hey got some important news. the affordable connectivity program that helps poor and disabled people afford internet is going to run out of funding by april 2024 if we can't convince congress to renew it
One of the programs set up to ensure affordable internet for all is set to run out by the middle of 2024.
i know emailing and calling politicians often seems like a waste of time, but this is gonna hurt alot of people (myself included) if this program is allowed to disappear. we really need to raise some awareness and get this program the funding that it needs. ACP is a game changer for literally millions of people. this is the only way many homes can even get internet, and in this day and age internet access is pretty much a necessity for almost everything. its gonna be a huge blow to have this vital program taken away from those who depend on it.

this website allows you to send a prewritten email to congress letting them know you want this program to continue. unfortunately its not anonymous and will require your name, address and email, but its an easy way to show your support for this program and bring it to the attention of your local representatives
btw if you are eligible for this program, a good way to help save it is to sign up for it! apparently only 40% of eligible households are actually enrolled in the program, if that percentage were larger it would be alot easier to secure funding for the program. alot of welfare programs rely on how much demand there is for the service, the more demand there is, the more funding there tends to be.
if you currently receive EBT, medicaid, and/or lifeline cell service, than you should qualify for ACP. you can choose between receiving a $30 discount on your home internet or a data plan for your mobile device. this program can also stack with your lifeline cell service.

THIS PROGRAM WILL END APRIL 30, 2024!! The FCC has moved to wind down the ACP. The last day to sign up for ACP is February 7.

ISPs are required to notify ACP customers 3 times that the program is ending. The first notice should have already gone out.
THERE ARE 5 DAYS LEFT TO APPLY FOR THE AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM. PLEASE SIGN UP AND/OR REACH OUT TO CONGRESS EVEN IF YOU DONT THINK YOU QUALIFY.
The qualifications to be accepted are much broader than you might think. The more people that are in the program, the more people that reach out to their representatives about this, the more likely congress will be to save it. Please help us keep ACP, 22 million people depend on it.
