The 20th of August is celebrated as a public holiday in Hungary commemorating the foundation of the state. Throughout the country there are many activities the Hungarians can enjoy, but Debrecen probably has the most famous of the celebrations. In Debrecen they have a Flower Carnival. In the morning the people can enjoy floats which are designed with flowers. In the afternoon there are concerts and dances performed. You can buy fresh cooked Debreceni sausage and other delicious Hungarian cuisine from vendors. The traditional Hungarians dances are probably the best part of the whole day.
Unfortunately, i do not have photos of the carnival from this past year, because we went to the lake, but i did go out in the evening to see the dances.

20th of August The 20th of August is celebrated as a public holiday in Hungary commemorating the foundation of the state.
If you ever find yourself in Hungary and want to get out of the filth of Budapest for a couple of days, then i would recommend Aggteleki Nemzeti Park. It was founded in 1985.
It contains 198.92 km² (of which 39.22 km² are under increased protection). It has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1995. The largest stalactite cave of Europe is situated in this area: the Baradla Cave (26 km long, of which 8 km is in Slovakia, which was also part of Hungary before Trianon.
Trianon was a peace treaty signed in 1920 after WWI, but unfortunately there has not been peace in the hearts of the Hungarians since that time, especially for those left outside of their country. Perhaps one day.
Sorry, but sometimes the history lesson is necessary to understand a people and their culture.
If you do make your way to Hungary and decide to go there from Budapest, then i suggest you make it an overnight trip. If is impossible to get there and back to Budapest in one day, unless you drive there. There is a village with great food just outside of the caves. i will post pictures of it tomorrow.

Aggteleki Nemzeti Park If you ever find yourself in Hungary and want to get out of the filth of Budapest for a couple of days, then i would recommend Aggteleki Nemzeti Park.
My friend Tamás took me to visit this site in my last week in Hungary. It is in the middle of nowhere and on the way back from somewhere.
It is in memory of those lost in the battle between the Mongol Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary during 1241.
It seems like it could be much more than it is, perhaps a little park with benches to have a picnic or not. It was quiet, so i liked it.

Thumb Sucking Dream
Last night i had the strangest dream or dreams. In one of my dreams i dreamt that thumb sucking is bad for your children. It went something like this:
