle movie at some point, but the entire concept baffled him.  Supposedly they were moving pictures with sound.  Sound!  

Alice was adorable in that moment, so very excited.  Frank, while apprehensive, was excited to get to share in something that Alice clearly loved so dearly.  He stared at the muggle money and allowed Alice to pull him around.  

“Uhhh…”  He stared at the options.  He thought about sneaking in some Chocolate Frogs, but knew that would be a terrible idea.  “I don’t… know?  I guess popcorn is a safe bet.”

Alice smiled at the girl waiting to take their order. “Could we get the biggest, greasiest tub of popcorn, and a few of those chocolate things that you have.” The girl nodded and Alice slid over a few more pieces of muggle money. She took the giant tub of popcorn from the girl and turned to Frank. “Grab the chocolate and come with me.” She walked further into the building and pushed open the theater door. She looked around at the plush seats and up to the screen, squinting trying to decide the best place for them to sit. 

“Okay, for the full experience I think we should sit sort of towards the middle there.” She pointed wither her elbow, before turning back to Frank. There might be muggles that sit near us, but I doubt it, the suns out and I think they’ve all seen this movie.” She smiled, and carefully grabbed a few pieces of popcorn to pop in her mouth.

Edgar laughed quietly.  “Not too daft, huh?” he asked with a chuckle.

His smile faded slightly when she asked how they met.  He paused for a moment.  “Sky diving,” he finally explained.  “We were jumping out of the same plane.”  Edgar missed those days.  As soon as he got better he might do it again.

“Sky diving? That’s a muggle thing I’m guessing?” She glanced over and smiled. “Planes, they fly in the sky right. Way up there.” She shook her head, disappointed again that she’d never taken muggle studies, and that Arthur’s interest tended to move in less practical directions.

Sneaky Dates || Fralice

It was a Saturday afternoon, and Alice was holding tightly to Frank’s hands as she walked backwards up the crowded London sidewalk. 

“Arthur’s never dragged you to a muggle movie, oh boy you don’t know what you’ve missed.” She grinned at him, quickly sidestepping a mother and her young son who were moving too slow. “Frank, you’re going to love it and see why Han is named Han. And I’m just so excited.” They neared the small theater that was still showing A New Hope, and she turned around only holding one of Frank’s hands and walked along next to him.

She pulled him into the small run down theater and smiled at the young muggle working the register. “Two, for Star Wars.” She handed over the muggle money and dragged Frank over to the snack counter. 

“We’ve got greasy popcorn, and candy, and soft drinks. What do you want?”

Ed chuckled.  “She really is.  And bloody smart too.  She gets that from her mother.”  There was a good chance that Nessa would end up a doctor or a nurse; she had healing in her blood.  While Edgar was a healer in the magical world, Tasha was a nurse out in the muggle world. 

“I suppose I did.  Although she’s actually the one that found me.”  Edgar was greatly enjoying being outside.  He used to run every day (depending on the weather) and not having that outside time really brought him down.

Alice smiled when Edgar spoke of his daughter. “I’m sure she gets a touch of that from you. You’re not too daft.” She shrugged and continued pushing them through the park. 

“Hmm, you never told me how you two met, and not that you have to of course, but it’ll keep us outside longer.”

“It’s just a stupid little note. Don’t make fun of me.”

“Mary, you know I wouldn’t make fun of you,” she paused shaking her head. “I’ll do it, if the note has your name on it, he’s right suspicious of everything right now.”

“Are you just in the office to drop this off? Or I was about to go hit the bags for a bit, if you want to start your training again.”

Ed closed his eyes, enjoying some time outside after what felt like weeks in bed.  No one else would take him outside.  

“Yeah?  I know Nessa is perfect, but I always thought I was slightly biased.”  He paused for a moment, not quite sure what else to say.  He knew Tasha loved him.  It was clear to see that.  “Yeah…”  He loved her, but he often worried that their type of relationship would lead them to failure down the line.  Right now, he wanted Tasha and only Tasha… but he was nervous to propose.

“You might be, but she’s a pretty dang good kid.” Alice smiled and stopped pushing him for a moment to watch a bird jump along the edge of a window.

“She does,” pause. “Not that I know much about love, but man you found an excellent girl.” She started moving again, a little slower this time as they walked through the garden. She didn’t pretend to know anything about healing, but she was sure that Edgar’s face had a slightly healthier color to it since they’d left the hospital.

“Good think I’m the only one that can speak bird then,” he smiled.  He wouldn’t tell anyone though.  He honestly didn’t know that they were a couple until she admitted that.  All he knew was that they moved in together.

Edgar continued to breathe deeply.  The fresh air was doing wonders to make him feel better.  “Good…” he smiled.  “She’s been amazing through all of this.”

Alice nodded her head looking around at the trees, she could hear the smile in Edgar’s voice, glad that he seemed happier. 

“I met her and Nessa the first week you were in here. She seems like a great kid, and Merlin’s beard Edgar, she loves you.”

Edgar turned to look at her.  “You forget that I have ears everywhere,” he laughed, tugging at his ears.  “A little birdie told me… I have bird friends, you know.  They tell me all the secrets of the Wizarding World.”  It felt good to be a little goofy again, even if it felt a bit forced.  

“Don’t worry, your secret it safe with me though.  It was bound to happen at some point.”  He took a deep breath of the fresh air.  It felt nice to be outside again.

“Well as long as your little birdies aren’t reporting to Crouch or Moody we’ll be fine.” She said with a laugh.

“Yeah, that’s what you and everyone else we’ve told has said. Apparently it’s been common knowledge that we’ve needed to do this for a long time.” She sighed and looked around at the trees. "How are you and Tasha doing?”

Ed smiled at her, a small chuckle bubbling out of him.  “A little?  Admit it, I’m really strange?”  By conventional standards, he honestly wasn’t strange at all, but he liked joking around with people.  “Out the door and to the left.”  

“I heard that you moved in with Frank.  Didn’t see that coming.”

“Just the strangest.” She laughed and pushed him out the door and turned towards the left. Reaching the exit she flicked her wand and the door opened for the two of them. 

She smiled to herself when he mentioned her moving in with Frank. “Oh Bones, I’m not sure any of us did.” She shrugged and glanced around her, not sure why she worried that someone would hear them. “We’re happy, we’ve been happy for awhile now,” a smile crossed her face as she spoke. “I guess we did pretty good at keeping it secret for awhile there. Who told you?”

“I’ve learned loads from her already. I’d call you m’am but she said people don’t really do that so I won’t.”

He writes down everything she says shrugging at her question of when they started.

“I don’t need to know how freaky you were in your teenage years, Fortescue.” He smiles but then it fades slowly as the words ‘his entire life’.

 “And I’m sorry, by the way, that you lost him. I met him a few times and uh, he was a good man.”

He laughs when she winks at him, taking her form and tapping it with his wand sending it to his desk for proper filing. 

“I think that’s that then, do you need anything before I go drown in my own paperwork?”

“He was one of the best.” Alice agreed with a nod and closed her eyes for a moment reminding herself of the good times with David. 

“Go drown in paperwork, Fenwick.”

Remus laughed. “Sorry, that one should’ve been mine, but let’s just be glad he didn’t ask Sirius for advice. That would have probably ended in a funeral rather than a wedding.” He bounced his leg gently under the table and thought about what she asked him. In truth he wanted to get out to take his mind off his monthly outing in the days to come, but that wasn't exactly something he liked to share.

“Lily keeps telling me to get out more and I hadn’t seen you in forever, I figured that it made sense. Two birds with one stone.”

Alice laughed at the thought of the advice Sirius would have given James. “Probably, although he does seem to be doing a fair bit of romancing for Dorcas. So who knows.” She shrugged and smiled at him when he answered her question.

“That’s a good enough reason for me.” She stirred the coffee in front of her. “So it’s been longer than I would have liked, what have you been doing?”
