This year we'll be attending the Manchester Animation Festival, just for a day, on Wednesday! It's the first time for us so excited to see how it's like.

We reached our goal on Kickstarter!

In 19 days we managed to raise £28K! Just thinking about it makes my head spin. We still have 11 days to go but having reached the goal already relieves a bit of the pressure.

The animatic I made for the teaser trailer of @anikestudio's "Grattachecca!" It was so fun using ideas and shots I'd already boarded to come up with a cohesive trailer that flows from one shot to the next. The first parallax shot was also incredibly fun to plan.

Grattachecca BTS #1 🔎

Let's explore how we did the table fan in the first short of the teaser trailer for Grattachecca.

It all started from the animatic panel from @bixels

Having mechanical animation is always problematic, if you're not Gainax in the 90s that is, so we went and modelled a 3D fan in Blender, using a cute vintage teal table fan found on the internet as reference

Very cool, then we posed it using the animatic as reference and ✨animated✨ it. It is just a rotation on the Z axis of the head of the fan, but some (not so) clever origin setting and parenting saved the day.

Then we rendered it on transparent background and checked the timing on the animatic

Finally brought the rendered frames on CSP for iPad and traced and bucket filled every 3 frame

Aaaaand all done!
