😢 ❤️ 👏🏽
I love how he let him cry, told him, “We cry as men” and didn’t hit him with the whole, “Big boys don’t cry” mess. That was lovely.
Phenomenal. Allowed him to emote, then worked with him to understand the what and the why.
This is amazing. He kneeled down to this level and guided him through his feelings. Where is this and what is the instructors name?
This very important
This is so vital 😩😩
Fun Fact: Wasp spray is much more effective than pepper spray or mace and the creep that you spray will literally have to go to the hospital, unlike pepper spray that wears off. It stings more and literally it’s much cheaper and more accessible. I have a can in my car and I’ve never had to use it (thank god) but it doesn’t expire, all you have to do is give it a shake like once in a while, unlike mace or pepper spray. A bunch of girls at my college have a can, and my campus police officer swears by it. Just putting that out there because hey, you never know. Stay safe y'all 🌸
where is the lie
I kind of wish disney’s ~weird period~ had lasted longer. Like all of a sudden we were getting these films like lilo & stitch and Atlantis and the emperor’s new groove and treasure planet and they were so fun and DIFFERENT. Just thinking about what the pitches for those movies had to have been like is so surreal?? A little blue criminal alien crash lands on a Hawaiian island and gets adopted by two sisters dealing with social services that teach him about the value of family. An Inca emperor gets turned into a llama and john goodman helps him get back to his palace and one of the bad guys talks to squirrels. Treasure island but in SPACE. Like, on the surface, the premise for these films seem so random but they all TOTALLY WORKED IN REALLY GREAT WAYS??? idk I just really miss that early 2000s spark of offbeat creativity in Disney’s timeline.
Okay but the history behind this is so interesting?
All these movies came from the Florida studio, which for a long time was a backup animation studio that did work the main Burbank studio didn’t have time for.
Then in 1996 Disney decided to focus all their energy on transitioning to 3D animation. They acquired Pixar and started working on A Bug’s Life.
They basically told the Florida studio (their only remaining full-time 2D animation studio) – “Eeeeeeh, do what you want.”
And the Florida studio, for the first time, got to produce feature films:
Mulan (1998)[27]
Tarzan (1999)[28]
John Henry (2000)[29]
The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)[30]
Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)[31]
Lilo & Stitch (2002)
Brother Bear (2003)
Then in 2004 Disney decided to stop producing 2-D feature films altogether. They closed down the Florida studio and laid off all the Florida Studio animators.
Many of whom then got hired by Dreamworks.
That. Explains. Everything.
And then DreamWorks killed *their* 2D film division (in Jeffrey Katzenberg’s words: “traditional animation is dead”), and focused exclusively on creating franchises, namely Shrek and Madagascar sequels, and most of the Disney animators ended up going *back* to Disney when John Lasseter took over the animation division in 2007, and Lasseter encouraged more 2D animation, and a general aura of “back to basics”, which lead to films like Bolt, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Winnie the Pooh, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana. Which would also explain the sudden resurgence in quality from Disney.

CHER IS 71?!
Accept the fact that you will grow apart from people you’ve had significant relationships with. Understand when someone no longer positively affects your life. Let them go. Don’t hinder your growth.
IF YOU NEED TO CALL 911 BUT ARE SCARED TO BECAUSE OF SOMEONE IN THE ROOM, dial and ask for a pepperoni pizza. They will ask if you know you’re calling 911. Say yes, and continue pretending you’re making an order. They’ll ask if there’s someone in the room.
You can ask how long it will take for the pizza to get to you, and they will tell you how far away a dispatcher is.

3,000 sexual assault survivors tell the GOP to stop enabling Donald Trump in full-page ad
A coalition of more than 3,000 sexual assault survivors wrote an open letter to the Republican party demanding them to withdraw support from Donald Trump in a full-page ad in the Washington Post. The ad was paid for by the UltraViolet Action, a national women’s advocacy group. Shaunna Thomas, the co-founder of UltraViolet Action, also released a haunting statement denouncing Trump.

“Are you really going to vote for Clinton just because she isn’t Trump?”
Yes? I would literally elect Chef Boyardee because he isn’t Trump.
Why you should Vote for Hillary if you are a Bernie supporter
College costs:
Bernie: Free. Hillary: Significantly cheaper than currently, free for those who need it. Trump: Defrauded poor and working class people for 10s of thousands of dollars of tuition.
Minimum wage:
Bernie: 15 Hillary: 12-15 Trump: Imported undocumented workers and underpaid them to work on his projects. Currently makes his clothing line in China for tiny wages.
Foreign wars: Bernie: Probably not. Hillary: As prudent. Trump: NUCLEAR FUCKING PROLIFERATION!!! NOW!!!
Immigration: Hillary and Bernie: Path to citizenship. Trump: THROW THEM OUT! BUILD A WALL!
Taxes: Bernie: Deep tax increases on the wealthy (and middle class). Hillary: Some tax increases on the wealthy. Trump: Cut’em. Cut’em all!
Racism: Bernie: Solving income inequality will solve racism. Hillary: we need a good plan to increase opportunities to minorities beyond solving income inequality. Trump: Yeah, dun care.
Sexism: Bernie: Solving income inequality will solve sexism. Hillary: Full support of all equal rights issues. Trump: Ladies, all your vag are belong to me (no fatties).
Gun control: Bernie: Mayyyyyybbbie, if you convince me hard enough. Hillary: Yep. Trump: Shoot’em if you gott’em.
Please do not listen to 25 years of GOP propaganda. Hillary has worked on progressive causes for 40 years. She was the 11th most liberal senator while in the Senate. Due to Republican hatred, she is the most investigated person in the country and nothing has ever come of it. She is not a criminal, she could not be a criminal, they would have found something they could have trumped up charges on in 25 years of endless, ongoing investigations. She’s been abused by the GOP and burned by the press over and over and is still pursuing her goal. She is smart and ambitious and experienced and tenacious and knowledgeable and practical and none of those are bad things for a President. Jill Stein may be a nice woman, but she has no governmental experience and practically no platform. Gary Johnson is a Republican who cares less about social issues. Hillary and Bernie have more politically in common than any other candidates. Please, if you care about the issues that Bernie cares about, think about voting Hillary.
I’m a Bernie supporter but its a cold day in hell I’ll let Trump win the presidency
reassuring to hear
“Jill Stein has practically no platform.” You see this kind of ignorance is why Barack Obama let you down so hard after 8 years.
College Costs: free and student debt abolished.
Foreign Wars: AHAHAHAHAHA no. Fuck, we’ll even cut the military budget in half to fund college costs. Oh, and rejoining the anti-missile treaty that we walked out on.
Minimum Wage: Why stop there? Why not minimum guaranteed income?
Taxes: Rich pay their fair share, tax cuts for working-class and middle-class families and use it to actually get to building infrastructure.
Racism: Official recognition of Black Lives Matter. End the racist War on Drugs.
Sexism: Officially end discrimination on gender.
Gun Control: Had to find this one separately, but FUCK YES.
More on the platform link above. When his own followers Felt The Bern, well, at least there’s an alternative.
Obama has accomplished a great deal of what he promised to do upon taking office, and he’s done it despite years of congressional sabotage, some of it arguably treasonous. We can expect conservatives to fight progressive reforms every single step of the way for the foreseeable future. A president isn’t a monarch that can do whatever they like, and therefore succeeds or fails entirely on their own merit, they have to continuously negotiate with congress and the senate and the other heads of states to get anything done at all.
This is why, even though Jill Stein has a platform I personally fucking love, she’s massively unqualified to be president and therefore unlikely to accomplish any of it. She has no political experience, no political connections. She has never held any office. She’s served on a couple activist and research boards, she’s started a couple nonprofits, and that’s awesome. But she’s never even been a governor. She’s never even been mayor.
Hillary Clinton is moderate, and that sucks, but she’s got some pretty socially progressive goals, and that’s cool, and she’s trended more progressive over time, which is great. She seems pretty serious about representative democracy. She’s also been the first female chair of a legal services corporation, first female parter of a law firm, first lady of arkansas, first lady of the united states, first female senator for new york, and 67th secretary of state. She knows how to do politics. She knows how to do politics while being a woman, often the first woman, and she’s done it all well enough to keep going.
I’d rather a president I agreed with on half the stuff, who got that half of the stuff done, than a president I agreed with on all the stuff, who got nothing done. There is no viable alternative to Hillary.
reblogging to support and reiterate what roach said: hillary clinton knows how to do the work. the president is not a figurehead or a dictator or a mere celebrity. they are a public servant with a very difficult and time-consuming job, and experience matters.
i rooted for bernie as hard as anyone, but hillary is not merely the lesser of two evils, she has the potential to be a really good thing for us. no president is ever able to enact their entire platform. hillary has a chance at enacting the most important parts of it. she knows how to build consensus and avoid being roadblocked.
don’t doubt that the republicans in congress are going to be digging in their heels as hard as they can. we need someone who is experienced, stubborn, confident, well-connected, and a little bit slytherin, or they’re going to deadlock our government for four years.
vote hillary. she will get shit done.
really bitter about how ‘not letting donald trump become president’ isn’t motivator enough. sorry. part of me is like ‘well, these are the end times.’ donald trump is (in addition to everything obviously disgusting and terrible about him) knee-deep in sexual assault accusations and a new lawsuit. there are two options for president. i want more than two parties and two options too. but the lesser of two evils (if that’s how’s you see it) is always less evil. pretending like a third option is viable and that throwing your progressive vote that way isn’t directly helping to elect donald trump is willfully ignoring reality. and it’s dangerous.
My school district refuses to remove confederate symbols from my high school campus
I am a student at Robert E. Lee high school in San Antonio, Texas. When you walk into Robert E. Lee high school, the first thing you will see is a giant statue of Robert E. Lee. Imagine being an African American student and having to walk into school every day looking at a man who fought for the enslavement of your ancestors. Robert E. Lee high school is the oldest school in the North East Independent School district. The school mascot is a “volunteer” appearing in a red and gray confederate army uniform and looking a lot like Robert himself. The school colors are red and gray which are the confederate colors. The pep squad is called the “confederettes”, The JV drill team is called the “dixie drillers” and the varsity dance team is called the “rebel rousers”. Progress this summer was made when two confederate emblems were removed from the campus. This summer, a peer of mine, Kayla Wilson, sought to get rid of all confederate symbols from my school and change the name. At first, the district wouldn’t even put the name change up for discussion. After a long battle of board meetings and a petition with over 11,000 people, the school board voted not to change anything about my school. “Dec 11, 2015 — On Monday night NEISD Board voted NOT to rename Robert E Lee H.S . Board Trustee Wheat pleaded with fellow Board members to give the students and faculty an opportunity to voice their opinion and grievances. He requested a committee made up of teachers, administrators, and community to do surveys, obtain facts, and submit alternate names. He stated"we have not done enough to make this decision". Board Trustee White gave his testimony, as a African American the name offended him, and “we should not have to constantly defend the name of our schools for someone who is so controversial”. White reiterated Robert E Lee was the general of the confederacy, and fought to continue slavery.
Superintendent Gottardy and Board Trustees Grona, Bresnahan, Hughey, and Perkins stated they had done enough research to make this decision and felt burdened to continue any additional effort. Board Trustee Perkins mocked Trustee Wheat attempt to add the voices of the students , teachers, and PTA. The board meeting ended with an item being place on the Agenda to look into all symbol, icons, and songs tied to the confederacy. This Agenda item will be reviewed in the spring. Please review the video below and review the response of the Board members. Unlike other communities like , Houston, Austin, Princeton, UT and even Robert E Lee’s Washington and Lee University recommended a discussion. San Antonio NEISD refused discussion. Board Trustees did not feel the voice of its students or faculty matter for this decision. Please email your Board Members why community matters. Why facts are important. Please tell them ALL are children voices’ matter.”
Robert E Lee was a confederate who fought for the enslavement of black people in the United States. He fought to maintain the continued subjugation of Blacks in America’s south. My school district perpetuates a racist culture by keeping racist symbols on my campus.
The dance team and cheerleader coach threatened to their students that if the name change was posted about on social media or talked about at school, girls would be kicked off the team immediately.
Faculty members were fired for talking about it on social media as well.
The petition didn’t make a difference. The school board meeting didn’t make a difference. Very few individuals in San Antonio, Texas want to change the school name to make African American students comfortable.
PLEASE MAKE THIS POST GO VIRAL SO WE CAN CHANGE THE NAME OF MY HIGH SCHOOL AND REMOVE ALL CONFEDERATE SYMBOLS!
FUCK I GO HERE I DIDNT EXPECT TO SEE THIS i go to a magnet school on the campus called the International School of the Americas which is kinda known for its student body bein pretty politically left. yknow that “lies my teacher told me” book? yeah basically thats my school
last year durring the time of the pettition and name change (fall 2015 maybe?) the district sent in monitors to observe the US history and english classes to make sure they were giving a “neutral, unbiased lesson” on the civil war. we were under some extra fire seeing as the junior class takes a trip to Alabama to learn about the civil rights movement. so like basically the district sent in people to make sure our teachers werent advocating against the schools confederate shit. they also were put under a watch on social media where they could not talk about the name change, even on their personal accounts. their lessons amd personal lives were censored and watched so NEISD wouldnt be caught im controversy
TLDR; our teachers were put under watch so they wouldnt remotely advocate for the changing of the school name or any of the confederate shit
we lost 2 teachers solely because of that.
and Lee isn’t a white school. the vast majority of the kids who go to Lee are latinx or black and its considered to a low income school.
so yeah. lots of kids are suffering from this. ISA was pressured to change their civil rights unit and teachers are expected to be completely unbiased on and off campus. the only people who DONT want a name change are the people who dont go here, and those of us who do go here will be reminded for the next 4 years of our lives.
Its really awful when one of the only people ur comfy with is gone out and theres literally no one else ur comfortable with callin up to hang out bc ur anxiety is so bad u can only calmly be around like 2-3 people on earth
And people are like oh I’ll hang out with you
like no do you not get it
I am only comfy with like 2 people
I appreciate it but no thats like super extra anxiety
is this agoraphobia
