A Year in Australia by bourbonrain - Excellent smut, angst and characterisation. Draco runs into Hermione propositioning a guy in a bar and decided to take her up on the offer.

Dawn by camnz - what happens when all the adults suddenly vanish and they have to create their own society. Such a good concept and unique story. 

A Matter of Property by camnz - wip the war is lost and Hermione is enslaved and Draco is obsessed with her. I have no idea where this is going but I like it.

(Camnz has quite a few stories with unique concepts i like)

Let The Dark In by senlinyu - wip Drumstrang Draco and the triwizard tournament. Brilliant writing highly anticipating updates.

Manacled  by SenLinYu - Its most bookmarked/kudos for a reason. It is epic. 

Of Crimson Joy by LittleRobbin - filled my the fallout hole. A war romance with a twist at the end.

The Auction by lovesbitca8 - Draco buys Hermione in an auction after the war. i read this as it was being published and it was addictive.

Atonement by SomethingBlue42 - Another Draco buys Hermione after the war fic. I liked how it respected Ron it was very sweet.

Better Off Forgotten by Delancey654 - All muggleborns have to be obliviated and repatriated to the muggle world. Draco seeks Hermione out for sinister reasons. A thriller by the end.

Room Serviced by pir8fancier - Another friends with benefits war story, its my fav dynamic.

Uncoffined by lady_of_clunn - a small twist on the Draco buys Hermione this time he doesn't know its her.

Dragon in the Dark By: GracefulLioness - Draco joins the order, war story.

Crying Shame

“So, what was it about tonight than made chancing detention seem sensible?” Marisa asks him, settling back against the windowsill and folding her arms.

“It will not have escaped your notice that there are plenty of deep pockets out there. Thanks to you, these are the sorts of petty indignities with which I must now concern myself.”

Oh, it’s delicious. Delicious! “Ah,” she says, smiling, “so tonight we’re both whores.”

“I’m not even going to dignify that with a response,” he says, followed immediately by, “Though if I am a whore tonight, it’s only because you made me so.”

“Of course, it’s always my fault, isn’t it? So who can I blame? Who made me a whore?”

“Not me,” he says. She wonders if he’ll leave then, or at least threaten to. But instead he walks purposefully towards one of the room’s two settees, red leather, facing each other, and sits down without breaking eye contact. He looks up at her. She doesn’t like it; as if she’s a girl in a pleasure house and he expects her to take off her clothes for him and dance. So she walks over and sits opposite him, on the other settee, and he smiles a little as he leans back into the leather, rests one ankle on the opposite knee, and has another mouthful of his drink. Stelmaria comes to stand at one end of the sofas, and then the golden monkey leaps up deftly, to perch on the arm at the other end of the two. For a moment, the four of them hang there, watching, sipping, breathing, like the four points of a compass or pieces laid on a chessboard.

I cant get over how god damn timeless heartbreak is. This quote is so very Gen Z to me, taken form Rosamond Lehmann’s Dusty Answer written in 1927.

She turns away from a painting, and nearly collides with three people in conversation.

Two of them are familiar enough, the sorts of purebloods who she regularly speaks to at events like these, but who aren’t ever significant enough that she has any need to work them for information.

The third is intimately familiar, but in all the wrong ways.

“That’s a shit painting, isn’t it?” Lucan Nott remarks, addressing her directly, leaving her little route to duck away. “Honestly, it’s embarrassing that the Carrows even thought it worth showing.”

“It certainly leaves something to be desired,” she replies, but she’s not looking at him.

No, instead, she’s looking straight at none other than James Potter, who is staring right back at her.

The look of recognition in his eyes is unmistakable, and it terrifies her.

My love of TLAT is all-encompassing and if I'm honest makes me a bit nit-picky of other cannon tellings of the story. Even though TLAT is incomplete we still know how it will eventually end, with the death of almost all the characters, so when I did finish TLAT I got really really SAD and I'm not sure I'm ready to do that too myself again.

So I'm sorry to say I haven't read any of the newer masterpieces.

having said that...

The Last Enemy series really intrigues me I think it's such an ambitious project, it's definitely on my tbr and I have read a couple bits and I believe CHdarling can really write! (I'm also a real sucker of the little graphics at the start of the chapters)

I think il wait until the seventh year is completed and then fully immerse myself in the series. (and probably brake my own heart again)

With We Can Be Heroes and The Mapmakers...

This may be a mistake of mine and I could be missing out on a lot but I tend to stay away from anything rated Teen and Up. I have it in my head that this rating means stories will shy away from the darker themes and issues that are a key part of the Jilly story; prejudice, violence and war. Let me know if I'm being unfair in my ratings boycott.

This is awful. It's horrifying. It's deeply depressing. Rage. Scream. Mourn the tragedy we know is coming.

But remember this: what we are about to experience is the world our grandmothers and great grandmothers lived in. This is what they fought against.

Remember that they won. Even if the victory was temporary, they still won.

We can win, too. Prepare yourself. Finish your mourning, and get back to the fight. Yes, it's awful that we have to have this same fight. It's frustrating. It's heartbreaking. But now is not the time to surrender to despair.

Now the work begins.

Frostbite

“You’re quite vile, aren’t you?” he said. “Vicious. Indecent.”

She swallowed, and the undulation of her throat was very satisfying, as was the way she crossed one leg over the other and pressed her thighs together. He held her there for a moment longer, just long enough to draw out another muted gasp, then he let her go and stepped away. She sat forwards, gave the back of her head an absentminded stroke, and went back to her notebook. The room was quiet: just the faint hum of the anbaric lamp and the whispers from their dæmons beneath the desk.

Soon, though, another sound cut through the relative silence: the growl of his stomach, deep and meandering. He’d arrived at Jordan too late to dine, after all. Asriel glanced at Marisa’s workspace. By the number of books pulled from their shelves, the many piles of papers and the pot of hand cream sat beside her, he’d wager that she hadn’t left the library for hours either. “Have you eaten?”

She flipped to the next page of her book. “No.”

“Dinner?”

She paused, but her dæmon reached for her shoes at once and began to slip them on her feet. She shot the golden monkey a glare, then sighed. “Alright.”
