Summer Places by Brendan Gill and Dudley Witney (1978)
Ultimately better call saul reminds us not to gaslight your brother until he kills himself
today's music in public post: new frontier AND rikki don't lose that number in kroger
we went to the meijer gardens and saw the chihuly stuff they've got right now, my god the place was overrun. i know we were part of the problem because we were also there but still. when i looked at a map before we went i was like "there's no way they fill up these endless parking lots" and i was very wrong. anyway it was fun! highly recommend shelling out for the indoor gallery. honestly my favorite chihuly stuff is the baskets and seaforms.
the recent new listens
sorry i'm busy that day. yeah i'm listening to music and reading the lyrics and annotations on genius and reading reviews. ... no it's just for fun. yeah it's gonna be all day.
Hookup culture is so convoluted these days and I don't meant that in a way that is dismissive of the act in of itself but rather that you used to be able to just have a few drinks with a girl and then she'd put her eggs in you or vice versa nd then maybe you'd stack colored pebbles together for a few hours but nowadays she always has to try and poison your wine which I suppose I can't really complain about because I also try to poison hers while slipping antidote into mine but she does the same so we get mad at each other and grapple for a while and then she stings me with her stinger or injects venom into me with her fangs or what have you and THEN finally gets to the oviposition. It all just feels a bit overcomplicated to me and you can't even stack colored pebbles afterwards because you're still paralyzed from the venom
my darling who is way better read in scifi than me had us read the child garden by geoff ryman, and it was one of the more original things i've read in a long time!!! that being said i have a higher tolerance for the silly and weird stuff than this reviewer but this last paragraph rings true
i'm like 15 minutes into longlegs and i'm already thinking i could have rewatched silence of the lambs, zodiac, cure, manhunter... also i only just now learned osgood perkins is a child of anthony perkins???
also an evil outside force killing whole families is very sinister (2012)
i see the fbi in longlegs is the same fbi in nbc hannibal that hires people they probably shouldn't have and lets them keep working when they're clearly not fit to / may or may not be in league with a serial killer
so how does nicolas cage choose the victims anyway? birth announcements in the newspaper?

am i embarrassed we watched these because of the youtube algorithm instead of learning about them in a cooler way such as being born with the knowledge? a little
today's public diary entry: we've been on a very long journey of trying to put curtains up. and by we i mean me because i've been the mastermind and made all the decisions. choosing the curtains, choosing the brackets and rods, buying a stud finder, buying a drill, buying the screws, realizing the screws were not going in the wall without drilling a pilot hole and going back to the hardware store to buy drill bits. every step of this has been its own day because im lazy. but finally i had a day off work and all the tools i needed and i put the curtains up. it's over!!!!! unless they fall down.
seeing "simple fit because skinny is the outfit" content get mainstream enough that i'm just recently seeing people talk about it is really interesting, because about 6 months ago i was complaining to my bf about the very thing that that phrase is expressing. i was ruminating on how many fashions are inaccessible to me because the body is part of the look and my body isn't compatible with the look. so many looks are legible because of the body, a slip dress is a good example. of course i can wear a slip dress but it's not the same look on me as it is on, idk, kate moss. because the body is the look. the people making this content are so weird for it, i want to make a parody like "low rise jeans because the muffin top is the outfit"
i'm your only friend (realizes that's statistically unlikely) i'm not your only friend (considers my positive qualities) but i'm a little glowing friend (suddenly gets cold feet) but really i'm not actually your friend (remembers to be confident in relationships) but i am
