A few months ago I started drawing my own ENA OC. Though thanks to my fear of the internet and being a student I didn’t post any of my work so today I decided to post my work starting as far back as April of this year.
Meet DNA, a part of the ENA species and a renowned geneticist in her field of work! This is her first ever design before I slowly tweaked her design over the next few months.
Here I decided to mess around drawing her. Initially I was not at all satisfied with her design feeling it was too heavily inspired by DBBQ ENA in design and I wanted to stray away and make my own ENA. Having her already based in biology was one part but it was the struggle in making her design unique was the hardest part.
Mr. Electric was reworked into being Mr. Anatomy one of DNA’s two spouses. Though the idea of making a neural network a npc was viable it didn’t feel quite right to me and my design was personally a bit plain so I gave it new life by taking inspiration from those old anatomy dolls and the game Operation!
In these images I experimented with DNA’s design and came up with the designs for Mr. Anatomy and Mx. New-Plane (Yes their ship name is DNA don’t judge me pls). I also came up with a npc called Cellius which is just a cell with limbs.
Mr. Anatomy is based on the following Operation game, and old anatomy dolls as stated above and a neuroscientist. He is by far my favorite design of the three. Since he’s practically like Mr potato head you can put his limbs wherever or put some random thing in there. He can be whole but it’s more fun to have him be in parts.
Mx. New-Plane is a multi dimensional being and a physicist. It’s made up of 2D, 3D, and 4D objects only his 3D arm and leg visible or incomprehensible to the lesser trained eye. Probably the most mischievous of the three but nonetheless take their job just as seriously.
Here’s another attempt of me trying to make an intro but I don’t have the slightest idea how to animate at all. When I do eventually learn I do plan on making this and bringing DNA to life one day!
If all three had normal human names DNA would be Diane, Anatomy would be Antonio, and New-Plane would be Naphtali.
These are expression tests. Most will be scrapped but I like the general ideas I made for each side of DNA and plan to expand on them eventually.
P.S. sorry for not posting lately! Been really caught up with college and work! I hope to continue posting and hopefully set a schedule for myself to post! I will continue to make art and I hope you all support me on my journey as an artist!
