Excited to announce! The new record is called Hiker. it's about the animal nature of being a human, the existence of being a human in nature, the search for home. it's about traveling onward and self-sufficiency and love and family and fear and grit. Hiker will have the longest gestation period of any thing I've ever released - some of the songs are from 2013 - far before Driftless, even; working with Todd producing has been in the works since 2012; it will be over a year, maybe even 15 months from when we tracked it all the way to public consumption. it is hands down the longest I've ever let something percolate. I used to spend my babystting money immediately on starbucks mochas and as many CD singles as I could afford. waiting is a very hard process for me. it's worth it, though. maybe that's what comes with "becoming a grown up", knowing it's worth the wait. I know without a doubt that this is the best album I've ever made, and the one I've been working towards for the last 10 years. every mile, every song, every show led to here. it'll be worth it. I've been preparing the crowdfunding campaign that will be kicking off later this month so that it can be released to its full potential, with a community around it. this is a little sneak peek 😍 I sent out an email yesterday announcing the album title, and letting folks know that I'll be playing in Madison next weekend, talking more details about this little firecracker of a record, the crowdfunding campaign, and a very exciting Madison pop-up show at the end of October. shoot me a note if you'd like to be on the email list, and thank you for being with me on here.
