Amy is an Otenba(お転婆 from the Dutch Otembaar) which means untamable boisterous energetic girl. It's commonly translated as tomboy but this is inaccurate as otenbas don't necessarily have masculine interests. It is more accurately translated as untamable.

This is why Amy has always been a passionate and energetic character that can be overwhelming at times.

WIP Preview for a sonamy comic I’m working on!

I think Amy humanizes Sonic the most out of everyone in the cast

With just her presence it throws him completely off his game and he’s stuttering and frantic and it’s like he forgets he’s capable of destroying Gods

Often I see Sonic as Freedom with the power to back it up and Amy as Freedom without the power to fully express/ achieve her goals. But in the context of Love, Amy has more ‘Freedom’ which is why she’s able to overwhelm Sonic consistently and it’s why she’s able to wear it all on her sleeve when he doesn’t.

I also think they do this weird thing where they correctly equalize each other while still underplaying their own role in the other’s life.

I think a lot of this stuff is below the surface (especially for Sonic), Sonic and Amy aren’t super deep thinkers, they’re naturally aware of things and are both strong willed self motivated people.

I don’t think they’re fully aware of the hows and the whys and the greater realistic implications of their lives intertwining nor are they particularly interested in that stuff.

I think this stage of their relationship annoys/ frustrates some fans but I really love this era of unspoken understanding and loud uncertainty cut with rare scenes that perfectly encapsulates what their relationship really is.

This comic I’m working on kinda tries to bring some of these uncertain unspoken feelings into the light without putting too many words in these character’s mouths.

It’s what I’ll be focusing on until it’s done so please look forward to it! :D

Just One Glance

Synopsis: Set a few months after the events of the Secrets of the Scroll, and years before the events of the first Kung Fu Panda film, The Furious Five make their official debut as the new protectors of the Valley of Peace. Po, not really knowing who they are but remembers seeing them when they fought Boar together, and having enough memory to carve their action figures out of wood, sees them presented to society for the first time as masters. He is in awe of their skills and awesomeness, but one young Tigress catches his eye. 

If the events of Secrets of the Scroll was about the day Po fell in love with Kung Fu, then this is about the day he started crushing on Tigress.

Based on a short script I wrote a couple years ago (or longer, I can’t remember.) You can feel free to read the script here on FF.net.

I have been wanting to create a comic or animatic for this for a long time to get it out of my head, and I finally had some time to work on it over a weekend (emphasis on 'some'), so it’s not perfect, but enough to get the idea across lol. I can’t do voices, so had to add subtitles, but if anyone is interested in adding a voice over for these characters, let me know lol. 😂 Took some liberties, too, but I hope you KFP/TiPo fans enjoy nonetheless! 🐼 🐯 🍜

MOVIE SONMAY BULLSHIT RAMBLES

So imagine this. Amy Rose, since she was young, had a reading she was gonna find her Prince Charming. She is excited & wants to meet him. She waited & waited & waited. Now she's older went through a lot of shit & has been her own for the longest time. Here comes a boy who's a lot like her & she's excited to meet another of her kind. Too excited. They're a lot alike but also so different. And Amy wants to make sure she doesn't drive away what she considers her first friend. She confides to him how she's never had a moment in her life that she wasn't running for all her life (if she was also like Sonic getting hunted down) & she's never gotten the chance to enjoy life until Sonic showed her the wonders of his world. Sonic swears that she can rely on him. If she calls his name, he'll come running for her. She believes him. And they bond emotionally, YAY! Then, she gets kidnapped. And it's the final showdown in Sonic CD, the infamous race. Amy's waiting in the end & someone was able to pass through the gates. She's scared. All she sees is a silhouette. She is reminded of Sonic's promise, but her fears plague her. She takes the courage to call out his name. And she's free from her restraints & sees Sonic himself. She's flashbacking to that moment when she was just a child where her cards told her she would one day finds her Prince Charming. Oh shit, I think she's in love. LOL. END.
