Gruvia: A bond stronger than family
When it comes to couples, I prefer chracters who develop. People who truly love, care, help, need and inspire each other.
Almost always, at some point, couples find the point where they connect and understand each other (The Unison Raid).
And there is a point when they are bond together even more strongly.
And this is what I’m going to talk about.
GrUvia in the Tartaros arc was just, BEAUTIFUL <3
.
.
Let’s begin with Juvia having a bad feeling about something.
Gray thinks that she is feeling down because they are up against strong enemies but she denies by saying it’s something else.
And so, Gray puts his hand on her embracing hands saying: “I’m here with you”
It’s like he knew she was worried about him.
.
.
Later, This bad feeling became stronger.
It became a sense of foreboding (She wonders if Gray is in trouble)
Juvia confirms it’s the same feeling from before she felt before they even got here (Speculation: Juvia sensed Gray being in trouble before he actually became in trouble. I know this could be too much. But it’s just a thought that crossed my mind).
.
.
If I remember correctly, the only time someone had such sense of foreboding is when Laxus heard Macarov when they were on Tenrou’s island. (Other similar feelings were showed like Erza hearing Jellal cheering her when he was in prison and she was in a fight)
It was both their (Macarov & Laxus’s) Family-Family and Fairy Tail Family bonds.
Yes, FT members consider all the other members their family. But it’s normal for some members to have a closer tie with each other than with the other members. Like Natsu’s team and Levy’s team.
Juvia and Gray already had a strong bond, but it’s now something much stronger. A Family-Family bond. No, A bond stronger than family. (the title :D)
.
.
After Juvia’s battle with Keyes and more importantly with herself, she defeats Keyes.
She wants to defeat him for multiple reasons:
-Because Silver (Gray’s father) asked her to (so he can be free and pass on)
-To allow Keyes NOT to make humans his puppets.
-For Gray’s interest.
Juvia was put in a difficult situation where defeating an enemy hurts Gray, and not defeating him hurts him even more.
At the end she did what Gray couldn’t do. Risking Gray hating her and it was all for Gray (Selflessness).
.
.
.
Now, there is something more that bonds and connects Gray and Juvia:
Silver (Gray’s father) and his will.
Silver entrusted his will to Gray (to avenge his family, which was already something Gray wants to do).
He passed his powers to Gray.
He passed his will of defeating E.N.D. to Gray (which he will using his the powers)
At the same time,
Juvia defeated Keyes as Silver asked her to,
And now carries Silver’s will of taking care of Gray.
In short, Gray and Silver have a bond of Inherited wills (from Silver).
After defeating Keyes, Juvia cries, falls, Lucy catches her and Juvia says that she wants to see Gray.
She wants to see because he is hurt. Because he needs her. Because she was asked to take care and look after Gray.
Juvia feels Guilt about what she did.
We all know that she is an honest person. So, she confesses what she did to Gray. As she cries, she says that she realizes she doesn’t have the right to love Gray anymore
Gray is a mess now. We say many emotions from him in a few panels and pages: Blank expression, shock, confusion, anger and sadness.
He cries in her chest thanking her and apologizing three times.
Putting his weight on her that he pulled her down to the ground.
Why did he thank her? Why did he apologize? What does all that mean?
He thanks her for doing what should have been done. What he couldn’t do.
He apologizes for burdening her with his burden. The burden he couldn’t carry alone (I think Gray putting his weight on Juvia and them pulled to the ground is a symbol for burden)
He opens himself like he never did before with anyone.
He allows her to love him!
This time, it was Gray who needed Juvia.
Sometime after that, we see Gray saying that he will take down E.N.D. and next to him is Juvia saying yes. All what happened didn’t break GrUvia. It didn’t distance them. Instead, it brought them closer (Thanks to Juvia’s love selflessness, Gray’s understanding and Silver’s will they both inherited)
And Juvia will be there to help them achieve what Gray wants. Achieve his father’s will. (Which -as I said before- is a bond they share).
If you read all the way to the E.N.D. 😂 of this article, I thank you. Make sure to follow the blog for more. Don’t forget to tell me your opinion 😂😉.
