"Hey guys, I found it: why it had to be Cas! The third ingredient!"
(based on this theory)
Part 1 | Part 2
The familiarity of her creation surrounding her seemed to have an incredible effect on Hael— she was at ease. Her wings were burned and torn, her home was closed off from her, but sitting at the edge of her canyon, she no longer felt weak. Instead, she appeared to almost glow.
"I am glad I have someone to share in this." Turning to him, she tilted her head. "What about you, Castiel? How are you …feeling?"
Words would never be enough to describe what Cas truly felt. So to put it simply; he felt content. And happy. Like an unexpected holiday or birthday gift that contained something one has always desired. Maybe one day he can take the Winchesters here, if they hadn’t already seen the magnificent canyons. It was a work of art that would last for decades and will be forever imprinted in the hearts of those who have experienced what Cas is experiencing now.
"This is…I don’t know. I’m speechless. It’s a masterpiece and not even that."
Her cheeks flushed at the compliment to her work, but she shook her head, fondness warming the center of her chest. "That's very kind of you. But I meant..." Her voice trailed off, and she considered her words carefully. Then, more gently, she continued, "How are you feeling?" Hael moved her hands as though to gesture to him, but the motion was futile; she didn't know what she was trying to convey.
Out of Character: I'm here I promise! I'm just so busy this week! But I'm here!
She smiled broadly, raising up on her tiptoes. “I don’t imagine many of them will expect you to detour to go sight-seeing. I’m glad to see you again in any case.”
Castiel smiled back slightly. “No I do not think they will, which is thankful for me.” He said, smile growing slightly at the idea. “I am glad that I got the chance to as well. Your canyon is truly incredible, it has become quite famous you know.”
A grin spread across her face, and Hael dropped her gaze with a humble shake of her head. "It's not my canyon. I made it, but it belongs to everyone. I just wanted to share something beautiful with the world." Turning to look out over the deep scar in the earth, she raised a hand to gesture to the sprawling canyon. "Did you ever do anything like this, Castiel?"
Let me be clear:
dropping a thread doesn’t mean that there won’t be any more future communications between our muses. It just means that I lost interest in a thread I once had muse for. Do not take it personally, it is never a mun attack, and truthfully, I feel very sorry that I have to do so. It doesn’t mean that I will never talk to you again, nor does it mean that I dislike your roleplaying. In fact, I’m more than open to starting a new thread or a new plot, and I highly encourage it. Jump back in my askbox when you can, and we’ll talk.
Out of Character: I'm considering making a Demon!Bela blog. Oops.
The lingering spiritual pain that filled her Grace from the moment she’d broken the atmosphere, ozone burning in her nostrils as her wings beat uselessly at the air, finally seemed to ease as they reached the northern rim. Everything about this planet was foreign— so much had changed since she’d been here last— but this was familiar. Approaching the edge, she slid down to sit, her legs dangling over a mile above the riverbed below.
"It’s different now. The colors, the sky. The earth has changed. But it’s still the same." Glancing up at him, she patted the dusty red dirt beside her in invitation.
Of course this is the first time Castiel really had the opportunity to enjoy something other than humanity. He could spend eternity here if he wished. The whole view was a picturesque dream and nothing could ruin this moment for him; it was so peaceful like he reached a certain kind of calm to where nothing could really disturb him. He sat down without a noise and soaked in the glorious view before answering her comment.
"It’s still young and very breathtaking." He said quietly.

She nodded. The decision to trust the one who was responsible for their fall was not an easy one. But in the pit of her stomach, there was something that did trust him, something that believed him. Or, at the very least, something that believed in him. They weren’t close in Heaven, but he had his reputation, and kindness made up the majority of it. Whether he intended for them to fall or not, she knew in the deepest part of her grace that he didn’t intend to harm them.
"You don’t have to thank me, Castiel. Just don’t make me regret it." Stepping off of the shoulder of the road and onto the softer grass, falling into step with him. Silence stretched, filled by the sound of the highway, and she turned to look at him in quiet contemplation. There was a time when she would have been honored to walk side by side with Castiel. How quickly allegiances had changed.
It was the silence that seemed to be awkward, in a sense maybe silence was best. It gave him time to really think and that’s what Castiel needed, he needed to think. His mind was filled with so much and while this burden was so close to just crushing him, and here he was with an angel, or former angel. She was trusting him, and that had meant everything to him. How to prove he wasn’t this angel that Heaven and the other angels made him out to be, he was clueless. Then, reality would strike him, they didn’t make anything up, it was all reality.
The small restaurant was quiet, and just enough for them to really talk and understand what they were even going to do at this point. His hands folded in front of him, blue eyes gazing into a almost similar blue, “I’m going to assume you’re completely lost here, Hael?” He questioned, and while it was assumption he felt he knew the true answer to this. “I wish I could tell you what exactly it is to do here, the question in my head is, what is it that you want to do?”
The coffee in her hands was warm, and it felt good to hold it close to her face after walking in the cloudy weather. The sound of her name broke her reverie, and she lifted her gaze to him, but her brow only creased further.
"I don't understand," she said quietly. "What... do I want to do?" Echoing his question didn't make its meaning any clearer. But it did set her thinking, and Hael once again dropped her gaze to her reflection in the surface of her coffee. Wanting was... Wishing. Desiring. Enjoyment. Pleasure.
"I suppose... I want to see something familiar. Heaven is closed to me, and everything on this planet looks so different now. There are no spanning plains for hundreds of miles. They control the flow of rivers and create their own lakes, but there is no beauty in them. ...There is a river, in the southwest. I remember how it used to look... and I used it to carve into the earth, a great chasm, a grand canyon." Lifting her head, she gave a shrug, an uncertainty hanging over her. Was that what he'd wanted from her? "I guess if I want to do something... it would be seeing that again."
“I built it when I was last here, many years ago, a grand canyon”
OMG WE'RE BOTH GOING AS CAS
FUCK YEAH *HIGH FIVES* i saw yours and i was like yes this is grand
i just need to figure out how to do stubble makeup without looking like i'm doing brownface T_T
ok i’m happy about the megstiel and all but
There’s a reason Sam explicitly referred to It’s A Wonderful Life THIS episode. They’ve been using Clarence for Cas for YEARS, but they only mentioned the movie this episode.
Because THIS episode is the episode where it becomes relevant that Cas adopts the name of an angel who’s trying to earn his wings.

Can we just talk about Kevin Tran’s character development?
This happened in exactly one season. One season.
"Oh, it’s you again.”
Out of Character: I haven't really got a chance to play with Hael's moral ambiguity... Anybody want to get on her bad side? :D
Castiel & Hael // heavensrebellious & angelonaroadtrip
There was a stretch of painful silence for a moment after he’d spoken, as she carefully dabbed at the corners of her eyes. The tears had stopped as quickly as they had begun, as her puzzlement over them overwhelmed the emotional center of her vessel’s brain. With a deep breath, one that seemed to steady her shaking hands and relax her somewhat, she lifted her chin and met Castiel’s gaze evenly.
"I trust you. I don’t know if it’s a mistake or not, but I don’t know what else to do. And you are still my brother." Hael smiled thinly, pulling her cardigan tighter. "I don’t understand what’s happening, or what my part is to play in any of it… but I’ll trust you, Castiel."
Reaching out, she laid her hand on his and squeezed lightly. She wasn’t certain where it had come from— somewhere in her vessel’s memory, perhaps— but there was something about that gesture that seemed comforting. Then, lifting her eyes to the cars blowing past them, she seemed to come to the same conclusion as him. “Where do we go now?”
Trust was something that could take years to build, and yet it felt as if trust was something an angel could feel with another angel. In there eyes, they were all brothers and sisters, though it was Castiel that a good half, if not more, that the others did not trust. Hearing those simple words, I trust you, meant everything to him and it was trust that he felt the other angels needed in him. He had caused so much damage and shed so much blood, and while his grace was gone, somehow he would figure this out and he would fix home — he had to.
"I’m lost for words, Hael. What can I tell you, is thank you." That was all he could muster, and yet he still felt some guilt in even saying those words. Could Hael trust Castiel? Truly trust Castiel? He hoped so, still that doubt lingering like a burden on his chest. Where they would go and what they would do, that was the question. Pointing forward, he indicated to a sign that rested some feet away from them.
"Appears there is a town a few miles from here, while I wish we could avoid the walk, it is one of the many new changes." His words sounded dead, and clearly there was no excitement there. It was free will that was new to the angels, and while it was exciting in some way or form, he had a feeling it would take some time to take time to get use to. Nudging his head, he indicating for her to follow, "We can talk more when it’s more quiet, to be honest I feel completely lost like you."
She nodded. The decision to trust the one who was responsible for their fall was not an easy one. But in the pit of her stomach, there was something that did trust him, something that believed him. Or, at the very least, something that believed in him. They weren't close in Heaven, but he had his reputation, and kindness made up the majority of it. Whether he intended for them to fall or not, she knew in the deepest part of her grace that he didn't intend to harm them.
"You don't have to thank me, Castiel. Just don't make me regret it." Stepping off of the shoulder of the road and onto the softer grass, falling into step with him. Silence stretched, filled by the sound of the highway, and she turned to look at him in quiet contemplation. There was a time when she would have been honored to walk side by side with Castiel. How quickly allegiances had changed.
"Perhaps it would be wiser to be constantly moving. My vessel, she has an automobile."
"That would be smart, can I come with you? Just for a short time."
A grin spread across her face and she nodded firmly. "I would enjoy your company."
A heavy sadness passed over her face, and something like pity. For Samandriel or Castiel, it wasn’t clear. “Wasn’t it? He says he was tricked, but is it such a stretch to think that he would do this of his own volition? Have you forgotten the slaughter of any who refused to acknowledge him as our new father? Castiel may have pure intentions, but his methods have never been kind.”
Blue eyes trailed away from his sibling’s face, and his features grew hard at her declaration. “Have you forgotten Naomi? —How often Castiel has been manipulated by heaven, hell, and humans alike.” There was a tiredness to his his tone, as if he knew his words were falling on deaf ears, but that would not stop him from defending his brother.”Castiel would not do this. Ejecting all our kin from heaven would serve no purpose, for he must have suffered the same fate. Though you and I will disagree on this matter, Hael, I believe in Castiel. Even if he has made mistakes.”
Hael dropped her gaze and let her chin fall to her chest. "I don't know him as well as you do, Samandriel. The faith you have in him..." Shaking her head, she lifted her eyes to him, studying his face for a moment. "If you truly believe this is all some misunderstanding... then I will support you. But it will be because I trust you. I cannot bring myself to trust him."
