I will walk onto the beach. I will be the sand holding me up. I will be the sunlight reflecting off of the water. I will be happy.

I walk onto the beach. I am the sand holding me up. I am the children running in the distance. I am the child inside of me. I am the hands pulling me into the water. I am the water splashing over me. I am the mouths laughing at me. I am the happiness inside of my heart.

I was walking on the beach. I was the sun as it set into the horizon. I was my friends walking next to me. I was a smile which rested on all of us.

I wait in line to talk to the genius

i see him, and i say

tell me something i don't know

then he replies

i've never learned a thing in my life

i ask him how

he explains

i was born with all of it

i wondered how that must feel,

and he looked at me and said that i could figure that out

in a different universe

and then i woke up

in a place where i got to learn something new every day

i turn on the metronome, trying to make a song for you. the beat ticks the same speed as your heartbeat and the beast inside me subsides. the illusion of you is enough of a song.

on the way back from the pretty field, thirty minutes away,

they plucked some flowers to put in our kitchen

tucked away in a vase

rotting behind radiant walls

i wondered, how long until the flowers became as plain and boring as they would find a leaf

just like i went to the pretty field which was thirty minutes away instead of the dull one which was five

it wasnt always lifeless,

now i've been there so many times that i could take a walk through with my eyes closed

and there's no use going with open eyes

soon, the novelty of pretty blue flowers will go away,

and we’ll be left with a vase full of a rotted plant

and the flowers will be like any other shade of blue

blending in with the leaves

on the way to the field.
