one of my favourite things about folklore and evermore is how they juxtapose traditional stories. like illicit affairs and ivy being about the person who’s having an affair and not the innocent party. or hoax being about a hopeless/dark love, but still believing in it. or my tears ricochet being about how the abuser is also haunted by their actions. or the 1 not being about the person you end up with, but rather who could’ve been that person. or closure being about not needing closure at all. or champagne problems being about a rejected marriage proposal…

it all makes for such interesting storytelling, and i’m SO blown away at how taylor comes up with these ideas for her songs, she truly is a once-in-a-lifetime songwriter
