N’GÅA
I always have had a vivid imagination. I feel like when it comes to me expressing how I feel, I resort to consuming multiple medias (tv, movies, shows, ect…) or just write it out, plain and simple. I would feel like shit growing up because I couldn’t properly communicate in English and French and it would annoy the actual fuck out of me. I would bang out a smooth 12 chapters of a script for an imagined show or book that I would publish later in my life. I had goals and aspirations when I was young. Living in Italy after being a successful tattoo artist around the world with my Italian husband and small bakery. Now being a young woman, it just all seems far fetched. The world makes you doubt how you live and if the career or life you want to live is too far fetched for you. It kills dreams, passions and happiness in what you do in order to put you in a box and put a number of your head to fit into their agenda of making a functioning machine.
What if you could make you dreams a reality? You would take that risk to see it through, right? What if that tv show that I created when I was younger actually happens. What if you didn’t get discouraged ? What if it all works out? I always want to keep faith that God has something great in store for me but this mortal world that can sometimes fill my heart with dispare can get to me at times. I think about the trials and tribulations I’ve seen my family go through to achieve their dreams. I see some living the lives they want to live and some broken, stuck in a cycle because they were told their dreams weren’t worth the effort. I feel like everyone would be satisfied with what they do.
My other idea was to play off of my other idea from last week and to attempt to make terracotta pots that have faces of people to represent a dream, movement, or time (era) that represents the idea, dream, or era flourishing. If I did that it would be like 1 or 2 pots because of time constraints but I feel like it would be tuff asf to do that because it can represent that your goal or dream can be achieved. My world can transcend from its world to our reality with the power of belief.
I was inspired by the imagination of my nephews and their dreams and aspirations and what their journeys would differ from each other. When a dream is as innocent as a child’s it is very hard for someone to not not conform to familiar pressures. Their doubts in my world act as evil entities (Báaki), some harder and stronger than others (family, parents, mentors). Like avatar the last Airbender these dreams would be categorized by Reaslistic, fantasy, immediate and longterm. People who are placed in this quadrants would be able to band together and fight for their same goals but when they wake up, they don't remember the person/ people they meet until they meet them in real life. It would give them a sense of deja vu.
With the Báaki, they have a ability to get out of N’Gåa if the state of the world is really negative. There are bases spread out the earth that guard the portals in everyday places (schools, coorprate offices, landfills, historical buildings act...)
To get to this world, you need some sort of colatteral like a key, watch or any personal belonging. After you give that one thing away, you randomly get a lot with your face on it with some seeds. This acts like you growth bar for when you actively make progress to your dream or goal. The bigger the dream, the bigger the pot (up to 3 feet). Once you’ve reached your goal, your port will be florishing with the fruit or flower of your hard work. You can always opt out but if you do, you lose all recollection of the other world all together until you start a new goal or dream. I haven’t fully fleshed out the idea since I was busy but her it is so far. This world works as a mirror dimension in Dr. Strange but to get to it is more like Narnia in the sense that you have to enter N’Gåa through their collateral or pot by touch or entrance ( like the wardrobe from Narnia)
I was thinking about the name of the world would be N’Gāa to represent the duality of the world.
some ideas I've been bouncing around through out the week plus my notes for afam lol
