Yes, it is the school holidays but today we’ve had school students in from Belper School! This morning they’ve worked on superheroes and villains-inspired animations with Angela Terris and this afternoon watching Minions.in one of our cinemas…
A school’s workshop I enjoyed working on over the summer holidays based on superheroes and villains. It’s aim was to help kids transition from junior to secondary school.
It was great fun and the young people were enthusiastic and motivated in making their films. What more can you ask for.
‘9 LIVES’ by Erewash School Students, aged 11-18.
Animated film made by students in Erewash, Derbyshire, to raise awareness of the dangers of taking the drug MCAT.
The students worked together for two days to write, storyboard, create and film the animation which will be shown in local schools.
Collaboration between Erewash District Council, Derby QUAD and myself.
Photo Diorama’s made by KidsQUAD, aged 7 -11 years old.
This is a workshop I delivered for Derby QUAD this week where young people engaged in fun, creative, positive activities for half term. They were asked to let their imagination run free to create individual detective stories.
The young people were photographed and their image printed out at a reduced size to be placed in their designed crime scene; becoming the protagonists in their very own story.
Reblogged from quadparticipate:
KidsQUAD have been making Photo Dioramas on the theme of Detectives. There are some set in London, some underground and one even on the moon! Can you tell whodunnit?
Many thanks to Rachael who volunteered to support the sessions and Sandra, QUAD’s Education Curator.
Students from schools in Erewash in Derbyshire are working with animator Angela Terris to make an animation about the dangers of drug use. Characters, storylines and scenes are coming together and the animating has just begun.
A project I worked on recently.
The weekly programme for GoldsQUAD has provided the opportunity for participants to experience a diverse mix of arts and craft activities, working with many professional local artists including Jeni Smith, Angela Terris, Elaine Lim-Newton, Lynne Hollingsworth, Kate Smith, Spiral Arts and many more.

Images created in photography and digital manipulation sessions led by artists Clive Wheeler and Angela Terris (2014)
Working with GoldsQUAD (a group for the over 50's) is always good fun, and they enjoyed trying something new by creating double exposure images.
We used photographs taken with the very talented photographer Clive Wheeler; inspired by their surroundings in Derby City Centre. These were then used to create ethereal new images by importing them into the iPad photo editing app, InstaFusion.
Since it was the first time that the group had worked in this way they were all surprised and very pleased with what they produced.
Project: Arts and Health at Derby QUAD (Charlotte Convey 'most excellent' Arts and Health Development Worker)
Family photography workshop with children on the autistic spectrum. The activity took place at Derby QUAD Art Gallery where the children are working towards an Arts Award. We were looking at how to evidence, through documentation, participation in cultural events and activities. It was lovely to see the families working together and they produced great photographs for their portfolios.
Saltbrook Heritage Trail Community Project
Recently I was commissioned to design a large (6 x 3ft) information panel to be installed at the start of a new heritage trail in Hatton. It will be a two mile walk with sculptures and landmarks that tell the story of the village. Everyone in this small community has been invited to take part in the consultation process and be active in coming forward with ideas.
The project will focus on highlighting and celebrating the lost industry and re-establishing the identity of Hatton and nearby Marston on Dove.
If you would like to know more about the project please contact People Express.
Check out this artwork from last week’s KidsQUAD ‘Photo fun’ workshop at @derbyquad with artist Angela Terris. Participants imagined scenes/stories they’d like to be placed in, created backdrop artwork and photographed themselves in front of it or ‘photoshopped’ themselves into it…Anna shows herself as a budding artist, jungle explorer and exhibition visitor, Jeri and McKenzie are in a undersea world populated by jelly fish and a ferocious looking shark, and Rosie is reporting from Hollywood…
Expressive Art Online Workshops to Help you Bring Creativity into your Practical Life

IPAD PAINTING WITH GOLDSQUAD
This was such a good fun workshop introducing non techy people to the delights of paining on an ipad. GoldsQUAD is for the over 50’s to come together and engage in positive activities. Most of the group had never used an ipad before or even have a computer and they took to it like ducks to water.
We used the lovely app Paper by 53 and next month we will be experimenting with photo editing on the ipad too.
'TETRIS ABANDONMENT' by The Reach
A stop-motion animation made by young people attending a one day workshop creating a 2D animation out of post it notes.
Special thanks to Megan, Emily and Aaron for all their hardwork.
