To put it in Destiel terms, what if Sam was the older brother? What if Cas was the younger brother? What if Dean was a hunky Latino cop from a loving family?

Ok, ok, it’s not really a perfect Destiel AU (It isn’t actually intended to be a Destiel AU at all) but it does have all the family trauma, boys in love making a mess of things, and supernatural entities trying to use people as puppets that I love in Supernatural.

And I want more people to read it so I can look at more cool fan art about it!

Here’s my pitch for the next Supernatural multiverse show. Chuck said that Castiel was the only version of himself that rebelled after raising Dean from perdition. But what about a world where Dean never goes to hell?

The show takes place in a universe where Anna did not fall alone. She took Castiel, Balthazar, and Hannah with her. It follows the four teens as they meet up and realize something is different about them. They fight supernatural forces, try to solve the mystery of their origins, and eventually meet up with a pair of brothers whose father went on a hunting trip and didn’t come back.

We can take the things we loved about Winchesters—an inclusive cast where love is not a death sentence—and apply them to a Dean/Cas timeline. We’ll watch Cas and Dean fall in love in a world where they are actually able to express it. Some of the angels can be born into vessels of color. Hannah could be trans or non-binary. The original actors can pop in occasionally in time traveling episodes.

I just finished a Season 1 rewatch and it really bothered me how worked up John got about Meg killing his friends one by one. The idea that he would leave Sam and Dean to kill yellow eyes while he goes to try and stop her seems so at odds with his obsession. And then at 1 am this morning it hit me. Meg said she would kill everyone John loves and John realized it was only a matter of time before she got to Adam. Ugh! I feel so many things right now.

The problem with having read untold hours of Destiel fanfic is that now when I read any gay romance, I am constantly trying to figure out which guy is Cas and which guy is Dean.

The dearth of interactions between Ronan and Adam in the Greywarren makes me want to spit nails!

Route 666 is such a problematic episode and the Cassie/Dean story is so intense that it is easy to miss how completely unhinged Sam is in that episode. Come on Sam, stop teasing your brother about his crush and focus on the racist murder truck for a second! Oh and maybe don’t risk your brother’s life on a hunch for the lols! You totally could have had him go further than the 7/10s of a mile if you weren’t just trying to mess with him!

The real witchcraft of Supernatural is that they made a diehard fan of me by having a series finale so terrible and needlessly cruel that I looked to fixit fiction to heal from it and was hopelessly ensorceled by the fandom.

I know Jensen Ackles said that Dean would embrace Castiel and be all happy to see him when they reunite but I don’t buy it. I think Dean would be pissed that Castiel did not come and see him the second Jack pulled Castiel out of the Empty.

Dean was suffering, thinking his best friend, the love of his short brutal life, was rotting away in super hell and Castiel couldn’t drop a line saying “Actually, I’m all good, playing the Sims new heaven expansion pack with our kid”? He couldn’t pop down and say “Hello Dean” or pull a friend off a piece of rusty rebar?

I’m not blaming Cas—maybe Jack wouldn’t let him in an effort to be more hands off or maybe Cas was too afraid to see Dean again after the confession. I get it but Dean would not.

I think if Dean hugs Castiel when they reunite, it would be followed by a punch to Cas’s face.

Don’t get me wrong, I still expect them to make out like teenagers but not until Dean has done a full sulk and Castiel has gotten with the explaining.

I can’t decide if this is the best or creepiest decision I have ever made. After several years in the Supernatural fandom, I finally decided to throw caution—and lots and lots of money to the wind—and go to a convention, specifically #njcon, aka #hellercon2.0.

And the reason I decided to go is not because I want to meet Jensen Ackles or Misha Collins—in fact, I am pretty sure I actively do not want to do that. I am going because so many of my favorite fanfic, fan art, SPN tiktokers, tweeters, and podcasters have talked about going and I super want to me them.

So here’s my question. If I get merch from fan work creators and ask them to sign it at the convention, is that sweet or creepy? Somewhere in between? Both?

The Supernatural fandom has basically ruined me for all other fandoms. I just read the Simon Snow triology (partially because the book titles and cover images made it seem like barely veiled Destiel fanfic) and loved them.

Now, there is a good bit of Simon Snow fan art and fic available, but Supernatural has given me totally unrealistic expectations. Where are the Simon and Baz art books? Why aren’t there over 100,000 fanfics for me to choose from? When is the fan convention? Why aren’t there more podcasts than one human being can listen to?

There is a real possibility that I could at some point run out of Simon Snow fan content. Can you imagine?

Why are we not talking about The Cheapest Room in the House by biggaybenny more? And by more I mean constantly and at the expense of all our grown up responsibilities.

I just finished my second reread of it and I kind of want to just go back and start reading it again. The writing is exceptional. The summary makes it seem like it is going to be this silly little thing about Dean downloading Grindr for Cas and then it turns into this deep gut wrenching exploration of Dean’s internalized homophobia, repression, self-loathing, and the childhood trauma so much of it stems from. I want to give Dean, Cas, and biggaybenny a hug.

Tuesday night I stayed up too late reading because I was trying to finish a fic that I wasn’t that into. I was anxious to finish it so I could start something I would like more.

Wednesday night I stayed up too late rereading one of my absolute favorite fanfics. I know what happens but it is so good that I couldn’t put it down until my eyes were too tired to make sense of words.

Apparently, there is no situation in which me plus fanfic equals a reasonable bedtime.
