You know this is one of - if not my primary - OTPs but ours haven't interacted in that way. *blows raspberry* okay, look, I may be biased but there's a lot of canonical reasons I see this ship as at least starting (though whether it lasts is another matter entirely, or in what form). From Tseng's realisation of his mentor's relationship with Reeve and actively being concerned over his well being when Cait Sith is attacked in Gongaga through to the fact that Reeve rescues Tseng at the Temple of the Ancients (and I think also has a part to play re: attack by the remnants). Not to mention whatever happens with Rufus, as Tseng is never far away there either. They have some similarities too, they both are men who give of themselves in service, though for different things. Just... :|

Would they…

Make the first move? Yes | No - depends entirely on the circumstance. He is technically Tseng's superior during Shinra times, but we figure the hierarchy doesn't mean much to Tseng past the Turks and Rufus. I don't see him as being that passive either, though he could easily make (anybody lol) Tseng so frustrated that he in fact makes the first move. I've played out both, and other alternatives.

Say “I love you” first? Yes | No - I think after some time, he would deliberately want to show open vulnerabilities to Tseng (for many reasons) so yes, he would verbalise

Cheat on them? Yes | No

Be the jealous type? Yes | No

Plan the dates? Yes | No - both. both is good.

Initiate the first kiss? Yes | No - see point 1

How likely they are to enter a relationship with them:

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 - hard to pitch as we’ve not interacted yet (I do still want to!) but I would definitely say it’s this high. There’s potential betwen them coming out the wazoo. He doesn’t let on about Rufus and the fact that it was Rufus’ own plans that led to the formation of Edge. They’ve potentially been working together way before DoC, poss back to late-stage BC times. It’s fascinating. It’s another dark-horse relationship for Reeve has that’s never explicitly explored in canon but is evidently there and meanigful and affects who he is / how he works (see Veld and I like to imagine Tseng too). Now, whether or not it would become a relationship-ship or not, is another matter entirely, but it’s got the makings of it for sure. /endramble

They’re too much control freaks for mess like that.
