“We should. But I don’t know if we can,” Gabriel admitted, eyebrows raised. If it wasn’t such a needless act of violence, he’d probably be impressed by the small brunette’s strength. “I don’t really feel like getting my ass kicked. Aren’t there any guards on duty?”
Annie immediately frowned at the response, all of her morals telling her otherwise. “Of course we can,” she replied, only glancing the stranger’s way before returning to watch the fight. “We can always do something.” He did have a point about ass-kicking though. She wouldn’t want to hurt anyone herself, and there was quite a crowd gathering. An actual guard would be far more appropriate. “Oh, yeah. There should be.” She peered back toward the walls in thought. Annie herself had worked a shift that morning processing new citizens, but she had no idea who was on security rotation tonight. Clearly, they weren’t looking at any comm device.
There was a loud crash as the tall man fell back into a bench, Annie wincing at the collision. They had to be stopped. She turned toward her neighbour. “Hey, if you don’t want to get involved here, then can you go and find a guard? If they’re not on the walls, then they might be in the office. That’s where we have our breaks.” She’d go herself, but she was in a much better position to intervene than most — if it came to that.

Wanda had been reading on the sofa when the door knocked, and she was slow to stand, already predicting that Pietro would ensure he made it there first. They'd both been overprotective as of late, but his speed gave him the advantage in this instance. Luckily she wasn't far behind, so by the time Annie had finished asking for her, Wanda already had a hand on Pietro's back, ushering him away. "Pietro, it's fine. Z'his is my new friend, Annie. I told you about her, remember?" Wanda had conveniently left out the part regarding Annie's own abilities, knowing it'd only further Pietro's unrest. Redirecting her attention once her brother had sped back the other side of the living room, Wanda opened the door further with a smile, gesturing for Annie to come inside. "You came to see me? Is z'here something I can do for you?"
The man before her made no effort to hide his suspicion, eyes narrowing in obvious distrust. Thrown by the reception, Annie was unsure how else she could explain herself, but thankfully, she didn't have to, Wanda coming to her aid. Another blink of her eye and the man was gone, Annie only realising he was still in the room once she'd stepped inside. Still reasonably stunned, she gave the brother an awkward wave in greeting. "Hi, Pietro." She received a terse nod in response, which felt like progress, and allowed her to feel comfortable enough to sit on their couch.
"Yeah," she smiled, folding her hands on her lap. "Yeah, I did. I'm not - here for anything in particular. More a catch up, really. I guess I just wanted to see how you were going? That fight a few weeks back, it got really out of hand. I'm sure you saw." She chewed her lip, uncomfortable. Annie had no regrets about intervening like she had, but it had still caused a mess, something this woman could apparently relate to. The blonde hadn't forgotten their conversation, despite the chaos. "We haven't really had time to talk. How have you been?"
