Update!

If anyone is still using this site, here’s an update! I have a second partner who is incredible and in my program which is awesome! I got straight As again last term and am on track to do so again this term, so I’m ROCKING grad school. I also got hired for a summer position at the Children’s Museum as a Partnership Camp Counselor which means I’ll be working at the Zoo as well with the kiddos!!!! I’m loving my life and honestly living the best I can rn. I also have an AMAZING therapist which is truly improving my quality of life.

Update!

I made it through my first term of grad school with a 4.0!!!! Insanity right? I thought so too. I’ve been so thankful for the support of my amazing partner Becca and my friends throughout the past few months of transitioning to a new place and a new school! I’m really finding myself in Portland and finding somewhere I belong. I’m loving my life in Portland, and basically living my best life!

Good news! It’s not pollution, but instead entirely natural bacterial action that happens in low oxygen bogs. Iron-loving bacteria are feeding on dissolved iron in the water, and their metabolic processes produce this rainbow oily film on the surface. Their waste products settle into an iron ore sediment. You are literally watching bog iron form, which was the primary source of iron for most of northern Europe during the Medieval era.
