Can u write gn reader/female x mike where reader get hurt after s5ep4 incident? Fluff, maybe argue? Idk, i trust u)
from the moment vecna showed up, walking right through the gate, everything went by in a blur. the remaining soldiers who hadn't been killed by the demogorgons, had tried to fight. but really by now, it should be known that bullets and guns have no effect on vecna. the soldiers were all killed. you'd been with mike, trying to get derek and the other girl away to safety. you'd ran across the base, to get behind some car. you remember having the little girl behind you, trying your best to shield her as a demogorgon flipped the car over and lunged at you. you had grabbed some long piece of metal of the ground and taken a swing at it, in an attempt to stop it. that's the last thing you remember. after that, it all goes blank. what you know now, is that you'd been thrown out the way by it, hitting your head against a building and blacking out. you can feel the ache of it in your bones now. you also know, that the kids have all been taken, dragged away into the upside down by the demogorgons. and finally, you now know that will has powers... apparently.
the crumpled body of the demogorgon had fallen just in front of mike, the bones of it snapping in a way so eerily familiar. you'd opened your eyes just long enough to see it, through blurred vision. to feel the spike of fear as you watched it come forward to towards mike, and then the confusion when it stopped, froze, and levitated.
after that, vecna was gone, retreated into the upside down, with the kids. joyce had immediately ran for will, who'd slumped down onto the ground from the exertion. and mike, well mike had gone straight for you.
you were now slumped over the backseat in a battered army tank, your head in mikes lap. joyce, ever quick to think, had immediately herded you all in there once she'd spotted it. she'd dragged will into the front seat, where he still sat now, head in his hands. joyce was saying something to him, in hushed tones, as the car sped down some road. you didn't know where you where going. perhaps to WSQK building? you really aren't sure.
mike is looking out the window, his expression stony, brows knitted tightly into a frown. his hand is gently cradling your head in his lap, a gentle gesture that juxtaposes the expression he wears. he tosses between anxious looks at you, the window, and will.
your mouth feels dry, when you quietly whisper; "mike?"
his eyes snap down to yours, widdenning a little. "you okay? stay awake." he says, voice strained. you can't really place the look in his eyes. there's worry, sadness, and a tinge of anger.
"i'm awake- where- where are we going?" you say, trying to use your arms to push yourself up. his hand lands on your chest, gently pushing you back to lay down.
"the squawk. just- stay still please. don't know if anythings broken." when he says that you become even more away of the ache in your bones, the way the back of your head is screaming in pain, in the spot you presumably hit it. you bite down on your tongue, watching mikes face. he looks away from you now, back to the window.
"mike?" you repeat. he looks back, sharply. "yeah?" he says, and his voice carries an edge, a tone, that doesn't sit quite right with you.
"what's wrong?" you say, despite the fact you know there are about a million things wrong, but your not sure which one of them specifically caused him to be acting this way towards you.
"nothing. just, stay still." he says, his tone carrying that same clipped edge.
"tell me what it is." you say, carefully, testing to see his reaction. he pulls his hand away from where it lay on your chest just before, and drags it along his face, sighing.
"i just don't get why you tried to fight back- why you didn't just run from it." he says, finally.
"the demogorgon?" you say, confused. "mike- it had me corned i had no choice?"
"you could have tried to run. get away." he says, his gaze leaving yours and moving to out the window.
your chest aches a little, and not just from the impact of you hitting the wall.
"so your saying it was my fault the girl was taken?" you hiss back, after casting a look to the front seat to make sure joyce and will are still occupied.
"no, god that's not what i'm saying. you just- you could have been more careful. then you wouldn't have gotten hurt." he says, his voice almost exasperated.
"you put yourself in unnecessary danger." he cuts in, sharply.
you frown, opening your mouth to say something when the car comes to a halt. mikes gaze snaps to the window.
"we're here." joyce says from the front seat, already unbuckling her belt and opening the door, presumably to go and get will out from his side. he's still hunched over, not talking. joyce pulls open the passenger door, gently guiding him out and wrapping one of his arms around her shoulder, shutting the door behind him.
you pull yourself up off of mikes lap, watching as joyce and will limp over to the building. faintly, you can see robin in the distance. you turn back to mike.
"i was already in danger just by being there. i did my best- i don't, i don't get why you're mad at me."
his hand has moved to linger on the door of the car, as if going to open it.
"maybe you just shouldn't come then. just stay here- at the squawk. it's too risky." he says, maintaining his gaze out the window.
you blink rapidly, anger flaring up. "i can handle myself mike. you know this- jesus i've been through all the same things you have."
"its different now though! its real. and i can't have you- i can't have you getting hurt." he snaps, finally opening the car door and stepping out. your left, stunned a into silence. the door is ajar, and he's already began walking off in the direction of the building. you watch as he comes to halt, shaking his head before turning back to the car.
"can you walk?" he says, quickly, eyes scanning you.
"i don't need your help." you say, but you wince when slide across the seat and try to stand. your hands clutch onto the hood of the car, steadying yourself.
he's behind you in seconds, one hand wrapping carefully around your waist and the other resting on your shoulders.
"sure you don't." he says, quietly, as he steadies you.
you scoff, but let him prop you up, and gently guide you away from the car. his hand around your waist feels heavy, the touch lingering. silence hangs in the cool air of the night. the lights from inside the WSQK building stream out, gently illuminating the space before you.
after a pause, mike says softly; "i just don't like to see you hurt. and i couldn't-" he pauses, before adding. "i don't know what i'd do if anything happened to you."
you slow down a little, making him come to a halt. his hand is still firmly around your waist, when you turn to him. "just say that then." you say, voice soft. your eyes flicked over his expression, the cut across his cheek, the frown creasing his forehead. he lets out a slow hum. "okay then."
you smile, softly. he pulls you a little closer, letting his arms wrap around you, and your head to fall against his shoulder. he lets out a long breath, leaning back just an inch so he can softly kiss your forehead. you smile against his shoulder.
"can we get inside now- i think i need some ice. like, immediately." you say.
that earns a low laugh from him. "yeah, yeah alright then."
