At least once a month or so, Ann and Louis would meet to catch up on what they were doing with projects and the like. It was difficult to find a time that worked for both of them, especially considering that he wasn’t really a morning person and that was when Ann actually had a good chunk of time to be able to go out.

So she opted instead to wait for a day off and invite him out for lunch at the diner. Sure, she could go anywhere else, but the food there was decent as well as cheap. So, why not?

She found Louis seated at a booth once she finally arrived to her destination and she was surprised. “Well, you’re early for once. Is that a sign of the end times?” Ann asked.

After staring outside for a few more silent minutes, Luke shrugged his shoulders and chuckled. “Guess so! At least we’ve got the furnace, though. Could always be worse, is what my old man always told me. We could be stuck outside.” He grabbed a clipboard off the wall and a pen from the counter, then gestured for Ann to come to him.

“Since we’re here, let’s actually do some work! We’ve got inventory to take anyways.” He showed her the clipboard, a form clipped to it. “This has all the crap we keep in the store in a list. We just gotta write down the numbers so we can send it to the suppliers, and so we know when we gotta make or order more stuff. Easy, right?”

Yeah, the furnace was a good source of heat, but at the same time, the heat didn’t really make it all the way to the back room, where Luke was suggesting they head to to get some work done.

“I guess so,” Ann said in reply to the ‘being stuck outside’ comment, she then turned her attention to the clipboard Luke held as she walked over to him. “Yeah, seems simple enough.”

Treat Yo Self || Presents!

The worst part about running multiple businesses was that Evelyn barely had time to get presents for her friends and family. She was busy. She barely had time to go shopping, and she was busy running orders for the tailor shop that she couldn’t do anything personal with her sewing supplies. 

So, Evelyn had a better idea. Why not just give them money so that they could just get what they wanted?

She gathered a whole bunch of letters and stuck a note along with a select amount of cash inside. Inside, the note read:

Thank you for being a part of my life, no matter how big or small of a role you’ve played. I truly thank each and every one of you for spending time with me. I wouldn’t be able to live on these islands without everyone supporting me. Please spend this money on something you’ve been wanting or a new experience. Just don’t spend it on bills. If I find out you’ve spent this money on bills, I will personally come to your home and smack you, so don’t even think about it ;)

When she saw the letter in the mail, she was certainly very--surprised, by who the sender was. Sure, Evelyn was one of her superiors at the guild, but she wasn’t expecting to get any sort of Christmas bonus or anything.

And aside from work, she never really talked to the woman. So all in all, the situation was quite... odd.

Ann shrugged it off quickly. Free money was free money.

Ducking her head–trying to hide behind her hair, though she had cut it short years prior–she  lowered her hands, instead awkwardly rubbing her forearm and peeking up at Ann through her bangs. This was awful. Ann let her live with her and she can’t even surprise her right! Instead of a thank you, she got a horrid mess and a failure for a housemate.

“I-I was… uh, trying to surprise you?” A long pause, then Lumina hurridly shook her head “Not like th-this, obviously!” Sighing, she wrapped her other arm around herself in a sort of hug, casting her eyes back to the ground and awkwardly shuffling her foot.

“I thought it’d be nice to come home t-to… fresh cookies… and maybe some hot coco? O-or coffee? It doesn’t even matter now, I couldn’t even…” As if suddenly realizing she was voicing the harsh thoughts bouncing around, she jumped again, forcing a smile

“I’ll clean it up, though! I’m sorry, Annie”

Ann sees Lumina starting to look really down because of her mishap in the kitchen and picking up on this, Ann immediately changes her tune to be less irritable--sure, she wasn’t happy about the mess but she didn’t want to make the girl cry.

“Lum, it’s fine--it’s fine. It’s your kitchen, too--” Ann said, then chuckling in spite of herself. “And at least now it’s getting some use aside from the microwave.”

“Do you want me to help out, or do you know where everything goes?” Ann asked. In truth, she just wanted to go take her nice long shower, but she could postpone it just a little while.

Ann was at a loss of what to wear to the date auction. She wanted to look her best, but dear gods, was it cold outside. Because of that fact, her hands were a little bit tied... most of her nice clothes were summer dresses.

She dug through her closet a little further to find one of her blazers--and boom, winter outfit.

Now to just wait for the auction and drink herself into a stupor when she inevitably didn’t get a bid. Yeah, good plan.

◤ Yeah, duh, of course– couples sit at tables to advertise their couple-ness. A booth would keep them away from the prying eyes of the public so rumors wouldn’t spread and he wouldn’t have to worry about harming the poor girl’s reputation. ◢

◤ “Booth it is. Oh, and uh, pleasure to meet you, Ann.” Oh shit, and because he’s a gentleman (and the first one going in) he has to do the talking. Which is a fiasco but he manages to do it without being all too… Sebastian-y. ◢

◤ And they’re sat, they order, and wow things aren’t shit yet! Until the silence sets in. “That shiny rock– You gonna use it for something or just have it sit and look pretty?” ◢

“Pleasure to meet you too, Sebastian,” Ann said with a grin, following him in.

When the pair sat down and ordered. an awkward silence (or at least, it felt awkward to her) fell over them for a good amount of time, since she... kinda forget any sort of conversation that was supposed to happen between people on a date.

The only people she really talked to was either her roommate, her coworkers and her cousins. And she certainly didn’t feel comfortable with using the same amount of vitriol she had with Jake, especially considering he didn’t do anything.

And then he finally asked something, and she heaved an internal sigh of relief. “Oh--yeah, I think I might actually use it to make a ring of some sort.“

Ann didn’t realize until late after that call with Sebastian that his mother would probably be hoping that his girlfriend wasn’t like… kind of a fucking bunice m, which would mean she like… had to dress nice, probably present herself a little less like like the ‘tomboy’ she supposedly was.

She just didn’t see the point in dressing up if all she was going to do all day was work over a hot forge. But she supposed now she had an excuse to do so, even if it was just a fake date.

the least she could do was be presentable. Or at least–as presentable as she could be after immediately coming back from a day at the blacksmith’s.

So right when she got out of work, she dashed so she could meet up with Sebastian, thanking the Goddess that wool tights were invented–because man, was it fucking cold. She stilled looked cute, though.

“You, you Sebastian?” Ann asked.

◤ His heart’s about to beat out of his chest and his hands are freezing– he’s honestly about to give up and walk home despite it not even being the right time because, really, who would do this? And for him? ◢

◤ But– oh, shit, she actually showed up. ◢

◤ “Uh– yeah, yeah, that’s me. And you’re Ann.” He has to wipe the dumbfounded look off his face with a minute shake of his head, the waiting anxiety melting away. Now he just has to deal with the rest of it. “I– you want a table or a booth?” Ugh, he sounds like an idiot– good thing it’s fake. At least he remembers to hold the door open for her. ◢

“Yep yep, I’m Ann,” Ann said with a grin. Boy, oh boy, had it been forever since she was on a date, fake or not. She kinda forgot how to act in the first place. She softened the grin a little.

“Ahh, I dunno. A booth’s more private, I guess?”

Christmas Preparations! (12/23/16)

Since Ann had her Forging station set up, she had yet to use it - and she decided that using it to make Christmas gifts was a good idea.

She attempted to make a Bronze Bracelet and a pair of Bear Claws. She burned the Bronze Bracelet, but the Bear Claws came out perfect, and she earned 50 EXP for it!

She then went out and bought a few things:

◤ To admit, he’s actually not looking too much like a hobo. Though, he has no idea where he even got this purple button-up. The pants were easy; he has to dress nice for work. But the dress shirt? That was pure luck, he’s sure of it. ◢

Now that he’s here, he realizes he might not even be able to identify her. Plenty of people have bright red hair. But nooo, he had to say thanks and hang up. Honestly, he had ended the call so quickly to make sure his saving grace didn’t cancel on him. ◢

◤ But now he’s worried he’s being stood up. He glances at his watch– no, it’s not too late, it’s just a little bit early, actually, but he’s so damn nervous… ◢
