“Dont you dare start acting like a child because I wanted to talk to him! He is the oldest damn phoenix on this island and I was worried about you! You were dead for a month Nate! Did you expect me to sit around and not try to figure out what was going on? Because if so you don’t know me as well as you think you do.” She let him put his hand away and shook her head in disbelief. “I cant believe you.”

It was almost disorienting to watch the complete change in her expressions all of a sudden, talk about hiding emotions, Andy was an obvious expert at it. The moment she noticed his presence she had put on a smile, but he could see it was only a mask. “Andy, come on. You don’t seem okay, not to me.” he mumbled as inched closer to her and wrapped an arm around her. “Tell me what is going on.”

Andy closed her eyes as Nate continued to ask her what was wrong. It was clear that he could see right through her mask today. Tucking her body against his side, she rested her head on his chest. “Nothing is going off. I’m allowed to have a bad day am I not?”

Andy watched Ivanna with growing amusement as she let the toy fall to the ground before she began to laugh. “It doesnt bite Ivanna.”

“Sorry, sorry.” he mumbled. “I am not sure - I don’t really understand this whole process of rebirthing if truth be told, and I was under the impression I was gone for a few hours till Iris told me earlier than it’s actually been over a month.” He slowly let go of her, but kept their fingers laced together. “Home?” he said, eager to get back to the familiarity of one of their apartments, the dark alleys weren’t the most comforting of places to be right now.

“I dont understand it either. I actually want to talk to Alexion more about Phoenixes. He’s suppose to take me to meet Rayvn...” As the words slipped from her lips, Andy could’ve smacked herself. Nate was the last person she had wanted to find out about her wanting to meet Rayvn. Squeezing his hand gently, she sighed. “Please. I want nothing more to go home.”

“My restaurant is finally my restaurant again. Finally.” Nate announced loudly as he opened Andy’s bedroom door without any sort of warning, making his way to her bed and sitting beside her. “I swear, if - “ Nate forgot what he was going to say as soon as his eyes took in the state of her. He knew she had had not been handling things well lately but this was worse than what he had assumed it was. In reality, Andy in tears not only worried him but also scared him immensely. She never cried. But here she was, crying her eyes out alone in her room. “What - What is going on?” he asked blankly, unable to come to any valid conclusion as to what could possibly have made her so upset.

Andy’s heart jumped into her throat as she heard Nate enter the room. She had been so locked in her own mind that she hadn’t heard him come into the room. “I-its nothing.” The hybrid lied as she pushed herself into sitting position. An easy smile sliding onto its place on her lips. But even as she tried to hold it in place, she knew that he could see right through her. “I’m okay.”

It wasn't often that Andy let her guard down and let herself feel the emotions that she kept pushed back. But after the stressful month she had, had she felt like she was holding more weight on her shoulders than usual. First Nate had died and then she was convinced she had seen Damien. Nate she could handle, he he came back. But Damien? He wasn't suppose to be here. Pulling old memories to the surface and making her heart hurt in ways it hadn't for as long as she could remember.

The Hybrid was curled on her bed with a pillow pulled flush against her stomach. Silent tears slipping down her cheeks as she stared blankly out her bedroom window. She was so lost in her own world that she didn't hear her bedroom door open or Nate step into the room.

Are you okay? Such a simple question but he had no idea how to explain what was going on with him so he gave the simple answer. “I’m fine, I am alive so that is a good thing.” he teased, though it was very rare that he had seen her shed tears, so he was still very concerned. “It’s okay, I am here.” he mumbled, pressing his lips to her hair.

Hearing Nate tease her was enough to pull her out of her grief long enough to jab him in the ribs, not enough to hurt him but enough to show that teasing her was not the way to go currently. Her mental state was to shaky, first with his death and then Damien popping back up. Not that he knew that yet. “What took you so long?” She whispered. “I was so worried.”

“Well, more or less yes I did.” She chuckled, taking the furby in her hands while looking at it curiously. “At least it’s soft, though really odd. I thought rubric cubes were strange but this beats it.”

“My bad, Im not entirely sure how mermaids work. I dont think Ive ever actually met one and with how long Ive been alive, that is saying something.” She watched Lyra study the Furby before laughing at the mention of a Rubric Cube. “I actually love those. They got annoying sure but not as bad as Furby.”

“We’re just a island of misfit toys, I suppose.” Gemma grinned taking the bottle. “Yes, she would. Until then, we have this to help us cope.” She took a swig from the bottle before handing it back.

“I dont think there is anywhere else I’d rather be than on an island of misfit toys. At least all my favorite people are here with me.” Andy replied with a simple shrug as Gemma took the bottle from her. “I suppose there are a few people I could do without.” Like her husband who had just recently reappeared but she wasnt in the mood to go into that right now. “Thank god for alcohol.”
