Hello, everyone! Welcome to the account of a writer and a fellow fangirl! You are all about to enter a world of several fandoms, whether it is K-Pop🎶, Anime(*/ω\*), video-games🎮, or TV-shows and movies📽. Here is my Masterlist! Hope you all enjoy scrolling through this pit of stories, memes, and other posts! I will also take any requests from the fandoms I have listed on my very first post so if you would like to, request away!!
Hello, everybody! For those of you who know me from Wattpad (which I highly doubt XD), I have been thinking of uploading a few snippets of my stories here, along with a few imagines, one-shots, materials such as those. For those of you who do not know me, I am Malanie (previously known as Animationsyes)! I am in a couple different fandoms from K-pop to video-games to movies.
On this platform, I am planning to mostly post imagines, headcanons, one-shots, and occasional memes here and there. If you have any requests, I am absolutely open to them! The list below is what I will be doing for most of my page.
- Anime:
Diabolik Lovers, Vampire Knight, Black Butler, Death Note, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Yuri on Ice, Tokyo Ghoul, The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited, and Ouran High School Host Club.
- Shows/Movies:
American Horror Story: seasons 1-8, Stranger Things, Teen Wolf, The Maze Runner: trilogy, and The Umbrella Academy.
- Video-games:
Detroit: Become Human, Resident Evil 1-4 and 7: Biohazard, The Evil Within 1 and 2, Dying Light, Genshin Impact, and Obey Me! Shall We Date?
- I will also be doing a few K-pop based posts so you can request them as well. I will not, however, be able to do a lot of groups since I only know a few.
- I might post a few snippets from my books on Wattpad that might act as one-shots or imagines here as well.
Types of posts I will be doing:
Memes (cuz a good meme a day keeps the depressing reality away), One-shots, Imagines, Headcanons, Preferences, and general aesthetic posts.
They can be Character X OC, Character X Reader, Character X Character, or a group-based post.
All you have to do is request any of these and I will try my best to write them as best as possible!
In terms of NSFW, the most I am willing to do are headcanons which don’t go in extreme depth. I will not be doing any explicit one-shots on it.
A lot, apparently, cuz that’s a lot of material to experiment with. But feel free to request any of these, and others that are not mentioned here and I will see if I can write a post on them.
A/N: I feel like I'm slowly falling into a deep hole after writing the Kazuha one :) If you want to see any other characters, let me know! They don't have to be just Genshin related!
This has been in my drafts for too long T_T
If you enjoyed my work and want to look for more, here is my masterlist. Or you could request from any of these fandoms!
"Al-Albedo-" You gasped out once more from under him as his lips worked against your neck, marking every spot they could touch. He hummed against you, his hands gripping your waist tighter to pull you closer, if that was even possible at this point. All you could do in return was writhe on the table, papers and alchemical apparatus scattered around you, with his jacket engulfing you.
Your gaze shifted to the snow falling outside the small cave Albedo had made his secondary lab before you closed your eyes, letting yourself melt in his embrace.
How did you end up in this position, you might be wondering.
"Albedo, here's the Whopperflower nectar you asked for. W-where do you want me to keep it?" You yelled through your clenched teeth as you made your way back to him rapidly.
"Thank you, love. Could you place it over on the table behind me?" He spoke without turning to you as he kept his focused eyes on whatever liquid he had bubbling in his cauldron of secrets.
Without missing a beat, you placed the items where he requested and walked over to the cooking pot, which had a fire burning. With chattering teeth, you sat on a nearby chair and pushed your arms closer to the warmth. Your actions finally caught the alchemist's attention and he turned his head to look at you.
"Are you alright, Y/N?" He stood up straight and walked over to you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. You looked up and sucked a breath in as you continued to shiver.
"Yeah, I think I just stayed out a bit longer than I should've. Dragonspine is just so pretty I can't help but look around no matter how many times I come here." You chuckled through your batted breath as you turned your attention to the fire once more.
You heard a hum from above you before you felt a fabric being wrapped around your shoulders. "Wear this. It should help for the time being." Albedo said as he pushed your arms through the holes and buttoned it up in the middle.
"Thank you," You muttered as a shiver ran down your spine, snuggling against the fabric; you curled into a ball on the chair. He stood behind you and ran his hands up and down your arms, trying to help warm you up.
"I suppose this could help warm you up a little." He smiled softly as his rubbing eventually turned into soft massages on your arms before they trailed up your shoulders and to your neck.
You couldn't remember much of what happened after through your haze. All you knew was that the man above you had offered to warm you up if the jacket wasn't enough. The next thing you knew, you were kissing him and were pushed against the table at some point.
"After all this, you still have the energy to get distracted?" You focused on his icy blue eyes as he stared down at you. "Though, at least you are getting warmer." He placed a gentle hand over your neck, tracing his fingers against the marks he left. "Tell me, Y/N, does this feel nice?" He asked in a quiet voice before leaning down once again and biting into the crook of your neck, causing you to release the moan you had been holding back.
"Y-yes, it does!" Now out of breath, you gripped the collar of his shirt while he ran his tongue over the new marks his teeth left before leaving open-mouthed kisses again.
"Then let me hear it," He grunted and pulled you slightly off the table so your legs were dangling off the sides. "How would you like me to warm you up next?" He whispered in your ear, nibbling on your earlobe the next moment as he waited for your response. "Surely, you still feel a little cold, sweetness."
"I... I do," Embarrassed by your desperate attempt to continue, you closed your eyes.
"Hm, then what shall we do, Y/N?" You felt his index finger and thumb wrap around your chin to pull your mouth open. Before you could respond, not that you were sure you could, you felt his lips smash against yours as he pushed his tongue into your mouth. A muffled noise of shock was immediately eaten up by him as he continued kissing you roughly.
His tongue explored every corner it could reach, pushing against yours as if trying to taste everything you had to offer him. Your hesitant hands moved up from clutching his shirt to wrapping around his neck. You pulled yourself up from the table slightly to reciprocate, only for Albedo to push you back down and climb on the table himself.
His hands reached up to cup your cheeks as he deepened the kiss once he was fully straddling you. When he finally pulled away, just enough to let you breathe, you realized how long you had truly been kissing for. Before you could process it, his lips were back on yours.
"Tell me," You heard him mutter between your kisses, "what you want, and I'll give it to you." He shifted above you deliberately, enough to make his hips rock into yours. A gasp escaped your lips as you subconsciously bucked your hips back up into his. He sighed at the feeling and closed his eyes momentarily before looking back at you.
"Come now, don't be shy." His voice grew impatient as he leaned closer to you, one hand now gripping onto the waistband of your pants.
I was going through the entire story once more while I wait to level up my cards and had a few headcanons that I thought might happen with the MC that weren't mentioned in the actual story.
Warning(s): Angst, mention of trauma, PTSD, self-doubt, potential spoilers for Lesson 16.
MC never truly feels safe with Belphegor unless someone else is with them to make sure nothing happens, despite knowing that he no longer intends to harm them.
They refuse to be alone with him in any room anymore and will leave if Belphegor enters the room and there is no one else but them. After the first few instances, he has stopped even entering if the MC is alone.
Every time MC reaches the entrance to the House of Lamentation or is about to leave, they are constantly reminded of what they saw there. Because of this, they try to avoid leaving the house unless absolutely necessary just to avoid the entrance hall.
Sometimes, they will freeze in front of the entrance and look at the floor, as if stuck in a trance, as the memory replays itself.
They will always doubt the brothers' love for them because they know they are Lilith's descendants. This always makes them doubt themselves and make them think the brothers' feelings aren't genuine towards them, but towards Lilith.
Sometimes they still flinch when Lucifer or Belphegor make sudden movements next to them but always feel the need to apologize.
After seeing a version of them disappear, they need to constantly be reassured that the same wouldn't happen to them. They suffer now from continuous nightmares about them disappearing. Barbatos makes frequent visits to help them with this.
Every time MC is compared to Lilith, their expression immediately falls even though they try not to show it because it only makes them think that they see them as Lilith in some way.

"Hello, my love." He whispered, knowing you weren't quite asleep yet. You felt the other side of the bed sink slightly as an arm wrapped itself around your waist and pulled you closer to him.
"Mm," You mumbled and shifted to fully face him and hug him in return. "You're late, again," You let out a disgruntled complaint and frowned in your drowsy state. Kazuha hummed before letting you rest your head on his chest.
"I know, Captain Beidou had a lot of work for me today since we still have to restock supplies for the next journey. I promise to come home early tomorrow." He pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead as a satisfied smile spread across your face.
"You better. I want to spend more time with you before you leave," You sighed before snuggling closer.
"That we will, worry not. Would you like to go somewhere tomorrow? We could travel all the way to Qingce village; I've heard that is quite a beautiful place."
"Will we have enough time?" You mumbled, feeling like you were about to fall back into a deep sleep.
"We should if you are ready to wake up early," He whispered before placing his lips on your earlobe, sending a shudder down your spine.
"No, your early is too early for me." He chuckled in response, still next to your ear. "Plus, I haven't had enough of you yet." You pushed yourself up and placed an elbow beside him to ground yourself as you met his eyes.
"Oh, my. Someone is getting greedy. Shall I make sure I leave you satisfied until I come back?" Before you could respond, he pushed up and turned you to lay on your back. He brushed his lips against your temple, a feather-like touch gliding across to your cheek, then jaw, before finally settling in the crook of your neck. A sharp breath left your mouth as you pushed your hand into his hair and brushed his strands with your fingers.
"Kazu-ha," You mumbled as your voice broke in between to release a satisfied gasp and closed your eyes as he left open-mouthed kisses along your skin, taking his time with each mark he left. You felt your chest rising and sinking quicker as your breathing began to grow heavy. He hummed against you and adjusted himself so now he was fully on top of you.
You felt his hands roam before grabbing onto your thighs and rubbing them in a back-and-forth motion. His thumbs grazed dangerously close to where you ached the most, teasing you just to hear the sounds you could muster up. All while his lips attacked every possible spot on your neck, slowly descending to give attention to your collarbones.
"Who knew I was in love with such a songbird?" He looked up at you through the haze clouding his eyes. "The longer I am away from you, the more I crave to hear you once more. Just to listen to your beautiful noises, over and over," He sighed before leaning forward once more and kissing your jaw. His fingers thrummed along your skin before they found purchase under your thighs and hooked your legs around his waist.
"I-" Your broken voice slipped out of your lips as Kazuha lifted his head to wait for you to continue, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Yes, my love?" He cooed as he began placing pecks along your jaw, making it harder for you to form coherent thoughts. You could feel his smile growing as you tried to find the words to convey what you wanted to. "What do you want me to do, hm?" He whispered before placing his lips against yours, ever so gentle.
You whined before giving up trying to speak and simply wrapped your arms around his neck, reciprocating right away. Kazuha tilted his head to deepen the kiss and grazed his teeth against your bottom lips, catching it between them before kissing again as if to soothe the pain. At last, he pulled away and gazed down at you.
"Shall we stop here and get some rest?" He continued to whisper and pushed a strand of hair behind your ear. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, causing your boyfriend to chuckle above you. "I thought you wanted to spend some time together tomorrow."
"You can't tease me and then just decide to stop!" You cried before pulling him back down and continuing from where you left off. He breathed out a laugh into the kiss and placed his hands on your cheeks, bringing your faces impossibly closer.
"Aren't you tired?" You heard him mutter between your kisses and simply shook your head.
"Not anymore," You answered back quickly before you felt his hands travel underneath your shirt and caress your stomach.
"Are you asking for more, then?" You tried to focus on his words but your attention shifted when his hands slithered upwards and towards your chest. You arched your back sub-consciously in response but managed to clearly nod through the high you were already facing. "Hm, I hope you're prepared for what's to come."
if you want to find love stop using dating apps and go and get brainwashed or possessed so someone has to fight you and tearfully beg you to recognize them and fight against the control you're under because they know this isn't the real you or something
2.7 end cutscene inspired me because I fell in even more love with Xiao :,) I didn't think it was possible but here we are.
If you enjoyed my work and want to look for more, here is my masterlist. Or you could request here from any of these shows!
Your cries of pain were drowned out by the heavy rain pouring down from the dark sky, as you lay in the grass now soaked with your blood. Your lifeless eyes began to shut, at last, after what felt like aeons of suffering.
"Xiao, have you ever wondered what it would be like to finally be rid of the Karma we carry?"
"Why would you ask such a needless question?" He'd replied after a moment of thought. "We lay our lives to protect the people of Liyue, and that is where it ends. We can never feel what it is like to live without the burden of our sins." He looked up at the setting sun as he stood against the railing of the terrace at Wangshuu Inn. Your shallow, heartbreaking smile didn't go unnoticed by the other Yaksha, for he looked at you from the corner of his eyes.
"Is that so?"
The memory flashed in your mind as your eyes shut, a painless expression taking over. "I suppose, I shall find out what awaits me," You tried to speak as you coughed out the remaining blood in your mouth.
"If only... I could look at you," You tilted your head to the side as your breathing became shallow, and continued, "One last time." You let the sounds of the droplets falling against the surface lull you to an awaiting endless sleep. You knew, all it would take would be one word, just one, for him to come to your rescue. All you had to do was call out his name, but it seemed so difficult. You did not want him to see you go like this. It was too painful of a thought for you.
"...Y/N!" You heard a voice calling out to you, and you wanted to turn to see who had suddenly heard your silent prayers. No matter how curious you were, your eyes refused to open up again and your hearing was far too gone to identify the owner of the voice through the thundering rain. You let the drops wash you away as you lost your consciousness.
You would finally rid yourself of this Karma.
At least, you thought you would have, until your eyes opened once more to the dim light of the moon shining through the window. The way it lit your room was almost enough to make you think you had entered the afterlife. But the pain in your abdomen brought you back to reality and you lifted your shirt to see bandages covering your torso.
You looked where your wound had been and lifted your arm to run a gentle hand across it. A sigh left your lips as you got up from the bed and tucked your shirt back in properly. After the traveller had opened up the gateway to the underground chasm, multiple monsters had grown restless and began chasing after the entrance. To make sure no mortals were injured inside the Chasm, you had been fighting off the dangers until a bullet pierced through your stomach.
A yell caught up in your throat as you kneeled, feeling a burning sensation spreading through the wound. Too focused on the monsters, you hadn't noticed a Fatui Pyroslinger standing atop a hill nearby. You looked to see him turning away and teleported to his location, slashing him with your elemental attack before he could run away.
You kept your hand against the gaping hole in your stomach as the burn from the bullet's pyro infusion spread continuously through your body.
"Y/N," You snapped out of your memories when you heard your name and saw Verr Goldet standing at the door to your room. She entered and placed a gentle hand on your shoulder. "How are you feeling?"
"Verr, what happened? I wasn't supposed to be here." She sighed and removed her hand before staring out the window.
"Xiao would be quite angry if he heard you say that. Well, not that he's not already angry." You furrowed your eyebrows at the statement, urging her to continue explaining. "He... found you near the Chasm and took you to Liyue Harbor so Zhongli and Baizhu could help him. As far as I am aware, he went back after bringing you here to collect necessary medication."
"He did all of that?"
"Is that really surprising?" She tilted her head with a small smile as you closed your eyes.
"I need to go and meet him. He didn't deserve to see me in that state, after everything he's been through." You began walking past her when she spoke up again.
"Let him be, for now. He will want you to rest rather than go out once more. You can talk once he's back." Contemplating her reasoning, you nodded your head and continued walking.
"I'll be on the terrace, then." You walked up the staircase slowly and reached the top floor of the Inn. The breeze felt much better with the open surroundings as you walked further and leaned against the railing. The wind rustled your hair ever so slightly and you tucked a few stray strands away from your eyesight.
Your gaze fell to the ground beneath and you stared at guests at the Inn taking strolls along the river. "How am I supposed to protect these people when I can't even control myself?" You looked at your hand as you remembered how you had almost lost control due to your overwhelming karma after being attacked. To not cause casualties, you had to let yourself bleed out so you would have no power left to even move.
"I had no choice," You whispered, trying to convince yourself that it was the best possible decision. You clenched your fist and placed your knuckles against your forehead as a frown took a place on your face.
"Y/N!" The voice cut sharply through the silence, and you looked behind to see Xiao rushing over to you. Before you could say anything, he grabbed your face and pulled you closer to him. "What the hell were you thinking?! Did you lose your mind to attempt such a stunt?!" His voice was hoarse with anger and frustration as he glared at you.
"Xiao, I-" You tried to reason with him, but you had no argument against him. He was right: as an Adeptus, as a Yaksha, you should have been able to handle the situation much better. When you went silent, Xiao exhaled heavily but let go of you, stepping back to give you some space.
"Why didn't you call out for me?" He looked at the ground as he asked, not wanting to see your sorrowful expression any longer.
"I didn't want you to see me in that state." You answered truthfully and looked up to see his reaction. His head snapped to look you in the eyes.
"'To see you in that state'?! Is that what you were worried about?! What about our oath to protect one another? Or did you think it was made simply for reassurance?" His eyes raged like you had never seen before. "If I had been even a minute late, I would have lost you."
"Xiao, you have been through so much. For you to see me like that would have been too cruel." Your vision blurred as tears began welling up in your eyes. His eyes widened as he looked at you in confusion.
"And me finding you dead, when I could have done something about it wouldn't have been? All these centuries together, just for you to be ready to leave like that?" He asked, a lot calmer this time, as he stepped closer. "Y/N, we didn't take that oath so you could forget about it when you saw fit." You could hear the hurt in his voice as it strained the more he spoke.
"I know." Feeling guilty for your actions, you stared at your feet. You felt his hands cupping your cheeks and lifting your head to look back at him. Surprised at his actions, your eyes widened.
"I can't lose you too. So, please, call out my name when you find yourself in trouble- and I shall do the same." You nodded right away and placed your hands on his, feeling the warmth you never thought you would receive.
"I promise." You whispered as you stared at him.
"Good, because just thinking about what could have happened- I," He stopped himself from speaking further and looked away.
"But I'm here now because of you. I'm right in front of you." You attempted to gaze into his eyes, but he continued to stare beneath, at both of your feet. You wanted to see the beautiful shine of his golden irises again. "Xiao, look at me," you whispered in desperation, and he lifted his head up with hesitation. Your hands moved away from his and cupped his cheeks in return.
"I'm right here," You reassured him once more, your voice becoming softer by the second.
"Then, continue to stay by my side, as you always have," He pleaded, and you pressed your forehead against his.
"I will," You whispered as your thumbs caressed the sides of his face as you stared back into his hurtful eyes.
"I don't want to lose you,"
"You won't," You replied without waiting. "I was wrong to not call for you, but I know now. I will never leave you again." You cherished each other's presence as silence fell upon you, your foreheads still against the other. The gentle whistle of the wind brought forth a lovely tune, as if to serenade the two of you underneath the night sky.
"Xiao, can I kiss you?" You muttered, at last, not wanting to hold the question back anymore. You could see the shock take over his face as he stared at you as if to see if you were lying. Once he saw the look in your eyes, however, you could feel him relax in your hold. He simply nodded and closed his eyes, waiting for you to take initiative.
At that moment, it only felt right when you leaned forward and pressed your lips against his. You heard Xiao release a sharp breath through his nose before you felt his hand slide across your cheek and through your hair. His reciprocation urged you to get even closer and wrap your arms around his neck, so you did, while he wrapped his free arm around your waist.
All you needed was this moment to feel everything Xiao had to give you, and you wanted to give him your all in return. As his lips pressed further against yours, you felt him push you slightly against the railing, so you leaned back on it and let yourself be entranced by him.
"Y/N," he whispered between your kisses as his breathing grew heavy, but he'd rather continue feeling you against him than worry for air. Neither of you were ready to let go, afraid the other might disappear. So, you clung to one another in desperation, pulling at each other's clothes to get as close as possible.
Once you both opened your eyes and found yourselves looking at each other, all else faded away. There was only him, and there was only you. You felt tears prick your eyes once you saw his intense gaze on you, lost in the heat of the moment. So, you closed yours and leaned your forehead against his shoulder.
"Don't hide away from me now: I want to see all of you," he hummed and stroked your hair, his fingers as gentle as possible.
"How can you say such things without so much as a flinch?" You laughed through your tears and tightened your arms around him.
"Because I now know what I've been doing wrong. Let me correct it." He took a deep breath before continuing, "And I want you to look at me once more." Startled by his sudden directness, you looked up as he met your gaze right away. "Look only at me," He whispered before cupping your cheek and kissing you. A sigh left your lips as you closed your eyes, relishing the moment for as long as possible.
Your hands slid into his hair and softly stroked his locks as they brushed past them. The gentle and hesitant feeling of Xiao's lips melted away the longer he kissed you, instead, becoming desperate for more of your touch. "Don't leave me again," he begged, not letting you answer back as his lips were on yours again. You both knew there was nothing else to be said: the answer was obvious.
You had destroyed the walls between the both of you by kissing him first, and now none of you wanted this to end. It was clear in the way you called out each other's names, the way you conveyed your feelings without saying anything: an unspoken oath.

"Why do you think we came here?" A voice entered through the intercom as you looked up from your paperwork and to your security footage.
"I doubt they would be able to help, that is all I'm saying." A smirk formed on your face at those words, feeling ready to surprise them with your expertise on the case.
"Should I let your clients in, ma'am?" Your assistant spoke up, and you pressed your finger against the answer button.
"Yes, please." With a delicate tone, you responded and focused on the double door that led to your office. Soon after, a knock echoed through your room and you got up from your chair to saunter over to the entrance. With a smile, you opened the door to see two gentlemen standing next to each other.
"Hello, there," You greeted the taupe-haired detective before turning your gaze to the other as his blue-ish eyes widened. "Long time no see. Please, come in."
"Hello, my name is Haru Kato, and this is Daisuke Kambe. I suppose you already know that, though, right?" Haru asked as he walked in with Daisuke following closely behind.
"Yes, that I do. On the same note, I suppose you know my name already due to the files we were given, but proper introductions are still in order. My name is [Y/N] [L/N]. It is a pleasure to meet you both." With your hand out for a handshake, you made eye contact with both men as Haru took your hand in his before Daisuke followed suit.
"Take a seat, please. Let's get right into the details." You waved your hand over your desk to motion them to sit down as you did the same on the opposite side. Your eyes shifted towards Daisuke, who was currently looking around your office decor, taking in all the files and books on the wooden shelves, the neatly stacked papers and your shut-off laptop resting on the polished Dalbergia table. Finally, his curious gaze settled on you, trailing up your form to meet your eyes.
"Am I... interrupting something by being here?" Haru spoke up, hesitation clear in his voice. A smirk formed on your face before you turned back to the fidgeting detective, who had already taken his seat.
"No, my apologies. Your partner seems quite interested in this office, so I was merely fascinated. Let's get started, shall we?"
"Yes, please." He sighed and signalled the black-haired male to pay attention.
"Through a few sources of mine, I have been able to find a few witnesses of the site-bombing. Though, as expected, they are keeping shut about it."
"Wait, you've already found witnesses?" Haru looked up from the file you handed him, his eyes wide from surprise.
"Why, of course! Why do you think they hired a freelance detective such as me? I do hope I continue to surprise you; it's quite amusing to see your reactions." With a smile, you leaned back in your chair and began to explain how you made such progress. Needless to say, their reactions were your sole source of entertainment at the moment.
"Then, how do you plan to make them talk? Surely, they have someone they fear. There is no other reason for all witnesses to act similarly."
"Anyone will talk with enough money slapped in their faces. All I have to do is prepare a couple cheques." With a dismissive wave of your hand and a shrug of shoulders, you looked up at the two. Both men glanced at each other before turning back to you.
"Did this guy teach you that too?" Haru asked as he jabbed his thumb in Daisuke's direction.
"You always seem to assume I am the bad influence." A small frown formed on Daisuke's face as he turned to his partner, his disappointment clear as day.
"Actually, I might be the one who taught him that instead." You looked over at him once more and smiled genuinely. "Anyway, I think we should meet up at the crime scene tomorrow at noon. This file contains some more details that would be best looked over again." You tapped on the folder that lay on the desk in front of Haru.
"Sure thing. Let's meet up later, then. I'll let you know if I find some more information."
"That would be great! Thanks," You said and began to stand up so you could see both men outside when Haru spoke up once more.
"Um, since we are done with business, there's a question I've been meaning to ask you." His hesitation did not go unnoticed by you but you nodded, nonetheless. "How do you two know each other, if you don't mind answering."
"You were nervous about asking that?" Daisuke stepped in after getting up from his chair.
"Well, I didn't know if it would be rude of me!"
"Oh, you don't need to be worried about any formalities. Please, feel at ease. We may be working together for quite a while so it's better we get comfortable with each other." You smiled to reassure the nervous detective before continuing, "To answer your question- our meeting wasn't really all that interesting. The first time we met was simply due to our parents at a very young age. But, I suppose they didn't intend for us to be friends, considering their reactions when they found out." You chuckled as you thought back to the memory while a small smile formed on Daisuke's face.
"You would always cling onto me and call me out of nowhere. It was only a matter of time till they found out."
"I did not!"
"You did," As expressionless as ever, he stared at you to indicate he had won the argument. He wasn't wrong, but you didn't want to admit being that way in your younger days. Before you could continue, a ring tone echoed within the room and Haru reached into his pant pocket to pull out his phone.
"I need to take this, I'll wait outside for you two to finish. It was nice meeting you, [Y/N]." He bowed before walking out.
"Nice meeting you too," You replied before turning your attention to the remaining detective. "Well, don't I get a reunion hug, Daisuke Kambe?" You spread your arms in anticipation, and he shook his head before walking over. The smile on your face widened as his arms wrapped around your waist, and yours secure around his neck. With a relieved sigh, you nuzzled your face into the crook of his neck and closed your eyes, relishing the moment for as long as you were allowed to.
"I missed this," You mumbled before feeling one of his hands trail up your back, the feather-like touch of his fingers travelling up your spine before reaching the back of your head. His fingers spread between your hair, caressing each strand they touched, as he cradled your head and pushed it closer to him.
"I did too, and I missed you as well." He spoke into your hair and closed his eyes. You bit your lower lip at his forwardness and tightened your grip on him. "I see your style still hasn't changed. What happened to your equipment?"
"I'm not going to reveal all my secrets just yet." You pulled your head back enough to look at him with a smug look. "Plus, it's not like you show me your computer at your house. Why should I show mine?"
"Correction: you've actually seen my computer."
"That's because Suzue showed it to me, not you," You countered and stuck your tongue out at him. A smirk formed on Daisuke's face as he pretended to lean closer and bit the air, making you pull your tongue back in before he could actually catch it.
"Daisuke!" Flustered, you hit his chest and attempted to pull away from your hug but he only tightened his grip. Taking this opportunity to hide your flushed face, you pressed it against his chest when you felt it vibrate due to his chuckles. "I will get you back for this, just you wait."
"You can do that now; what are you holding off for?" Your breath hitched at the question and you reluctantly looked up to see him looking down at you. His hand found its way to your nape and gently stroked the skin, causing goosebumps to form in response to his touches. Before you could reply, you felt a buzz in Daisuke's jacket pocket. You both pulled back as he took his phone out and looked at the screen.
"What a timing, huh." He sighed and declined the call before stuffing his device back in and looking at you. "Haru's calling, he's probably done with his phone call. I should get going before he nags at me."
"Right," You agreed and cleared your throat before crossing your arms. "I'll see you out." Noticing your lack of expressions, he smirked before following you out.
"I'll be waiting," He said as you exited the building, making you look at him in confusion. However, once you caught the look in his eyes, all your questions disappeared and you attempted to hide your embarrassment through laughter.
"Waiting for what?" Haru spoke up as he looked from his screen and back and forth between you and Daisuke.
"Just- tomorrow! You know, for the investigation." You answered a little too quickly and slapped yourself mentally, before regaining your composure. "Alright, then, I'll see you both tomorrow."
"That we will." With a confident look, Daisuke turned around and followed Haru down the street, leaving you to deal with your mind in a mess.
How can you be so unfair?
With that, you walked back into your building, hoping tomorrow would not test your limits.

Part 1: | Lost You |
"Another day, another battle." You stretched your arms above your head, admiring the view as you were elevated onto the upper floors of the building. Waiting for the mobile container to come to a stop at the top, you looked back down at the ground and noticed no monster in sight.
The mechanism rattled before seizing its movements, and you rushed out before it went down again. You entered the Inn and walked down the stairs to greet the boss.
"Good afternoon, Verr," You greeted as you leaned against the counter, exhausted after having cleared the area around Wangshu Inn for a good part of the day.
"Good afternoon, Y/N." She bent down to pull something out of the drawer in the reception desk before placing a bag of mora in front of you as compensation for your work.
"Thank you so much for keeping our surroundings safe. The monsters have been getting particularly agitated recently so we need as much help as we can get," She explained and sighed before shaking her head in worry but spoke no further. The abrupt pause made you turn to see Verr looking up the stairs behind you. She looked up to see a certain male disappearing behind the staircase as soon as he was spotted, causing her to chuckle as you followed her gaze.
"Was Xiao just here?" You asked and turned back to look at her as she nodded, a gentle smile still on her features.
"Thank you so much for convincing him to go to the festival, by the way. It really means a lot to me that he has found the courage to attend at least once." You smiled at her words and waved a hand in front of your face.
"It was nothing. I just hope he doesn't change his mind."
"Don't worry. I'll make sure he arrives in the city. Speaking of which- don't you think you should invite your friends from Mondstadt to join you?" Your smile dropped in an instant as you turned your head to look outside but Verr continued, "You have talked so much about wanting them to join you and now that the time has come, you don't seem to even remember about them."
Whether she chose to ignore your obvious disinterest to discuss this topic or truly didn't notice, she was determined to help you contact your friends again. You didn't blame her; you couldn't. You never told her the entire story, after all, so she was unaware of the struggles that forced you to travel once more.
"They're too busy to attend," You stated and took the bag of mora from on top of the desk before beginning to walk away.
"You still have time to deliver the message, just in case," She yelled so you could hear her properly as you walked out with a sigh. Now back in the elevator, you looked out once more and stuffed the mora in your backpack. It would take you around five more hours to reach Liyue Harbor and settle in for the day so you began making your way back.
Go back to Mondstadt to invite them over here for the festival? There is no way I have the courage to do that.
You sighed to yourself as you exited the elevator and jogged lightly out of the area and towards the city, making sure not to encounter any monsters for an easier journey.
"Finally," You pushed your hair back as you walked up the staircase leading to Katheryne's station to collect your compensation for today's commissions. As you reached the desk, she turned to you and spoke up before you could greet her.
"Traveler, Ad Astra Abyssosque. I have been waiting for your arrival." You tilted your head as you stood in front of her. She brought out an envelope and placed it on the wooden table between you two as she stared at you with no further explanation.
"Uh, what is this for?"
"Could you deliver this letter to the Mondstadt Katheryne? It is an important message and must be delivered as soon as possible. It should be fine if you leave tomorrow, though, since it is already almost nighttime." With her hands intertwined in front of her torso, as usual, she answered in her monotonous tone. You stared at her, eyes wide from the shock of such a coincidence.
"Is this a joke?" You asked, not caring if she understood the meaning behind your words.
"Sorry, traveler, but it would not make a funny joke if it was one." With a shake of her head, she dismissed the idea without hesitation.
"Why do you have to deliver this suddenly? Why not any other day?"
"The guild cannot divulge much information but since you are a valuable member, all I can tell you is that this is related to the lantern rite and the involvement of treasure hoarders."
"You know, the last time I had such an assignment, it turned out to be false." The memories of your work in Mondstadt flashed in your mind as you relayed your experience. A sudden rush of chill ran down your spine and you turned your gaze to the ground contemplating your decisions right then and there.
When you looked up once more, Katheryne had her head tilted as she scanned your expression. With her intent gaze, you rolled your eyes and snatched the envelope from the table and began stomping away as the robotic girl spoke up to stop you.
"Traveler, your compensation for today's commissions is still left!"

"Why do I get the feeling they are scheming against me?" You muttered to yourself as the sun rose from behind the hills while you walked past the Dawn Winery, finally having made your way to the last city you wanted to be in. To avoid pushing this task back any longer, you had set out on the journey the same day you were given the letter.
As you gulped down a few sips of water from your bottle, you looked up at the mansion, remembering your days spent here, as you walked down the dirt path that led closer to the main city. Tingles ran through your body as if they were pinching you on your arms and legs while you continued your journey. At this rate, you weren't sure if it was due to the fatigue or your uneasiness at coming back.
It had been quite a while since you thought about Mondstadt, not because you didn't want to but because you simply hadn't found the time to look back. The moment you stepped in Liyue Harbor, you were met with many interesting people who had made you forget about your pain. With time, that pain only ended up becoming somewhat of a fond memory that made you grow stronger.
I might have to thank Kaeya for that one.
You chuckled to yourself as you picked up your pace, feeling your steps lighter than before. You trudged on and finally saw the walls towering above the ground and standing tall to protect the citizens from danger. Your lips pressed together in a tight grip as you walked over the bridge, your hand running along the railing as you got closer to the knights guarding the front gate.
"Swan, Lawrence," You greeted with a bow of your head as they bowed back.
"You're back, traveler!" Lawrence cheered as he looked up with a smile, making you smile back at both of them.
"For a little while, yes." With the brief conversation, you finally stepped within the visual boundaries of the city of freedom and looked around the familiar buildings. Your shoulders slumped at the sight, and you walked over to the Adventurer's Guild station to greet Katheryne.
"Hello, there," You spoke as you stepped up to the desk and leaned over it, smiling at the person who had guided you for your first few days.
"Traveler, you've finally arrived." She turned to you fully with her hands cupped at her torso, as usual. Of course, she had been expecting you. The Katherynes around the nations somehow seemed to communicate telepathically. Then why the need to send each other mysterious letters?
"The Liyue Katheryne wanted me to deliver this to you. I assume you already know about that, though." With a shrug, you placed the envelope on the table and slid it over to her as she took it in her hands with a nod.
"Naturally," She mentioned while she opened the letter slowly and glanced at it before looking up at you. "You have begun to understand concepts out of others' reach."
"Traveling around can do that to you," You sighed and pushed yourself off the desk to hear your name get called out.
"Y/N! Where have you been?" You turned around at the yell only to get tackled in a tight hug by a figure clad in red. After getting over your initial shock, you wrapped your arms around the person when you noticed the familiar bunny ears on their head.
"Amber," You mumbled and melted in the embrace, closing your eyes as you let yourself lose to the bliss of feeling at home.
"You left without saying anything. Do you have any idea how much that hurts?" She muttered into your shoulder, her left cheek definitely squished against it, and tightened her grip around you.
"I'm so sorry," Your gaze turned to the ground as you let your hands wander to grab her face so you could look at her. "But I'm back for a while and I'll make it up to you!" Her face lit up slightly as she relaxed and nodded.
"Oh, I was about to go to the headquarters. You have to come and meet everyone!" You wanted to say no immediately as your first instinct but then remembered that you had to extend the invitation to Master Jean, anyway.
"Alright, but I won't stay long." With a reluctant smile, you let yourself get dragged by the hyperactive outrider. As you walked up a set of stairs, the girl ahead of you turned to look at you with a small smile.
"Hey, you still didn't answer to me back there. Why did you leave without telling us?" Her eyes crinkled as her lips quivered, the corners of them turning downward.
"I think you should've asked Kaeya that." You looked away, feeling a weird sensation after saying his name after months. "He was the last one to see me."
"But," Amber started, her eyes wide as she stared in front of her. "He never said anything about that." Her grip on your hand tightened in a gentle grip as she sped up, giving you no time to react and ending up getting yanked to run after her. "No worries, we'll ask him about it right now. He's in the headquarters!" She determined with a firm tone as you entered the building and walked straight into Jean's office.
"Amber, you should've knocked first! We're sorry, Master Jean!" You bowed immediately as Amber gasped before following you closely and bending her upper body like you.
"Y/N?" You looked up at the breeze-like voice to see Kaeya and Lisa standing beside Jean's desk, while the Dandelion Knight, herself, sat on her chair. You stared at each of them in silence and straightened yourself.
"Hello, everyone." You waved your hand, feeling yourself shake with hesitance as you smiled an uncomfortable smile at them.
"Is that really all you have to say, darling?" Lisa broke the momentary silence with ease and shook her head in disappointment. "After leaving without so much as a goodbye, you return and give us a measly wave," She continued as she stepped closer to you and grabbed you by the shoulders, pulling you into her to give you a motherly hug.
"I'm sorry. I know I should've said something, but sudden plans popped up and I just... had to leave. But, I plan to go with a proper farewell this time." You pulled away to look at her in the eyes and then turned to Jean, who was now standing in front of her desk. Finally, your gaze met Kaeya's. Letting go of your previous reservations, you gave him a small smile, and his eye widened at the gesture before returning to its previous shape as he smiled back a small one as well.
"Oh? Are you not here to stay once more?" Jean chimed in, her arms crossed in front of her as she tilted her head. With your attention to her now, you could only shake your head as you looked at the floor.
"Then, are you here to visit us?" You turned to Amber as she jumped in delight, her eyes showing sparkles at last. Even as you explained to them the reason for arriving in Mondstadt, Kaeya remained quiet the entire time, observing you with his watchful eye as he kept his arms at his hips.
"Lantern Rite, you say?" The man you had been treated silently by spoke and placed his hand on his chin, a gloomy expression forming on his face. Upon a look at his face, you could assume what he was thinking about at the mention of the festival.
"Yes, my friend in Liyue was very keen on sending me all the way back so I could invite you. I'd love to see you there too, of course. But I also understand if you all are busy." With a brief glance at everyone in the room, you folded your arms and waited for their response.
"We'd love to be there!" Amber clasped your hands in hers as she beamed at you. "But first, we have an important matter to discuss. Captain Kaeya, you have some explaining to do." With her hands on her hips, she frowned at the blue-haired male, who looked at the smaller girl in confusion.
"I was told by a certain someone that you were the last person to see Y/N before they left for Liyue. What did you do?" You tried to hold your laughter and ended scoffing at the question as you turned to the accused, interested to see how he would handle the question.
"Ah, so that's what this is about," He mused and tilted his head to look at you. You, on the other hand, tightened your lips in a smirk and broke eye contact with him as you swayed your upper body. "Could I talk to them before I tell you the entire story?" Not waiting for Amber to respond, he sauntered to you and offered his hand.
"If he doesn't tell you, I will," You reassured before placing your hand in his palm and letting him lead you outside Jean's office and on a stroll outside of the headquarters.
"You haven't even been here a day and you're already causing trouble for me, huh," He chuckled before letting go of your hand gently and placing his own behind him to intertwine them. "I'm surprised you haven't yelled at me yet." He turned his gaze to look in front of him as you tilted your head at him, confusion in your eyes gone unnoticed.
"Why would I yell at you?" With a little chuckle, you shrugged, causing him to look back in your direction. "I mean, I don't know why you did what you did, but... I think it was for the best." A small smile made its way on your lips as you stared ahead with a distant look in your eyes. "Plus, it's not like I'm one to hold a grudge for a long time. That's never necessary."
The bright rays of the sun shone down on both of you as you strolled down the set of stairs in front of the headquarters. You kept your gaze on the steps as you slowly descended but had an idea of what Kaeya looked like at the moment.
"So, you don't feel the slightest bit of anger towards me?" He exhaled a shaky breath when you shook your head.
"Kaeya, were you that worried about it?" He remained silent so you turned around to see him standing still with a hand on his chest. You two stood on the higher ground that let you see the market in Mondstadt, but neither of you was focused on the bustling city. The captain's confidence had wavered, and for the first time, you saw him show any emotion other than his flirtatious self.
"My apologies, it isn't like me to act in such a way." He shook his head and smiled a gentle one at you, his hand still on his chest. "I have just been wondering if I could have done something better. You did leave in a hurry, after all." A deep chuckle escaped from the depth of his throat as his gaze turned back to the ground.
"Please, don't worry about it. I know I acted prematurely that day, but I've been thinking quite a lot about what I did. I think what you did was probably for the best. I feel like I have... never been happier." A genuine smile appeared as you looked back up at him to see his gaze lingering on you.
"I mean, I don't know why I stopped travelling. It's been so much fun, and I have only been to Liyue. There is so much more for me to explore," You moved your hands around as to express your excitement and finally looked at Kaeya once you were done to see him smirking down at you.
"Sorry," You muttered and rubbed the back of your neck as you breathed out a nervous chuckle.
"Please, by all means, continue- I'd like to hear what you have been doing."
"We'll be here all night, then." You sighed before placing your hands on your hips. "Anyway, despite everything that has happened, I would like it if you can make it to Lantern Rite. Plus, just because I left does not mean our promise to watch it together does not stand anymore."
"Ah, is that how it works?" He pretended to think to himself, keeping his eye still on you to look for your reactions.
"You're not gonna be mean and turn me down again, are you?" You pouted and tilted your head in dissatisfaction.
"You think I would go that far?" He placed his hand on his chest, only this time, to feign being hurt.
"Do you want me to answer honestly?" You leaned forward as a means to challenge him and looked at him, mischief shining in your eyes.
"My, my, I see how it is. Very well, then, I will definitely have to prove you wrong and be there for the festival. Don't you think?"
"We'll see about that." With your arms crossed, you shifted your weight on one leg and looked up at him in confidence.
"I can't guarantee that Master Jean will be able to make it, though. She has been quite busy lately and barely has time for herself."
"I expected that much. People here ask too much of her." You shrugged and rubbed your temple as the bluenette nodded in response, feeling terrible in place of the Acting Grand Master.
"When do you plan on leaving?" He asked suddenly, making you wrap your fingers around your chin.
"Well, I was planning to leave shortly after inviting you."
"Surely, you can afford a change of plans. Just for today," He offered, the corners of his lips lifting up slightly. "How about a few drinks to celebrate your arrival tonight? We can invite the others if you'd like." You let out a little laugh at his offer, looking up at him with a knowing look.
"I think it's only fair that I treat you to something as a way of apologizing, no? We have quite a lot to catch up on." With his last justification, he looked at your expression for any change.
"Only if you promise to come to visit Liyue during the Lantern Rite." A little chuckle escaped his lips as he looked at the ground for a brief moment before making eye contact with you.
"You have a deal," He said, bringing his hand forward to shake yours.
"Perfect." With your hand in his, you two smiled at each other and began walking back to the headquarters. Silence took over the two of you as you indulged in the calm breeze during the walk back.
Perhaps, you had nothing to worry about; you thought to yourself as you turned your head to look at the captain once more. His serene expression only confirmed the thought, as both of you finally felt at peace with each other.

Part 2: | Found Me |
“They surely put up a fight,” You sighed as you wiped your brow with your forearm, letting the sleeve of your clothing absorb the sweat.
“Some groups can be quite a mess to handle,” Kaeya chuckled as he adjusted his gloves and walked beside you. You both strolled through the Whispering Woods as you made your way back to Mondstadt after completing a Favonian job regarding the treasure hoarders.
It was a mere commission, at first, for you to recon and assess the situation. You were given intel about a large group hiding out nearby and paying for information on the Knights of Favonius. Kaeya insisted on joining you due to the seriousness of the situation, not to mention, issues like these were professionally handled by the knights, only for the information from the guild to turn out completely false.
“Let’s hope we don’t have to continue dealing with them over trivial matters such as meaningless suspicions anymore.” You shrugged, shaking your head in disappointment, causing Kaeya to hum in amusement.
“My, and here I thought that you were enjoying my company. I suppose I was wrong.” A frown took place on his lips as he looked away, raising his hands in defeat.
“That’s not what I meant!” You exclaimed but when Kaeya looked at you, unconvinced, you whined out his name before lightly punching his upper arm. “Why do you like turning situations against me so much?”
“What can I say? Your reactions are absolutely delectable,” He emphasized each syllable and looked right into your eyes with his narrow ones. Yours, on the other hand, only widened at his bold remark.
“Y-you can’t just say things like that out of nowhere!” You turned away and increased your pace to avoid being caught with a blush blossoming on your cheeks.
“Your tiny legs won’t help you escape me, you know?” He muttered against your ear as he caught up to you with ease and smirked at you.
“How dare you?” You gasped and placed your hand against your chest as he laughed and placed a gentle hand on your upper back to usher you towards the upcoming bridge.
“Now, now, I’m only speaking facts. You can’t escape me easily, after all.” It’s not like you wanted to, in the first place. “Not that I would let you anyway,” He continued as stared down at you from the corner of his eye, a confident smirk forming on his lips.
As much as you hated to admit it, the Cavalry Captain had quite the effect on you that you could never let go of. As you thought to yourself, you turned a bashful gaze to the ground and let him lead you back into the city so you could report your findings to the Acting Grand Master.
---
The sky had turned to a pinkish-orange hue by the time you finished the day’s work and made your way to the Favonius headquarters. You allowed yourself a brief glance above you, admiring the beauty of the silver-lining of the clouds as the sun lowered towards the horizon. Upon realizing the scene displayed to you, you only sighed to yourself, still not fully capable of appreciating what was in front of you. There was only one reason for it, one regret that kept eating away at you.
Perhaps, you should have conveyed your feelings when you were still talking like any other day with him.
You thought to yourself as you walked into the headquarters, it having been at least a week since you last had a conversation with him. You were determined to find out if you had made a mistake and were ready to make up for it. With a deep breath, you knocked on the mysterious man’s door and waited for a response, only to be greeted with silence.
“Kaeya, I’m coming in,” You called before turning the knob and pushing open the door to find his office empty. With a disheartened grunt, you closed the door and walked down the hallway, a different destination on your mind. With quick steps, you reached another door and knocked twice before receiving a response from the other side. You opened it and entered the room, looking up to meet eyes with the calming ocean blue gaze.
“Master Jean, I’m sorry to disturb you at this time of day, but I had to consult you.” You closed the door behind you before walking over to her desk and placing your palms flat on the polished wood. She looked up at you with concern and placed her quill down.
“Is everything okay, Y/N?” You ran a nervous hand through your hair before spilling your worries to her.
“I probably shouldn’t think too much about it, but it has been eating away at me ever since. The thing is, I have not been able to contact Captain Kaeya for more than a week. Has he been extremely busy lately?” An uncertainty flickered in her eyes as she sat up straight and placed her hands on the desk. Her demeanor created an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of your stomach and you weren’t sure if you wanted to hear what she had to say anymore.
“I am not entirely sure, my apologies. But as far as I know, he has been working in the building for most of the time. He had quite a lot of paperwork to deal with this week.”
“So, he was here all along?” Your voice came out in a whisper, afraid of cracking up if you put any more effort.
“I could be wrong, please, keep that in mind. Even I have seen him rarely lately,” Jean tried to reassure you but when you refused to meet her gaze, she tilted her head to look at you properly. “I can talk to him for you.” You snapped your head and waved your hand dismissively.
“No, there’s no need. If he wishes to speak to me, he’ll eventually come by. Thank you, Master Jean.” You forced a smile and began to drag your feet out of her office before you could trouble her further.
“Y/N,” You heard her mutter, but turned around and greeted her for the day instead.
“Have a nice evening,” With a bow, you opened the door and took your leave. You stood in front of her office for a few seconds as you contemplated your next steps. You weren’t sure if you should confront Kaeya about his sudden disappearance or let it be.
Before you could continue your train of thoughts, the door to the library opened and out came Lisa. She turned to find you lifting your head to meet eyes with her. You moved your hesitant gaze back to the floor and adjusted your outfit as you moved closer to her.
“Hey, there, cutie.” With a smile, she strutted towards you with a rolled-up document in her hand.
“Hey, what’s going on?” You lifted your voice and straightened your back as you stared at the paper, making the librarian follow your gaze. “Need me to run an errand?”
“My, it’s like you read my mind.” She smirked before shaking her head and sighing. “I’d love for some help, but I was about to go deliver this myself. It would be too much trouble to ask you after you’ve just arrived from your commissions.”
“It’s alright. I was about to leave anyway. I’ll deliver it on the way,” You offered before extending your hand to take the item from her.
“Aren’t you a dear? Thank you, darling.” With a grateful smile, she handed the document to you before continuing, “Could you pass this on to Charles? He should be at the tavern right now.”
“Sure thing, see you around.” With that, you walked out of the building. The sun had almost set entirely as the night sky began to turn a shade of velvet blue and a blanket of stars made its appearance above. It looked beautiful, like a stripe of gems sprinkled across a dark canvas. You took a momentary glance, thinking back to how you had shared your desire multiple times to travel around with such views above you to the captain.
He never seemed to mind the idea either, in fact, he had promised to travel alongside you.
“Even if it meant leaving your duties aside?” You asked as you stood on the bridge outside the front gate of Mondstadt, a location you often hung out at with Kaeya.
“Master Jean may turn quite restless at such a thought. But a few days wouldn’t hurt, now, would it?” He tilted his head in your direction as he gazed at you, a knowing smirk on his lips. You smiled at him, not knowing how naïve you had been in those vulnerable moments: sharing every and any thought with the man because you knew you could trust him.
“Well, then, let’s go to Liyue first! I’ve heard they are about to celebrate a festival called Lantern Rite. I’ve always wanted to see it,” You chuckled in excitement and looked out at the Cider Lake, feeling a shiver run down your spine just from the thought of attending the festival. The man next to you laughed in amusement, patting your head as he leaned against the railing.
“Liyue it is,” He hummed in agreement before looking out at the lake with you.
You looked ahead, snapping out of the little scene playing in your head like a scenario from a movie. Your shoulders slumped the moment you were finally alone and still making your way over to the tavern. You finally had time to think to yourself without being interrupted. You wondered if you had said something to offend even him, which was a difficult task in itself; he rarely ever took your teasing or playful insults to heart.
You feared you had lost your close friend over a reason you weren’t even aware of. You needed an explanation, at least, you thought as you walked down the stairs behind Timaeus’ alchemy stall and closer to the tavern. You clutched the roll of paper in your hand as you entered the small building and looked ahead to find Charles serving drinks to his patrons.
“Good evening, Charles. This document is from Miss. Lisa, so I assume you know what this is.” You confirmed as he greeted you and took the roll from your hand before opening it and examining its contents.
“Ah, yes, this is just the data for the transactions concerning the winery. I had to ask for Miss. Lisa’s help this time. Please thank her for me,” He requested before keeping the paper in one of the drawers.
“You asked for her help again? Well, as long as she doesn’t mind working overtime, I supposed I can’t say anything. Alright, I’ll let her know.” You smiled nonetheless and were turning around to leave but caught a glimpse of a familiar bluenette in a corner of the room. You snapped your head in the direction to see him already looking at you, a glass of wine in one hand and the other arm over his crossed over legs.
His gaze, however, drifted away from yours the moment you made eye contact. In that small moment, you could not even discern the look in his eye before he turned away. The action, unknowingly, made you furious and you stomped over to him without hesitation. You stood next to him now, towering his seated form, and had no idea what you were supposed to say to him.
He wouldn’t look at you, ignoring you as if you weren’t standing right beside him. Not trusting your voice, you slammed your hand on the table lightly to not bring attention to you two. With you bent to his height so you could look at his face, you spoke up in a whisper.
“We need to talk.” Your eyes were wide with rage. With your order conveyed to him, he finally looked at you before scanning the area around him.
“Sure, go ahead,” He spoke and placed his drink on the table. “Would you also like some wine?” He turned back to you and gave you a small smile, the action earning a gasp from you as you stepped back.
“What do you think you are doing?” You gritted through your clenched teeth.
“What else? I’m inviting you to join me.” You scanned his expression, hoping to the Archons he was joking in his own twisted manner.
“You think I’m a joke, don’t you?” He tilted his head at the question, his smirk still quite obviously present. He knew what he was doing, and he was enjoying every bit of it- you could feel it radiating from him. Hence, before you lost control, you grabbed his wrist and pulled him up from his seat. He stumbled before gaining his balance and walked beside you without uttering another word.
He knew where you were taking him the moment you turned on the left path after exiting the building. It was where you always headed when you wanted to talk to him.
“Y/N,” He whispered in a gentle tone, causing your heart to thump against your chest. After everything he made you feel, why would he think this would work on you? Why was it working on you anyway? You kept your mouth shut as you finally reached the bridge, letting go of his wrist and turning to face him fully.
“Explain yourself,” You spoke with a strong voice before crossing your arms against your chest and waiting for him to respond. Kaeya, on the other hand, opened his mouth and released a sigh before turning his gaze to the ground.
“I don’t know what you want me to say, Y/N. No matter what I tell you, you wouldn’t trust whether that is the truth or not.” He shrugged and looked over at the lake underneath you. The only sound between you was the gentle howling of the wind as it picked up its pace before turning mellow once more. “Listen, just let this go. What does it matter if I don’t hang out with you?”
Your lips quivered at the frustration that slipped out in his tone and you took a deep breath before placing a firm step forward, the click of your heel against the cobblestone echoing.
“I’m not going anywhere until you tell me why you ghosted me the way you did. I kept thinking to myself this entire week about the things I said and did just to try and figure out why.” You paused to take a shaky breath and calm yourself before your voice became any louder. Tears were pricking your eyes as you looked back up at him. “I started questioning everything about me because you never told me the reason. Don’t I deserve to know what I did wrong?”
As if having a knot snapped inside him at the question, he finally turned to you and held your shoulders in a firm grip. He bent down to your height and pulled you closer to him with a harsh tug. His fingers dug into your uniform and pressed against the skin beneath as if he were grasping in desperation.
“Y/N, stop assuming everything is about you.” He began, gritting his teeth at the sight of your widening eyes and agape mouth. He contemplated whether to continue with his reason or leave you be, but with his judgement clouded, he went with the former. “You did nothing; I simply got bored of hanging around with you.” His grip on your shoulders faltered as he noticed the waterline in your eyes forming. Even at the brink of crying, you never broke eye contact with him, searching for any emotion that contradicted the words leaving his lips.
Once his lips shut in a thin line and his eyes left yours, a little whimper left your mouth as you stared at the ground. His grip on you faded, leaving a warmth that you could only dream of feeling after today.
“What about the day you said you wouldn’t let me escape you? Did you think it would be funny to say that and leave me alone the next day?” You finally uttered, your voice shaking as you continued to stare at your feet.
“That was a genuine feeling at the time. As the day went on, I suppose, I began feeling differently.” You clenched your teeth at his nonchalant attitude towards you. “I’m not quite sure what changed, so if you were looking for a specific reason, I don’t have it.” You shut your eyes, as if that would block out the entire world and you wouldn’t have to experience such a pain building up in your chest.
“Well, isn’t this what you wanted? You demanded an answer, no?” He whispered when you remained silent, little gasps still leaving you from a sudden breathlessness. “I figured you deserved to know the truth,” He continued with a softer voice and turned his profile towards you, opting to lean against the railing of the bridge and wait for you to recover. “It was fun while it lasted, I promise.”
“That’s supposed to make me feel better?” You snapped your eyes at the male clenching his jaw at your cold tone. You were beginning to put a wall between him and you, and he could sense it the moment he looked back into your eyes. They were still wide, but they showed the emotional distance that he remembered seeing when he first met you months ago.
“What is that supposed to do for me? All it tells me is that you were just fooling around with my feelings.” You were realizing the meaning of the words as you spoke them out loud without a second thought and needless to say, the sudden burden of being used made you feel helpless and broken.
“Though, I do give you my thanks. All I needed was an answer.” You pushed your hair back and let your eyes wander to the dim rays of the setting sun behind the hills, the last of the pink hues disappearing with it. You exhaled once more, breathing much steadier now, and took a step away from him before beginning to walk back to the city.
He made no effort to stop you, confirming the end of your conversation. With one thought in your mind, however, you came to a stop a few meters away and turned to face him.
“Kaeya,” A whisper as gentle as the breeze left your lips and he turned his head to look at you. “It’s been great being here, but I’ve made my decision: I think Liyue sounds amazing as my next destination. It’s about time I began travelling the world again, no?” His exposed eye widened at your question as you gave a small smile before turning around in a swift motion, showing your back to him for the final time.
You let your tears flow freely as you entered the gates and covered your mouth to muffle any sobs that escaped. A sharp feeling bubbled up in your chest, making it hard for you to breathe through your choked cries, so you clutched onto your top in a desperate measure. At the moment, you didn’t care who saw you in this state or what they thought, as long as he didn’t see you.
It would get better with time, you told yourself, as long as you stayed away from this place. You would get over it and move on to a happier life. You convinced yourself as you made your way to your rented apartment, determined to leave before the sun rose over the city again.
Liyue truly sounded like a great place, indeed. The only difference now is you would be going alone with no plans to turn back.

"I'm so sorry for being late!" You yelled into the empty ice-rink and received the echo of your own apology as a response. You opened your previously squinted eyes and scanned the large hall for any movements. With a huff, you placed your duffle bag, with your skating equipment in it, onto a nearby bench.
"I ran all the way here for nothing, then." With the complaint out of your system, you plopped down next to your bag and began unlacing your shoes. You could just leave since your coach decided to not show up, but you argued that you needed to train if you wanted to have any chance to reach the top rankings. Your previous tournament scores were not terrible and many of your colleagues had even praised your style, but to you, it never felt enough.
Hence, here you were, practicing for your upcoming championship with no one to teach you. Once you slipped your feet into the skates and stood up, you looked around once more for your coach before taking a gentle step on the slippery surface. As soon as both of your feet were on the ice, you pushed yourself away from the fence surrounding the rink and began gliding, letting your chest lead you in various directions as you arced your back slightly.
You took a deep breath as you continued your warm-up, letting yourself loose as you spun around the rink. This, to you, was when you felt most like yourself because of how languid your movements were. It made you feel like this was when you expressed your true self, the hidden image that not many people could see. Only if this simple beauty was appreciated just as much as a skater's final spectacle.
A good 15 minutes passed by as you skated around before exiting the rink to drink some water. Once you reached the bench, you took a sip from your bottle and unlocked your phone to see if your coach sent any messages. Fair enough, there were a few texts from him explaining that he would not be able to arrive for practice today due to a few issues at home. You sighed and replied to him, saying that you could practice your previous routine on your own today.
As you placed your phone back on the bench, the glass doors to the huge hall opened, creating an echo as footsteps followed the loud swinging noise. You looked up to see none other than Viktor Nikiforov walking inside before looking around. His eyes closed the moment they met yours as a wide smile appeared on his lips before he waved at you.
"Hey, Y/N!" He greeted and walked over to you as you smiled back at him and gave a little wave of your own. "What are you doing here alone?" He looked around at the empty space once more before locking eyes with you.
"Well, my coach wasn't able to make it today, so I was just practicing on my own." You shrugged and placed a hand on your hip as the platinum-haired male dropped his bag onto the bench and hummed in thought.
"I could coach you today, then, if it's alright with you." With a little tilt of his head, he widened his smile as you considered the offer.
"What about you? Didn't you come here to practice as well?"
"But of course, I could practice while I coach you." You chuckled and nodded as he persisted.
"Alright, thank you." You trod over to the entrance of the rink once more as Viktor sat down and put his gear on. You looked over to him as he bent down and undid his laces. His bangs covered most of his face as he looked at his shoes, adding further to the charisma he held, and you could only wonder how he so effortlessly managed to pull it off. Before he caught you staring, you snapped out of your daze and shook your head to maintain focus on skating.
As you glided around with ease, Viktor stepped on the ice and skated over to you, his hands intertwined behind his back as he watched you spin before looking over at him. You smiled at him before turning in his direction and skating over to him.
"Shall we begin?" He asked and offered his hand for you to take. You wrapped your hand in his and Viktor pulled you along with him, placing a gentle hand on your upper back as he guided you across the cold surface.
"I thought we were going to practice our routines," You teased as you noticed him leading you through random moves, spinning you, and simply skating across the rink.
"But we are,"
"This seems to be more like dancing," You tilted your head to the side as you looked up at him.
"I don't hear you complaining~" He sang and closed his eyes with a wide smile as you both spun around once. You shook your head and let out a little chuckle as you let him lead you in a rhythm forming in his mind. Your eyes remained trained on his and you watched as Viktor easily maneuvered around the rink before looking back at you.
"What?" He chuckled, causing you to shake your head and break eye contact at last. The silence between you two lasted no longer than a few seconds as he lightly tapped your waist, causing you to look up before he spoke up.
"May I?" You nodded as soon as you understood his question and felt Viktor's hands glide down to hold onto your waist. He turned you around so your back faced him before his grip on you tightened. With ease, he lifted you in the air and curved around the rink as you arced your back to add to the movement. The next moment, his hands left your waist and wrapped around your leg and shoulders as he caught you mid-air before spinning around on spot. Your hands reached around behind you and wrapped around his neck as you let yourself be controlled by the adrenaline rushing through your veins.
"I know this one," You smiled and looked up at Viktor, only to see him smile back at you before letting your leg go. You swung your leg gracefully as you landed on the ice while his arm around your shoulders slipped away so you could face him. "You mentioned wanting to try this move out when we were watching clips of couples figure skating."
"So, you remembered, hm?" His smile only grew at your attention to detail as he pulled you closer.
"Of course!" You hummed as you both slowed down for a moment before pulling onto each other's arms to settle in your next move. Viktor wrapped his arm around your waist from behind you as you both performed a camel spin, your leg lifted in the air at hip level. As your spinning came to slow down, you rested your leg back on the ground and faced your partner once more, continuing to skate as his hand remained on your waist.
"If I remember correctly, you were supposed to practice your routine today, no?" Viktor tilted his head as you gasped in disbelief.
"You were the one who stirred me away from it!" You lightly hit his shoulder as you came to a slow stop near the centre of the icy ground, still hand in hand.
"You could have easily said no," He mused, enjoying every second of your banter.
"You wanted me to say no to a dance on ice with the Viktor Nikiforov?" As you two made your way back to the exit of the rink, he hummed in thought before turning to look back at you.
"You do have a point there, darling." He tapped your nose as you stepped outside the rink and made your way to your bags. Instead of showing your flustered state to the very proud man, you rolled your eyes with a little chuckle and hoped he was unable to notice that.
"My coach might ask me what I did today. He might not be very happy that I didn't practice my routine." You mentioned as you took off your skates and looked up at your temporary coach while he tapped his chin.
"How about this, then? I will assure him with an excuse and take you out for a coffee to make up for your lost time." Needless to say, you were left speechless with his second offer.
"Now?" You muttered as he nodded.
"Now," He echoed with more confidence and bent down to meet your height, his face mere inches away from yours. His bangs brushed against your forehead as they swayed with the slightest movement of his head. He continued to maintain eye contact with you with that sly smirk of his as he waited for your response.
However, unable to form words from the sudden proximity, you could only nod. Satisfied with your reaction, he tilted his head to the side before giving you mercy and pulling away to stand straight. You exhaled a shaky breath and stood up as you felt your face heat up.
"Wonderful! It's a date, then," He announced and clapped his hands together before packing his gear. As you swung your bag over your shoulder, Viktor offered his hand for you to take. With a brief glance at his face, you placed your hand in his before walking out of the hall.
This was not how you had planned for your day to go, but you were not complaining in the slightest.

A grunt escaped your lips as you banged your head against the steering wheel, not caring if the impact will cause a bruise on your forehead. The sirens in the distance indicated that your much-needed backup was finally arriving at the crime scene, where you and your partner had incapacitated the culprit. With some remaining energy, you lifted your head to stare at the police cars that stopped not too far away from where you sat in your car.
Knowing your partner would take care of filling them in on the situation, you rested your head once more and slowly ran your hand through your hair.
"I just want to go home," You complained and closed your eyes, only to open them soon as the passenger side's door opened. You did not need to turn your head as you already knew who it was and simply stayed still in the same position. No words were exchanged as he sat down and closed the door behind him, continuing to stare at you, as if he were analysing you.
"You look tired." He finally concluded and you snorted before pushing yourself off the wheel.
"No way, thanks for letting me know." You rested your head against the seat and turned to look at him as he stared back at you in curiosity.
"No, I meant you look more tired than usual. Something terrible must have happened." He shook his head and poked your forehead to irritate you further. You gasped and swatted his hand away, bringing your own on the steering wheel before you mentally prepared yourself to start the car.
"You could've said it nicely, you know?" You spared him a brief glance from the corner of your eyes before turning the key in the ignition.
"I could have, yes." He smirked in your direction as he waited for your reaction, which was exactly what he expected.
"Daisuke~" You groaned and hit him lightly on his right shoulder, causing him to chuckle. "Why do I spend time with you?" You mumbled to yourself as you changed gears but stopped before you could start driving. You exhaled and closed your eyes, feeling them burning from lack of sleep.
"What's wrong?" His playful tone disappeared the instant you drooped your head and placed it onto the steering wheel. Daisuke brought his hand closer to your face and gently moved your strands to tuck them behind your ear. His fingers lingered, almost cradling your head in his hands, as he focused his attention on your expression.
"It's probably nothing, I hope." You shook your head and turned to him to see him furrowing his eyebrows. He moved his hand from behind your head and closer to your face to rub a gentle thumb across your cheek as he continued staring.
"When is the last time you got any rest?" He looked up into your eyes but you turned your gaze away as you knew your answer would displease him. "Y/N, when's the last time you rested?" He repeated and you raised your eyes to meet his.
"I haven't slept since the last two nights." You whispered and shifted back in fear of his response. To your surprise, he only sighed and shook his head.
"I can't even pretend to be surprised anymore." He said to himself before removing his hand from your cheek and getting out of the car. You tilted your head as you stared at him while he walked around the front of the car and to your side.
"Daisuke?" You asked as he opened your side of the door and bent over you to unbuckle your seatbelt. You stared at his profile in shock and froze at the sudden proximity, while he smoothly removed the belt and gave your knee a little nudge afterward.
"Sit on the other side. I'll drive." As much as you appreciated the sentiment, you knew better than to trust Daisuke's reckless driving.
"No, it's okay. I can drive," You waved your hand lightly in dismissal and remained seated, smiling a little in hopes of winning this argument. But when Daisuke made no effort to move back to the passenger's seat, you sighed and slumped your shoulders.
"I will pick you up myself if you don't get up." He warned and looked down at you for a response. You remained silent and he bent down again in response, ready to pick you up with his hands reaching out towards you.
"Okay, okay, I'm getting up!" You raised your hands up in defence and stepped out as Daisuke stared at you with a small smirk appearing on his lips. "Alright, you can stop being so smug." You crossed your arms against your chest and pouted as you began walking to the other side while he did the exact opposite by widening his smirk. You turned your gaze away from him, feeling slightly flustered by the range of his expressions today.
I could just be exhausted enough to be delusional.
You attempted to convince yourself as you entered the car once more and buckled your seatbelt in. As Daisuke settled in the driver's seat, you took this opportunity to gaze at him once more, wanting to start a conversation. That was when you looked back outside, at the police cars that had stopped in front of the building.
"Did they take the culprit in?" You asked, your eyes still fixated on the scene.
"You don't need to concern yourself with that right now. I will let you know everything tomorrow morning, first thing." He stared at you briefly before switching his attention behind him so he could reverse the car. You huffed and looked away from the other police officers and at him in disappointment.
"Come on! I'm your partner for this case, you're supposed to tell me what's going on."
"Then you should have been there while I was briefing them." He raised his eyebrows at you as he stated the matter of the fact.
"You're so mean," You mumbled, not having a better comeback for his statement.
"You don't seem to mind that too much, I've noticed." Your eyes widened as he claimed, confidence dripping in his tone.
"That's not- I... Stop assuming everything!" You stumbled on your words and resorted to staring out the window when he scoffed at your reaction.
"Get some sleep. I'll wake you up once we reach your home." He suggested after a moment of silence and without hesitation, you nodded and leaned comfortably against the seat.
"You know where my house is, right?" You asked, as if challenging him slightly.
"How many times have I been to your house by now? Let us see," He wrapped his fingers around his chin and pretended to think, causing you to chuckle.
"Alright, alright, just making sure."
"Mhm, sure." He hummed and began driving while you focused on getting some rest since your house was not too far away. The quiet humming of the car and the whish of other cars passing by you put you to sleep a lot faster than you had anticipated.
As you drifted off, Daisuke occasionally glanced at you to make sure you were comfortable and to get a look at your sleeping face so he could tease you later about it. Your face being highlighted by the streetlights distracted him a lot more than he would prefer, but he would never admit that to you so you would never know.
Soon, you two arrived in front of your house and Daisuke parked the car in front, turning off the headlights along with the engine and looking at you. He leaned over slightly and removed your hair from in front of your eyes, getting a better look at you.
"Y/N," He whispered and ran his hand through your hair to get you to wake up quicker. "Y/N, we're home. Wake up." You only hummed in response and leaned into Daisuke's touch, to which he cracked a small smile. He pulled away and unbuckled his seatbelt before getting out of the car and walking over to open your door. After freeing you of your belt, he slid one arm under your knees and the other under your lower back, picking you up with ease.
Stepping up to your front door, he sat you down on the swing of your porch and stood straight, not knowing how to get the key from you. Hesitantly, he reached into your pant's pocket and found your house key without having to search further. He opened the front door and walked back to you, taking you once again in his arms and entering your house. It was a wonder how you had slept through all the moving around.
As he stood at the entrance, he stepped on the heel of his other shoe to take it off, repeating the process for the other, and walked further in. Carefully, he pushed his elbow against a light switch to turn on the lights for the staircase and began walking up, where your bedroom was. Once he reached the upper floor, he felt a soft hold on him and looked down to see you clutching onto his jacket, still sound asleep.
He shook his head and continued walking, tightening his grip on you as he pushed the door to your room. Gently, Daisuke placed you on the bed, causing your grip on him to release its hold as you hummed at the loss of contact. He took the blanket at the end of your bed and draped it over you before standing up straight.
"Goodnight, Y/N." He mumbled before stepping away and placing your house and car keys on the bedside table. Surprisingly, you woke up to his sound and lifted your head to see him looking at you.
"Daisuke?" You questioned, still groggy from your incomplete sleep, which made him chuckle lightly.
"Yes, it's me. Don't worry, I was just about to leave so you can rest." He whispered. His outline being illuminated from the hallway light that shone like a spotlight into your bedroom.
"What? No," You rubbed your eyes and sat up with the support of your elbow as you looked around your room momentarily. "How are you going to go at this time?"
"You shouldn't worry too much about me. I have means to get home."
"Right, of course. I forgot: you're Daisuke Kambe." You chuckled while he shook his head.
"Well, I'll get going now. Don't be late tomorrow." He fixed his hair as he looked at you and you smiled, nodding sleepily. Before he could walk away, however, you grabbed onto his sleeve and pulled him closer to you.
"Thank you so much for taking care of me, Daisuke." You sighed as you wrapped your arms around his neck while he remained stiff in your hold, unsure of what to do. When you felt his breath hitch, you wondered if you were too forward by hugging him without asking.
"Of course," He finally muttered and wrapped his arms around your back in a hesitant hug. You breathed a sigh of relief and smiled a small one when you felt his hands rub your back before you finally pulled away.
"Take care, okay?" You looked up at him and could see him smile from the features that were illuminated in the dark.
"I should be saying that to you. You're the one who hasn't gotten enough sleep." He ruffled your hair while you stuck your tongue out in mischief. "You do look adorable while sleeping, though, I must say." You let out a sound that would closely resemble shock as your eyes widened. "Goodnight, Y/N." With a knowing grin, he stood straight and walked out of your room, leaving you sitting there, speechless.
Once you heard the front door close, you finally snapped out of your daze and felt heat rush to your cheeks as you replayed his words to you. You placed your hands on your face as you felt yourself getting flustered and questioned how you were supposed to look him in the eyes tomorrow after what just happened.
There was no questioning that you would have trouble sleeping tonight as well.
