biggest life change is that I’ve decided to pursue my autism diagnosis

been scared and in denial for a looooonnnnggg time. mostly thanks to my parents.

i want to go into detail at some point and just dump it all out here

but the gist of it is that i have been autistic all along and IT! EXPLAINS! SO FUCKING MUCH!

reeling from relief, grief, anger, overwhelm in so many ways

so my FIL is really, truly, horribly bad at DIY but was a career handyman(?!)

he’s been doing horrible projects/“fixes” to this house for the past thirty years and things are starting to give up

our hallway toilet blew up on Thursday morning and flooded half the house. the fucking floors in this place aren’t sealed, which made everything extra absorbent

we scrambled to turn off the water and mop up everything and put a bunch of stuff outside and ran SO much laundry. i also bought a big ol’ dehumidifier and it’s been running in the back bedroom continuously and we’ve collected gallons of water from that thing

i didn’t know to call a flood remediation company until yesterday (didn’t know that was a thing) and luckily they gave us a good game plan to follow and will handle the insurance portion for us

they have to start demolition this week before mold sets in. we’re going to be living in an airbnb for a few weeks…i really, really hope they can find us one that can accommodate our cats :( i would hate to have to board them somewhere. they’d be so scared

If you’re an American federal employee and got an email saying “it’s ok to quit your job.” Do not, for the love of everything, quit your job. This is purely a scare tactic to get rid of as many people as possible without legal consequences.

Obviously, Trump has realized firing everyone in the government will be harder than he thought because of robust legal protections so he’s trying to scare or trick people into leaving instead because he knows they can block and slow his fascist agenda. Don’t let that happen. If you’re in the civil service, your country needs you; stay in your job and protect the constitution. And if you’re not in civil service, do what you can to support the civil service, including calling your representatives and asking them to protect civil servants.
