What You Say About Mental Illness vs What You Actually Mean.
Iâm really alarmed by the misinformation I see on social media right now, so here is a little simplified guide to WTF is going on.
(Edited to work better for tumblr, I originally just made screenshots for Twitter)
What is a NAZI?
Nazi is an abbreviation for National Socialism (Nationalsozialismus) an ideology associated primarily with the 20th-century German Nazi Party (especially while it was being led by Adolt Hitler). The idea that National Socialism lived and died primarily through Hitler is actually a myth propagated by post-war propaganda and Hollywood. America destroyed those Nazis!! YAY!! â Wrong, They still exist. Although not under that name. Any far-right groups is basically a âNaziâ party (many even used the term âNational Socialismâ until a re-branding in the 80âs.
The German political scientist Klaus von Beyme describes three historical phases in the development of far-right parties in Western Europe after World War II.
From 1945 to the mid-1950s, far-right parties were marginalized, and their ideologies were discredited due to the recent existence and defeat of Nazism â because people were murdered. In droves. Like millions of people. Death camps are REAL. 11 million people died, including 1.1 million children. Thus in the years immediately following World War II, the main objective of far-right parties was survival; achieving any political impact at all, was largely not expected.
From the mid-1950s to the 1970s, the so-called âpopulist protest phaseâ emerged with sporadic electoral success. During this period, far-right parties drew to them charismatic leaders whose profound mistrust of the political establishment led to an âus-versus-themâ mind set: âusâ being the nationâs citizenry, âthemâ being the politicians and bureaucrats who were then in office; beginning in the 1980s, the electoral successes of far-right political candidates made it possible for far-right political parties to revitalize anti-immigration as a mainstream issue.
What does anybody in the far right REALLY support?
How politics work is that there is two sides. The right and the left. In the middle, Liberalism and democracy.
The far-right isnât about the âworking manâ at all. Thatâs what the LEFT is about. The Left is ALL about the public being in control. There is currently no major leftist parties in power in America (Democrats are closer to the middle - center-right, actually. They just get called the left party because nobody is).
What the right really advocates is private economic ownership (aka the rich gettingâ richer), racial hierarchy (whites better than everyone else) and Social Darwinism (which is the idea that âweakâ humans, aka the old, the sick, etc, deserve to be removed. That means gradually killed. Donât get attached to your grandma). Extreme right-wing politicians are usually extreme nationalists (âbringing back JOBS to AMERICANSâ = eventually they will exploit you as workers void of rights), and are opposed to immigration. They are also profoundly chauvinistic (that means women are seen as inferior).
Is Trump a representative of the extreme right?
Most definitely, since he supports all that was listed above. Loudly, too.
So, Trump isnât going to really help the so-called American Working Man?
Who even is that? Everybody American works, no matter who they are. But if you mean that youâre a white middle class American, then youâll get candy for a year and then be abused just like the rest of us. Youâre already losing your rights to free information and healthcare. So, you might as well join the fight with us.
Who is Richard B. Spencer?
Richard Bertrand Spencer (born May 11, 1978) is an American white nationalist, known for promoting white supremacist views. He is president of the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist think-tank, and Washington Summit Publishers, an independent publishing firm. Spencer has stated that he rejects the description of white supremacist, and describes himself as an identitarian. He advocates for a white homeland for a âdispossessed white raceâ and calls for âpeaceful ethnic cleansingâ to halt the âdeconstructionâ of European culture.
The Identitarian movement is a European political movement that started in France in 2002 and is basically all about destroying anybody who is a shade darker then milk. The Identitarian movement has a close linkage to members of the German New Right, aka Neo-Nazis.
So this guy is definitely a âNaziâ.
Was it ok to punch him?
Itâs never ok to punch someone who has not provoked you. HOWEVER, what Spencer is doing is saying: I want to hurt people. I want to hurt people a lot. Not today. But, tomorrow, maybe. His very existence and allegiance is a constant menace. Picture it this way, if you met a guy in the park and he said hi, I donât have a gun today, but I might tomorrow, and I might come back to shoot people, would you just ignore him? No. So in conclusion, march peacefully, but do punch Nazis.Â
This is the American scale.
I really want to point this out because itâs a legitimate thing that Trump is far more extreme right than you may think. It also explains why this is a thing that happened. See, compared to many other countries in the world, my own included, the American political spectrum is offset to the right.
So what OP said about there not being an extreme left is absolutely true, thereâs barely a left to begin with.
Sourcity-Sourcey-Source
Iâd like to point out that this is a recorded phenomenon in political science and not my own biased interpretation of your politics. Noam Chomskyâcognitive scientist, historian, social critic, and political activist among other things (this guy pops up in my university classes from time to time; the dudeâs part of the curriculum whether that says anything to you or not)âhas been pretty outspoken about this.
â⌠so what [Republicans have] done is mobilized sectors of the population that have always been there but have never really been politically mobilized, like Evangelical Christians, the nativists who are afraid that âtheyâ are taking our country away from us, white racists, ⌠gun-people who are so terrified that they have to carry their guns into church because maybe somebodyâll come after them.Â
You know, these sectors of the population are there, and thatâs now the base of the Republican party.â
So, this election night was a shocking, absolutely horrifying blow to my American friends. Even my friends here in Canada couldnât come to terms with it. I saw panic attacks, fears about even visiting American relatives in the States again, and even a depressive loss of faith in humanity. How could this be where the world is today?
Because, itâs this gradual shift to the right thatâs so insidious, that happened for a variety of complex reasons, Iâm sure, that can to some make it seem like the current Republican party is a reasonable center-right party, when in actuality they are legitimately far right. And as such, able to take advantage of these small groups on the outside that have desperately wanted a podium for a long time.
So, no, youâre not imagining it, America. This isnât normal. Punch some Nazis, if thatâs what it takes.
side note: This is what we call the Overton Window and that is a really good visual of it.
Itâs also important to point out that this isnât just the United States and it never really was. Even now, because of Brexit and Trumpâs election, the radical nationalist/fascist/racist/sexist/whatever end of the political spectrum is now being galvanized globally with the success and encouragement of this and aided by political echo-chambers in media, the internet, and small communities.
Nationalist movements are picking up again in France and Germany and even Canada now has at least three people running for the Conservative Party leadership on a Trump-like storm.
If they âdonât think people are really bi/ace,â or if they think they canât trust you because youâre bi/ace, you deserve better. Invalidating your identity or using your identity against you is not okay, and having a partner who does that might feel like it comes with the territory of being bi/ace, but I promise you it doesnât.
\( -__- )/ Â TRADD MOORE + MATT WILSON 2016 Â \( -__- )/
Hi! So I just watched "Kitten Time in Kitten Town," and I see there's a cat that bears resemblance to Viktor. The fluffy fur, one eye, and seeing that he looks rather big (but with only kittens to compare thats a bit of a stretch.) So who is this mystery cat?
Thatâs Luca.  That heâs a big, one-eyed fluff like Viktor is kind of just a weird coincidence.  When  I started work on Lackadaisy, he belonged to one of my neighbors and was still binocular.  They left him to his own devices outside most of the time, but heâs an unusually friendly cat and everyone in the neighborhood knew him because he was always porch-hopping for treats and pets.  In 2010, he went off-grid for a time and then reappeared in my backyard, caked in blood and suffering some pretty gruesome head trauma.  I opened my door to him and gaped as he stumbled inside, made his way to a toilet, climbed in and tried to drink the water with his dislocated jaw hanging uselessly.  He also had a swollen face-ful of infection, which told me heâd been walking around with his injuries for at least a couple of days, uncared for.  I rushed him to a vet who told me to euthanize him.  So I took him to a different vet.  They said, âokay - we can work with this.â  That became my go-to vet clinic from that point on, and Luca became my cat.  Several surgeries later, heâs got one functioning eye, a crooked jaw, a couple of teeth, a boxerâs nose, and an 8-cylinder purr.  Heâs also a total sweetheart (and a walking allergy attack for unfortunate visitors who immediately become the focus of his drooly lovey-dovings).Â
Anyway, along with all of 2016â˛s other shenanigans, it brought me a feral mom-cat and her six little imps. Solid black, all of them.  They were camping out under a (different) neighborâs porch.  I ended up hosting them because I had the humane trap and, well, no one else here was going to deal with it.  I had their mom spayed and released (I still feed her), but I couldnât find a single rescue, no-kill or foster group that had room or who would take on a litter of feral kittens in need of human socializing.  I was stuck in a position of having to either dump them at a high kill rate shelter (which I was just physically incapable of doing) or socialize them all myself and somehow find homes for them afterward. Â
Playing with six feral kittens and getting them to like you might sound like a giddily fun and easy thing to do butâŚit is not. Point of fact, it is hell.  They had already learned from their mother to perceive people as predators and, unless I was motionlessly holding out some tasty morsel at armâs length and making no eye-contact whatsoever - prostrate like a browbeaten acolyte with a meager offering of turkey - they would not let me anywhere near them. It was all hissinâ and poppinâ and hiding and literal scrambling up walls and curtains in panicked escape.  I made seemingly no progress with them for the better part of two weeks.  I had just recently lost Calvin, my work was suffering, I was getting no sleep, my house was a warzone strewn in cat litter shrapnel, I knew I was hopelessly in over my head, and I was feeling and functioning like the wreckage of a former human being.  Aaand Luca totally saved the day.I was keeping the kittens and my own cats separate for probably obvious reasons.  My cats wanted nothing to do with the interlopers anywayâŚexcept Luca, who kept insisting I allow him into the fray upstairs.  He was curious, and the kittens had been de-wormed, de-flead and SNAP tested, so I relented and let him up.  The kittens took to him instantaneously, all purrs, chirrs and rubs.  He, in turn, was wholly tolerant of them clamoring over him, chewing on him, and playing with his tail.  Most importantly, as long as he was with me, they were suddenly trusting me to interact with them.  His ambassadorship got me over an enormous hurdle in the socializing process, and happily, most of them have now been adopted out.  The remaining two are still his loyal fans.  So am I, really. Â

Holy. Shit.
Can we apply more Bobâs Burgers audio to real life.
Unless youâre Dan Aykroyd in Ghostbusters, chances are ghosts rank somewhere between clowns and the IRS on your sliding scale of preferred erotic eccentricities. Ghosts are all about creepiness and inherent dread â even if your imagination manages to conjure a sexy specter, the lizard part of your brain would keep expecting a jump-scare, or at least a loud piano note to signify penetration. But Rule 34 is alive and well, so hell, maybe screwing a ghost might tickle your fancy after all, you poltergeist-jerking malcontent.
Iâm kidding, of course. Even the sex toy industry would never stoop so low as to assume that you want to fuck a ghost.
Obviously, they assume you want to fuck half a ghost.

Like I hate that manic pixie dream girl is likeâŚ. It can be legit feminist critique on a good day but honestly itâs just ableist bs most of the time??
This is SO REAL like 90% of ~Feminist Media Analysis has this problem.
interesting only tenuously related bit of trivia- Zooey Deschanel has ADHD. I read that yesterday fact fans
I have been writing on how ableist feminist posts on MPDGs tend to be since at least April now. Especially when the entire criticism or joke is âthis person cannot function like a ânormalâ adult.â
Iâm happy to see other people are noticing this as well.Â
Getting girls into STEM and helping their homeland at the same time. Amazing. (x) | follow @the-future-now
I have seen a number of harry potter posts that go something like, âIf there was magic and wizards in (country) theyâd _____.â Usually there are also long discussions that go along with these about how each country deals with the statute of secrecy.
And all I can think is, Canada wouldnât even bother trying to enforce the statute of secrecy. Because what is the point? How would you even know if it was a magic thing or just a Canada thing?
Is that guy just taking a regular old moose through a drive thru to get coffee or is it animagus?
Was that prime minister crazy or did he actually talk to ghosts?
How do you steal 20 000 litres of maple syrup? Trucks or portkeys?
The minister of immigration formally gave Santa Claus citizenship and a passport.
House hippos.
All magic would do to Canada is make the internet about 90% more sure that Canada isnât a real place.
That would explain a few things.
...I accept this actually. Weâre not so much magical but incredibly unflappable.
@mortiferamorphasmus - This explains a lot about our comic! XD
Veterans Ask Native Elders For Forgiveness At Standing Rock.
I never thought I would see this day when a white man apologizes for the tyranny and oppression of Native American population. This is so powerful. This is the nation that I want - responsible, compassionate and that learns from its mistakes.
God bless them!
AmazingâŚ
Maui is not obese
Maui is a powerful demigod. Big and strong and⌠oh, you think he looks fat?
Thatâs probably because youâve been conditioned by the media to accept this
as what strong and fit looks like. Amiright?
Sadly⌠these guys are not all that strong. Yeah, they got muscles⌠but they arenât built in a useful way. They are built for looks and thatâs about it.
ThisâŚÂ
is a strong guy. Actually a competitor in the Strongman competition. But⌠his tummy sticks out and he doesnât look like a Dorito.Â
You know who else is strong?
These guysâŚ
And MauiâŚ
Look at those arms, omg. And that solid, sturdy torso. You can see a shadow where his meat covers his ribs, but he doesnât look like any slouch to me.
And this guyâŚ
Thatâs Dwayne Johnsonâs grandfather. When the Disney animators showed him their sketches of Maui, he pulled out a picture of his grandfather and showed it to them because he was amazed how similar they looked. This dude was also a pro wrestler.
Thereâs actually a great infographic about ab muscles and stuff over HERE. but this is the part i want to show you.
Now⌠look at Maui again.
That thickness donât move like fat. It doesnât jiggle and heâs able to flex it. Look at how it sits on his body. It doesnât sag⌠he doesnât have a gut. Thereâs even a slight V shape to his torso.
Itâs just big and not âdefinedâ.
And people arenât used to that.
(sorry, this isnât the most organized post⌠i kinda just let it all spill out)
#Love it!
One type of goalpost switch that I notice often when looking at kink discourse is this.
Anti-kink person: BDSM is a result of women being socially conditioned to be submissive. It is a consequence of misogyny and also reinforces it.
Pro-kink person: That narrative does not explain femdom, or non-straight BDSM. Modern BDSM even basically started among gay men and spread from there.
Anti-kink person: But people like that are rare, so itâs fine to erase them. Also, itâs still abusive and wrong.
First off, Iâm against the idea that people who donât fit the narrative should be swept under the rug for political reasons.
But also, even if femdom or non-straight BDSM were abusive and wrong, they still do effectively contradict the âBDSM is a result of misogynyâ claim. The counter-counter does not actually address that.
At this point, anti-kink people are also likely to pretend that sissification kink is basically the one type of submission that male subs engage in, which they claim means that male subs are still engaging in misogyny.
But even if that kink really was misogynistic, I donât think it should be treated as the âdefaultâ type of male submission. There are many possibilities there that they are ignoring to present only the one that they think works with their narrative.
