"That’s no problem at all!" Nino replied, nodding. "I’m sure they’re probably very different places." Mentally, the girl gradually conjured images as to what this Ylisse might be like. Snowy like Ilia? Possibly like the plains of Sacae? Stumped, Nino spoke up again

"So… what’s Ylisse like? Do you like it there?"

"Oh, Ylisse is a great country! There’s so much land and the shoreline can be so beautiful at sunset! I’m proud to be born and raised there! I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Plus, I met my husband there and great leader, Chrom. Do you have a leader too, Nino?"

She smiled at the other as she spoke, tilting her head slightly in question.

"It sounds so lovely!" Nino's face brightened upon hearing Cordelia's description of her homeland. It truly seemed like a wonderful place; she couldn't wait to tell her party about Ylisse. Perhaps one day they could travel there, she hoped. Elibe was a geographically diverse area, and expanding horizons would be even better.

"Yes, I do!" Nino finally answered Cordelia's latter question. "Lord Eliwood is a very kind man." Her expression softened. "I have a lot to thank him for."

"I’m…from Bl—" Nino dragged out the organization’s name and hesitantly changed her tone, "—Bern. I’m from Bern!" She let out a little apologetic laugh. Technically, that was accidental, as she forgot where the organization had been located for a moment, shaking her head to dismiss the thought.

Looking up, Nino lightly tapped the tip of her index finger to her chin in thought. “Ylisse, huh…” She recalled many locations everyone in her party had said such as Laus, Ilia, and Bern. But the mentioned land didn’t ring a bell. “I’m… not sure I’ve heard of that place, actually…”

Cordelia thought that the way that Nino had dragged out where she was from was a little bit confusing but she took no notice of it through conversation. Either she had forgotten what the name was or there was something else to her that Cordelia was obviously blinded by.

"Oh, I don’t think I’ve heard of that place either."

It sounded a little foreign to Cordelia. ‘Bern’? Definitely not in Ylisse as far as she was concerned.

"Well looks like we’re in the same spot then! I don’t think either of us know each other’s country! It’s okay, I’m sure there’s some way around it!"

As the two began taking the path, Nino giggled. “Thanks! Rebecca taught me how.” As her fingers ran along the flower stems, she occasionally took a glance at the woman walking beside her. Curiosity poked at her at this point.

"Umm… I hope you don’t mind me asking, but… where are you from, miss?" Nino blinked, asking her.

"Oh, me? I’m from Ylisse! What about you?"

Cordelia smiled towards the other in response to their question. She wondered if she could make a flower crown like that. It looked so beautiful and the thought of her making it and putting it on her husband brought a light chuckle in her head. He’d look cute that’s for sure!

"Oh no, you’re fine, miss!" Nino shook her head and smiled, setting aside the flower crown and sliding off the stump to stand . A bit of a closer glance at the woman’s armor, Nino knew she wasn’t from around here.

"Ah! We’r—" She paused to recall the map her comrades often perused on their journey to their current location yet the tiny printed words couldn’t come to her. Regrettably, she hadn’t kept the name of the closest town to memory despite how constantly she heard it. "You know…" she tilted her head in thought, then smiled apologetically at the woman. "… I can’t really remember where exactly we are… I’m really sorry!" Nino picked up the crown and remaining flowers and spun on her heel, pointing at a dirt path lining the land. "But everyone else is that way. I can take you there and maybe you and me both can find out!"

This person was strange but she was reminded of Robin on how Nino didn’t remember as to where they were. She blinked in response to the other and looked around her. She was trying to find a clear sign as to where they were but it seemed that there wasn’t any.

She watched Nino grab hold of the flower crown that she made and looked towards the direction of where she pointed.

"Oh, that would be great! Your flower crown is really pretty, by the way!"

As the two began taking the path, Nino giggled. "Thanks! Rebecca taught me how." As her fingers ran along the flower stems, she occasionally took a glance at the woman walking beside her. Curiosity poked at her at this point.

"Umm... I hope you don't mind me asking, but... where are you from, miss?" Nino blinked, asking her.

Legs dangling off the wide tree stump, Nino hummed as she worked the pile of flowers next to her into a circular form. “I think this was how it went…” she muttered, her fingers fiddling with the interwoven strands of green. Staring ahead into the sea of grass, her mind wandered. When was the last time she was able to do such a thing in peace? It was not so long ago that she broke ties with the infamous Black Fang. Even so, there was still so much fighting going on. Once things settled down, it was hard to believe how much conflict ceased.

As the wind picked up, Nino heaved a deep sigh, placing her elbows on her lap and perching her chin on the palms of her small hands. A few seconds later, she picked up the flower crown, once again working with the flowers. Deep in concentration, Nino took a couple of minutes to notice the shadow of a person looming over her hunched over body. Calmly, she placed the crown in her lap and looked up. “Yes…?”

Things had taken a turn for the strange and worse possibly. Cordelia had gotten herself lost and she had no idea as to where she was. She dismounted on a small space of grass and patted her mount from where she was stood, making the pegasus whinny.

She looked around and found herself surrounded by luscious green grass, flowers and a beautiful crisp and clean breeze. The breeze pushed her shiny red locks back and forth, pushing against the softness of her face. She then noticed someone sat amongst the blissful moment. Tilting her head in curiosity, she went over to the stranger and loomed over. She jumped a little as soon as the voice had called to her.

"O-Oh! I’m sorry but.. I was just wondering where I was. I kind of got lost."

"Canas! It really has been a while! I’ve been great, thanks! How about you?"

"This one is full of big words and challenging concepts, so feel free to ask me anything you don’t know. I do think you’re up to the task, though!" Canas said, before sitting down on the bench, next to Nino, as he handed her the tome.

Nino smiled with a nod and opened the book. As her eyes scanned the sea of paragraphs, she came across the occasional concept she didn’t quite grasp. "This is so interesting!…" However, something she found as fascinating as the numerous ideas books had to offer was her uncle’s genuine passion for these books. As she lay her hands on the page she was on, Nino glanced up at Canas. “Hey, Canas… when did you start reading?”

Canas smiled at his niece-by-marriage’s inquisitiveness. Although not related by blood, they did seem to share many things between themselves, Canas reckoned.

"I suppose I got it from my mother, she used to read for my brothers and I, sometimes next to a campfire she’d summoned with magic," he reminisced, as a nostalgic feeling washed over him. "Those weren’t children stories, of course, mother read us concepts relating to the dark arts from a very young age!" he smiled sincerely.

"If you think I read a lot, wait until you mean my wife! She is a bookworm, I swear, heh heh!" he giggled, thinking back to her at home, and trying to change the subject. "After this whole ordeal is over… you will come to meet your aunt and cousin, will you not?"

"Mm, I see..." For a moment, Nino envisioned her uncle as a child, his love for reading unchanged. A mother and brothers... she couldn't help but remember Sonia, Lloyd, and Linus. She spent a bit of time, lost in those distant memories. The bitterness under Sonia, but the others she met, such as her brothers, Legault, and Jaffar...

Canas's laugh snapped Nino back to reality. She grinned back at him optimistically. "She sounds really nice! Just like you. I can't wait to meet them!" After this whole ordeal... Nino wondered how long that would be.

"Uncle Legault!" she beamed up at him. "It has been a long time! It's so good to see you!"

Sick Day | Open

Sumia was sick. She wasn’t sure how it had happened. Maybe it was falling into that pond the other day. She might have caught it from someone else, but struggled to think who else might be sick.

Still here she was shivering and sneezing and coughing. She didn’t like being sick. She felt more useless than normal, but it wasn’t something she could control. She kept herself away from Lovebirds not wanting to get the pegasus sick. Instead she had a book on her lap. Reading always made her feel better.

The story was about vicious pirates trying to take over a small island country. It was fascinating and Sumia sat there reading, completely enthralled into the story. It wasn’t until she sneezed and accidentally sent the book flying did she get pulled back out.

"Ugh."

Steadily, Nino marched in an upbeat pace, smiling up at the sun that warmed her face. She always enjoyed days like this, where everything just fell in place to make her feel as jubilant as possible. As the wind picked up, she picked up her pace and started skipping while humming. 

Faintly, she heard a sound up ahead. Slowing down, she moved her body around, trying to see beyond the rows and rows of trees. As she got closer, Nino figured out that someone was sneezing. "Hello?" she called out. No response, but an occasional sniffle. "Are you okay...?" Nino mumbled.

Upon these words, the female ahead sneezed once again and a book came into Nino's view. Nino rushed to pick it up and turned to see who had been there. "You dropped this." Nino walked over to the unfamiliar girl before her, taking a long glance at the book before handing it in the girl's direction with a small smile.
