Mark Your Calendar: The 5 Movies to Watch This Summer
Three look-alike sets of best friends, played by Saif Ali Khan and Ritesh Deshmuhk, are unaware of each other or their three look-alike uncles, played by Ram Kapoor (^ just look at the picture ^). In what seems to be yet another take on the comedic aspect of male lead trifectas, hilarity will probably ensue.
Why you need to watch it:
If Bollywood comedy is your favorite genre, you'll probably love this movie, which bears similarities to Sajid Khanâs popular movie Housefull. And while the other two leadâs cross-dressing  may give you flashbacks of cringe-worthy Bollywood slapstick, Ritesh Deshmuhk honestly looks like he should be part of the female cast - heâs gorgeous!Â
While the story line promos remain purposefully elusive, the trailers depict the tried and true concept of a bad boy, Sidharth Malhotra, opening up to and falling in love with the angelic philanthropist, Shraddha Kapoor. Until, randomly, Ritesh Deshmuhk turns up and things go awry - or so it seems at least. Did I mention the trailers are elusive?
Why you need to watch it:
Besides the obvious eye-candy (Shraddha and Sid are a good looking duo to put it lightly), the music in this movie is phenomenal. And with the elements of a good love-story and a psycho thriller, it appeals to both guys and girls alike. Date night anyone?
Vidya Balan, plays a quirky young woman who opens up her own detective agency, Bobby Jasoos, against all odds and is given a seemingly dangerous assignment by a shady benefactor after a slew of menial assignments. *Whew* Oh and thereâs some family drama and a cute beau played by Ali Fazal.
Why you need to watch it:
Besides the consistent track record from Vidya Balan for simple, yet high quality movies, its a refreshing change to see a confident heroine succeed on screen with nothing but her own conviction. Reminiscent of Queen, the de-glamorized portrayal of the story makes it not only potentially relatable, but much more enjoyable too; is this movie at the top of anybody elseâs âMust Watchâ list?
4. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania
Humpty Sharma, played by Varun Dhawan, and his college friend, Kavya, played by Alia Bhaat, share a love-hate friendship that turns romantic after a trip they take together - now it's up to Humpty to intervene in her pending nuptials to âimpressiveâ Angad, played by Siddharth Shukla. Sound familiar? Throw a stern father in the mix and its a fiestier shade of DDLJ.
Why you need to watch it:
If you liked the chemistry between the real-life couple and leads in Student of the Year, this movie promises to dish up more of that modern, snarky, college-in-India romance so popular in movies these days. This is your best choice for a typical, but fun and colorful Bollywood affair. Unless, of course, Humpty doesnât get the girl in the end...but who are we kidding, right?
5. Lekar Hum Deewana Dil
Dino and Karishma, played by newcomers Armaan Jain and Deeksha Seth, who are tired of old Indian conventions, decide to elope and paint the town red.
Why you need to watch it:
From the makers of Cocktail and Love Aaj Kal, this movie is your 2nd go-to, young, summer-time, Bollywood âmasalaâ movie. Thereâll be laughter, tears, songs, dance, love, drama...and tons of predictability, but hey, thatâs why we love Bollywood right?
