Blood. Cora. (Specifically, mafia au, if you can please 🥺)
-anocobsession
[ BLOOD ]: sender walks into receiver's room covered in blood.
Gonna make the starter a bit on the vague side and see where we take it from there.
"Eva-??"
Cora is immediately concerned- though not surprised at seeing her beloved doused in crimson.
"What was it this time?"
She mutters as she stands, already starting to get materials to clean her up.
"-and how much of this is yours?"
@anocobssesion
"Hello, my love"
Eva smiles broadly, as she always does when seeing Cora, and wipes a trickle of sweat away from her forehead with her wrist, entirely unbothered by the scarlet covering her.
"Interview got outta hand. Call it a difference of opinion. But we have the information we need now."
Eva tugs at her shirt as she inspects herself. She didn't mind getting messy. That was part of the fun, but the feeling of fabric clinging to her skin made her uncomfortable.
"If I had to put a percentage on it, maybe 10%, maybe less? Probably less?"
Eva shrugs as she moves closer.
"You know I'm bad at math. They did manage to get a few nicks in, but they missed everything important."
"Ah, well that's the important part."
Cora seems frustrated, but she's clearly biting her tongue. Her beloved coming home in this condition or worse is.. an unfortunate normal.
"Is there any follow up that needs to be done?"
As she speaks, Cora guides Eva toward the bathroom, wanting to clean her up as soon as possible.
Eva wants to stop and kiss Cora until she feels the tension melt away. She doesn't like worrying her. Eva knows, however, that this course of action doesn't always work as well as she would like it to, so she follows obediently.
"We have names and a schedule to give to our more enhanced friends to handle those out of our reach, while our people can handle those closer to home, if that is what you want to do"
"With a situation like this, sweetness, yes. I do want to pass it along."
As is the usual routine in situations like these, she sits Evalyn down on the edge of the tub and starts to tidy her up with a sponge first. No use in staining the entire bathroom after all.
"You know the project I was working on for that particular client of mine? It went through."
"I thought as much. I'll be sure to pass those along as soon as we're done here."
Eva sits as still as she can, allowing the clean-up to start peacefully. She smiles brightly at the news.
"The greek one? Good! You worked hard on that."
She leans forward and kisses Cora on the nose.
"Now, how about you stop deflecting and tell me what is really going on in that brilliant mind of yours, hm?"
"Deflecting?"
She laughs softly at being kissed on the nose. One of the things she loves about Eva is that while she's not cuddly or soft with pretty much anyone, she is always looking to show her in particular affection.. and usually receive some in return.
"I don't know what you mean, love."
Cora mumbles with a shrug, having wiped up as much of the mess as she can with the sponge, and setting it aside in the sink.
"Yes, the Greek one. Fascinating how far word of my services has traveled, mm?"
Several small cuts are now clearer on Evas forearms.
It takes all of Eva's self-control to not smother Cora in affection. Gods above, she wants nothing more. But that can come later. She needs to use her words first.
"As always, mia amata, I am proud of you and your work." She takes Cora's hand in both her own and presses a kiss to the top of it.
"And you do know what I mean. Tell me what's bothering you, mia regina, so I may ease your mind. " Another soft kiss to the inside of Cora's wrist.
"Please"

Caught. James Hook.

[ CAUGHT ]: sender finds receiver somewhere they aren't supposed to be.
James jumps, startled by the approach of footsteps. He quickly stands up straight, pretending he was just.. wandering and didn't intentionally step into the room he was in. Him? Snooping? Noooo, never! That would hardly be good form.
@anocobssesion
Guinevere smirks, leaning against the doorframe with a raised eyebrow.
"And just what are you hoping to find in here?"
James clears his throat, shrugging his shoulders casually.
"Hoping to find? I'm not hoping to find anything, Queenie."
Guin shakes her head in amusement, disbelief in her tone.
"Really? I suppose you just took a wrong turn? on your own ship?"
"Don't be silly, I'm not lost on my own ship."
The pirate Captain scoffs, but then sighs.
"My feet just.. carried me farther than I meant to walk."
Guin laughs lightly.
"Come now, James, do you really expect me to believe that?"
She steps into the room and takes James lightly by the elbow.
"Amethyst is far too clever to keep your birthday present in her room on your ship, so there is little point in looking"
Another huff escapes his lips, but then he sighs and gives up, slowly walking with Guin to the doorway.
He's still not so sure about this "dad" stuff.. even if he's not even sure that's what he is to Amethyst.
"She is a remarkably smart young lady, I'm sure you're right."
"I often am." Guin preens. "You should listen to me more often."
She softens and gives his forearm a reassuring pat.
"This is new, and you're doing your best. That's all anyone can ask."

making aus for ocs are so funny cause like. theyre already in a situation… but what if they were in a DIFFERENT situation
Amethyst huffed, pushing the door open and heading straight for the freezer. "Well, that was a complete waste of time." She pulled out the tub of cookie dough ice cream and began searching for a spoon.
Winter glances over their shoulder, having been working on a painting. They currently have several large smears of it on their face.
"Hmm? Oh- Hey Amethyst. Date didn't go to plan?"
Amethyst crinkled her nose.
"That's one way to put it."
She perched herself on the counter, scooping ice cream into her mouth. She held up a thumb and forefinger with barely any space between them.
"I was this close to texting people for an excuse to leave. It just would've been a matter of who turned up first."
She tilted her head, looking over Winter's shoulder at the canvas.
"Whatcha workin on?"
"That bad, eh?"
Winter winces slightly, though also chuckles a bit. Amethyst's dramatic reaction to her own bad date was kinda funny.
"Nothing big, just trying to paint a portrait of one of my cats again."
They hold up a half finished painting of a white feline.
"Looks good."
Amethyst scoops up another spoonful of cookie dough.
"I didn't think it'd be that bad, right? He's cute, age appropriate, and shares a college class with Parker, so I know there's supposed to be a brain in his head."
She pauses a moment, letting the cold sweetness ease her frustration.
"First, he was late, which is forgivable. It can be difficult to get anywhere on time in this city. Then he tells me that my dress is 'doing great things for my body' and tries to touch me"
Amethyst made a disgusted face. "We hadn't even sat down yet, by the way."
Winter sets their painting back down, and grins.
"Thanks!"
They chirp, stepping over to where she is to start cleaning paint off themself. As they do, they listen quietly. When Amethyst reaches the part about this date trying to touch her, their head turns in her direction, a hint of protectiveness showing on their face.
"You'd just met and he was already trying to slide to second base?"
Amethyst rolled her eyes.
"Not that obvious, it would have saved me some time if he was. He was trying to be subtle and 'gentlemanly'. The whole, hand on the small of the back to guide, thing. And when it's genuine and called for, it can be sweet. But it takes a certain type of man to be able to pull this kinda thing so early and get away with it, and this guy was about 75 years and several wars too late."
Amethyst pulled another spoon from the drawer and offered it to Winter.
"Things are kinda ok once we're seated, y'know general getting to know you stuff. He says I'm too pretty to be an engineer, by the way, and then made some bad joke about chemistry in bed"
"Ugh, I hate the "too pretty" comments."
Winter steps over with a groan, taking the spoon, and scooping a bit of ice cream for themself.
"What was the final straw?"
They look irritated by this guy, but they had calmed down a bit after they realized he hadn't tried anything gross.
Amethyst let out a slow exhale.
"After that?"
She set her spoon and the ice cream down and started counting on her fingers.
"I could barely get a word in. He made comments about what I ordered. He made comments about what I needed to change to impress his mother 'in the long run'."
She lifted some of the purple curls from her shoulder with a scoff.
"This is 'too unnatural.' But I decided to walk out after I asked him how well he knew Parker, he didn't answer. He just told me that 'that would have to stop.' That he was 'the only man I was allowed to talk to'."
She resumed her ice cream.
"Like ew. Who the fuck does this guy think he is?"
"Ugh, sounds like someone insecure and uncomfortable with honest self expression to me."
Winter lets out a faint grumble, but then slowly chuckles.
"Probably for the best though. If he thought your hair was unnatural, what would he have done when you told him you're not even human?"
That thought is funny to them, and a small chuckle escapes them.
Amethyst nodded, agreeing around her spoon.
"Mmhm. And control issues on top of that. 'Not allowed' even my father doesn't try that crap."
She snorted lightly, leading into a quiet laugh.
"Honestly, that thought hadn't even crossed my mind, I was waiting for the phrases 'high value man' or 'traditional values' to fall out of his mouth."
She smirked.
"I told him, 'Good luck finding a human pet', and walked off."
Amethyst huffed, pushing the door open and heading straight for the freezer. "Well, that was a complete waste of time." She pulled out the tub of cookie dough ice cream and began searching for a spoon.
