Annette knew a lot about a lot of things. Annette knew where silverware went on a table (fork on top of napkin on the left side of the plate, knife to the right, followed by the spoon to the right of the knife, or horizontally above the plate), how long it took to get to the Charlotte Inn from home (approximately 24 minutes if she walked, which she always did, as cars are terrifying things), how to properly fold a quilt and coverlet (tucking the sheets in tightly was her not-so-secret secret), she could recite the entire history of the Ptolemy dynasty (werenât those giants pyramids just so fascinating?), and most of all, Annette knew a lot about loss. It wasnât that she touted her pain above others; she knew loss was not a unique thing. It lived in every heart, every soul, every set of bones that consciously wandered in the realm of their choosing. But she was exceptionally versed in the subject, as are all of her people.
As such a young creature - by Fae standards - the majority of Annetteâs life was filled with creeping darkness and the looming possibility of warfare. Annette was once known as Phyrra, notably the daughter to one of the chief Elderâs of the realm. As a result, she grew up observing and practicing the rules that the Fae put forth without question, assured by her father that all would be well if they simply followed the directions the Council put forth. She fell into his line of thinking that fighting the Imps would be disastrous, and that another, more peaceful solution would be found. It was only a matter of time before salvation came, before the prophesied King arose and save them all â
Following the rules got Phyrra no where. Following the rules got her father, mother, six siblings and countless friends slain. Even now, stranded in the human world, she has not given up her clutch on her pedantic ideals and regulations, believing that they might yet keep her safe. Since her worldâs destruction, sheâs become even more introverted and panicked, often left aghast at many of lifeâs small, unforeseen events. Annette prefers to spend her time indoors, with animals, as there are few people who she opens herself up to, and few outside events she deems safe. Another cause of her anxiety is the enormous power she was born with; from birth, she was noted as âspecial,â not only for her influential family, but her uncommonly rare affliction. But Annette canât bring herself to practice it, let alone use it against the dark forces in Bindlebrimâs soul battle. She is perfectly content to blend into the crowd and never touch magic again - special means powerful, powerful means sought after, and sought after means dangerous. Yet somewhere in the depths of her convoluted soul, Annette longs for justice and peace. She simply doesnât know how to go about attaining it.
Even in their own realm, her father had warned her about Florence. She was a delinquent, one who couldnât control her powers and deliberately disobeyed the rules they had set out. Regardless, and despite her normal hesitance, the adventurous fairy has always managed to pull Annette into her schemes. Although the age difference between them is not great under faerie standards, Annette is often left trying to mother Florence or deter her off some of her more thickheaded plans.Â
Once a close friend, Annette is concerned for Clementine, who has been acting odd and distant since their arrival in Bindlebrim. She often tries to include Clementine in her and Florenceâs plans, as the trio used to, but itâs proving more difficult than Annette expected.Â
Her face claim is Jessica Stroup and she is currently played by Nina.
