Ophelia, Act IV, Scene V (via sumiremiu)
There’s a brief moment when you first wake up where you have no memories, a blissful blank slate, a happy emptiness, but it doesn’t last long and you remember exactly where you are and what you are trying to forget.
Carrie Bradshaw, The Carrie Diaries (via hplyrikz)
andieforrester:
“Here,” Andie peeled off a puffy coat and tossed it to her. “We’ll share, it’s worth it, have you touched this snow yet? Clearly not, or you’d know it was so worth it. We can come back in and jump in the showers and make the water real hot and it’ll be fine.”
Anna holds the coat in her hands for a few moments, looking up at the girl reluctantly for a moment before she just shrugs and pulls the coat on, zipping it up as high as it goes before she kicks off her slippers and runs into the snow, a small shriek leaving her mouth. “I’ll hold you to those hot showers, it’s freaking freezing,” she shivers, a steady smile still on her face.
samalcott:
It was a tad peculiar to see someone being so eager to accept her offer, but she supposed the temperature was quite frigid enough to elicit that reaction. She was familiar with cold, unlike her sister who often had a love-hate going on with the season, and even found herself savoring it most of the time. “No problem.” With a nod, she let a pause linger for a second – a moment for her to inhale deeply and construct words in the back of her head without disintegrating. “I’m Sam, Samantha. Nice to meet you. Have they showed you around?”
Anna was a rather nice person, she liked to think. She tried not to be too overwhelming and never started a conversation on a bad note. Of course, sometimes these qualities were nipped in the butt by the occasional wave of crippling depression. That being said, she’s only spoken to a handful of people since she’s arrived, and she’s noticed a pattern upon speaking to them: they’re all shocked that she’s nice to them. This girl seems to be no different, so far. “Nice to meet you,” Anna reciprocates with a gently grin on her face. “Yeah. I mean, from their perspective. Bed, den, kitchen, all that good stuff.”
josieakridge:
Josie looked up and around the room, spotting the girl the voice had came from. “Pretty much, I tend to always have a blanket with me.” She responds, hands moving to gesture to the blanket she had wrapped around her frame.
Anna considered the idea, thinking back to her warm bed that she wished she was curled up in right now. If she hadn’t just indulged in a conversation with this nice stranger, she’d probably be rushing back to do just that right now. “That’s probably a good idea. I can’t imagine any other way to get warm around here.”
cameronmalkin:
Cameron smirked, putting his book down on his lap. “You would think.” He looked around at the radiators in the room. “I don’t think they ever get turned on.” He pointed to the metal heater attached to the wall. “Sorry to disappoint, you may need to begin hoarding blankets.” He jokingly advised.
“Great idea. I’ll just go around stealing everyone’s blankets and sweaters. Phenomenal. Definitely doable.” She nods, shrugging and pulling a face as if she’s actually considering it. “I might just have to be one of those depressing people who walk around casually with a blanket around their shoulders. Wouldn’t be that unfitting.”
finneganmartin:
The girl’s fake frown made Finn laugh. “Everyone is a kid to me,” He joked, hoping he hadn’t actually offended her. “I’m twenty-seven, so I’m practically over the hill. Retirement is just around the corner.”
Anna laughed gently, shaking her head. “Twenty seven? Geez, grandpa, you shouldn’t be in an asylum, you should be in a nursing home. Appalling. I don’t even want to be around such an archaic person. Unbelievable.” She prides herself in how dramatic she can be, honestly, it’s one of her only redeeming qualities. “I’m twenty. And I have the soul of an old hippy woman. So I should be calling you ‘kid’.”
Dear me, silence is not a song you should know all the words to.
