- I feel like an In/Spectre AU for KR W would be so fun but. Who becomes who?
- It’s easy to assign the ‘god(dess) of wisdom’ role to Philip, him being the child of fate + gaia library thing, but Kuro’s position as the ‘cursed child unknowingly turned into a literal monster by the greed of his family + family issues and very specifically the complex relationship with a female relative who’s up to no good but you still love dearly’ schtick is also so very Philip.
- (AH! And that Wakana and Philip… have the same powers…)
- I feel like ‘dying and reviving to grasp the future’ is also something that could be fun to weave and recontext- for Philip and his lookups + fainting when they henshin… he exits his body, retrieves information/changes the outcome of a situation, and comes back ltr, just this time in a more violent way. Yeah I can roll with this.
- in Shoutaro’s case, yeah putting him Kuro’s role, the ‘muscle’ of the duo, is again, easy to see (plus ‘black’ theme) but here me out.
- Yokai coming to their god with the problems in a not dissimilar way to Fuuto’s--citizens coming to the agency seeking their detective…
- and wisdom ≠ book smarts, the god of wisdom’s role is not to tell the yokai facts, but to appease them and present to them unorthodox solutions to unorthodox problems.
- Plus like. While Kotoko chose the role and the sacrifices that came with it bc she was interested/cool w it, Shoutaro would… also partially do it for the same reasons bcos it sounds sick as hell but.
- But. Looking at out at these menagerie of irregular creatures asking for a god, a mediator between their dying realms and the fast moving modern one thats rapidly eating away at them, seeking to hold on to a place in this world… could Shoutaro ever look at someone asking for help and say no? The answer is no. Never.
- WAIT. ok so in doing this we have put Wakana into Rikka’s role, but where will Akiko and Terui go? It would feel quite empty without them… hmm the irregulars could be yokais… oh where does Oyassan go too…
- Shoutaro as the unwanted son of a rich family who were super disappointed their son came back alive after he went missing (albeit minus an eye and leg) but efforts to rid themselves of him were thwarted by unknown, seemingly supernatural means so they’ve just decided to leave him alone and pretend he’s not there?
- Hmmm i feel like my desire for angst is leaking through this suggestion for backstory. I’ve heard that it’s canon that Shoutaro is an orphan (dead parents is something the main w cast all share huh) but the reasons are vague? Or just smth ive not come across. Could just have no parents in this au but i feel like i really want the juxtaposition of Shoutsro’s Shoutaroness and his rich young master background.
- Ah lets have Shoutaro’s missing limbs be the right side for this AU for themes.
- Do you think Shoutaro would get fancy ‘cool’ looking glass eyes for fun. Random question
- Philip is also from a family of renown he’s just very much not in contact with them. I do think its more convenient here to axe Fumine and Ryubei out, but i’m unwilling to do the same to Saeko bcos of bias. As in I like Saeko a lot and don’t really wanna see her leave, but i haven’t quite worked out her place in this story.
- It would make Wakana and Phillip’s estrangement to a still existing powerful family more plausible if Saeko’s the current head though. She would be more than happy to keep them at arms length, but a motive for understanding the value of their power and yet not seeking it… perhaps she did consume the flesh too, but instead of powers it just marred her and etched the price into her existence. Yes, a deep understanding of how terrible this power is would be needed…
- I have been spelling Philip’s name inconsistently throughout this haven’t I.
- Hmm Narumi (Sokichi) as the detective who originally investigates Shoutaro’s disappearance? Perhaps patrolman Jinno, always a good friend to that lonely child he often encountered during his patrols, had flagged it to him, citing the unusualness of how quickly the missing person’s case had been dropped.
- Narumi had pinned it on the parents at first, a reasonable deduction when they seemed completely nonplussed by their son’s disappearance. It flabbergasted all related parties when Shoutaro did reappear shortly after in such odd circumstances- out of thin air in the middle of the night on a park bench, horrifically missing an eye and leg but oddly
- Narumi had approached the boy after the case was technically ‘closed’ out of curiosity, and perhaps they naturally fell into company after. A Especially as Shoutaro began to crop up in ‘coincidences’ around Narumi’s more strange cases… so strange one might say they seem almost supernatural…
- Huh should Melissa and Matsu be here.
- OK so the movie reason of Narumi not seeing Akiko ever was bcos he had unremovable spider bombs on him that would kill Akiko if they ever came into contact but like. Uhm. For this AU… a more plausible/simpler reason why Narumi isn’t in contact w Akiko much would probably be bcos he’s divorced.
- more thoughts to follow after like. Thoughts are sorted.
