"No!" She could hear her voice come out --frantic and shrill-- before she knew what was she was saying. "Jin, no! Let me go! Leave me here!"

Feeling her body being lifted from the ground, Annie began to squirm. She was strong enough to slip from his arms, especially since he was so injured, but she didn't. She let her body grow limp slung over his shoulder, her arm reaching out towards Sara's small form as it grew smaller and smaller until it was out of view. 

"Sara! Sara! No! Nooo--" Annie broke into sobs. "Not again..."

Her head hung, her forehead pressed to his back. She couldn't fight anymore. She may have seen the daddy thumping towards them in the distance, but she gave it no notice; it didn't matter anymore. 

Lifelessly, Annie felt herself being gently placed on the ground, her back supported by a stack of moldy crates. She lifted her limp wrist to her chest, her other hand wiping her damp cheeks. She looked up at Jin for only a moment; seeing his worsened state made her guts lurch, and it was all her fault. Sitting there in the dark, she broke again, crying softly. Her body was heavy and weary, cowering like whatever she touched would die. She cried into her arm with overwhelming feelings of guilt. 

"Not again, not again, I left her again..." She mumbled into her hands, barely comprehensible. "My baby,"

"I’ve been shot at and this still hurts like hell."

Both women laughed at Annie’s misfortune. Of all the injuries one expected to get these days, papercuts were pretty low on the list. It was almost ridiculous how everything else she’d endured hadn’t made the small cuts easier to handle. Allegany smiled as she reached into her pocket. She had a bandage somewhere, probably. 

"Aight, hold on. Gimme your hand."

As Annie moved to follow that command, Allegany continues her search, one hand in a pocket and the other gently taking her friend’s. Even as she checked pocket after pocket, nothing useful came from the search.

"Shit," she muttered, frowning at the circumstance. It wasn’t too serious an blow, she supposed. No reason not to lighten mood. "Don’t have any bandages on me, apparently. I can do this though." She kissed the wound briefly, chuckling at herself.

"A kiss to make it better. Works for moms, no reason it shouldn’t work for me too."

8: first kiss

Annie liked Theo the best. She had only joined the Atlas Rebels recently, and despite meeting other like-minded rebels (and a deputy who had yet to impress her), Theo was the most genuine one of the bunch. She wasn't particularly nice to him, but she wasn't particularly nice to anyone. Despite her cold attitude, she appreciated him around more than the others.

Maybe it was the lack of sleep, or maybe the loneliness that had rooted in her chest, but looking at Theo in the shine of the sea's light glistening the sweat on his brow, Annie felt her pulse race. This was the longest she had ever spent with him before, and despite her witty-and-rash sarcasm, he was still kind to her. She wasn't sure how she felt about Theo, but she was lonely enough to step close to him, and crane her neck to press her lips onto his.

The kiss was fast and timid, and it ended as though it had never had a start. Annie turned away, her face warm but feeling no different. In a disappointed and sheepish voice, Annie whispered a sorry before going back to her work.

14: jawline kiss

Salty tears wet her face and silent sobs trembled her shoulders gently. Annie sat hunched on her bed, her knees by her face.

"Annie?"

Annie shot up, her makeup smeared down her face with her eyes swollen and red. Allegany stood in the doorway stiffly, staring at Annie with an expression of concern. Annie wasn't sure if Allegany had ever seen her cry before.

"You... You found her, didn't you? While you were gone..." Allegany almost whispered.

Annie nodded, rubbing her eyes with a fist. Allegany moved immediately, floating towards her to wrap her strong arms around Annie. Annie didn't hold her back at first, but the more Allegany embraced her, the more grateful she was. Annie wrung her arms around Allegany, pressing her face into her neck. She felt Allegany kiss her jaw gently, her warm breath warming her face. Annie pressed herself closer to her.

19: underwater kiss

The water was high now, much too high for them to wade much longer. The distance between their heads and the ceiling was only inches apart, and their gasping mouths could barely breathe in without a mouthful of water. She shouldn’t be here; she was supposed to get out of the room before she flooded it, but things weren’t that simple. By coincidence a splicer was stuck with her, struggling against the rising water. Fortunately for him, he was much taller than Annie, so as the water nearly reached the maximum volume of the room, he got a better and much bigger breath of air than Annie.

Annie went under first, her lungs nearly drained. She felt her body spasm for oxygen, the pressure filling her head. She opened her mouth, letting out the small bubble of air she had left; she was going to drown. Then she saw him, the one-eyed splicer with his cheeks full of air.

She knew was she needed to do, and without hesitation she swam to him with the last of her strength. Cupping his face with her hands— and catching him by surprise —she put her mouth on his. She breathed in the air from his mouth and pushed him away.
