“– I did try to do that but you don’t answer your phone. You can’t blame me for that. I know you do but I like to have the option to see the movie whenever I want.”
“Really? I must need a new phone or something because it never lets me know when you ring. There’s also the option where we could watch it together. I’ll order delivery too.”
“That is exactly what I do for a living, you nailed it. Hate to break it to you, but this is already awkward. I came to warn you to lock your door or anyone, such as myself, could just walk in.”
“Some life you got there, miss. Yeah, figures. Thank you, I appreciate the warning. I’ll be sure to lock and bolt tenfold next time. Last thing I want is to die in the shower.”
“That’s an understatement.”
“Alright then, maybe lots of shots and food?”
“But its not one of those burgers that uses two whole donuts as buns.”
“Dude I totally forgot about those. You got me there. Do they have that here?”
Feet landing swiftly on the floor, Cass closed the window almost silently behind her rolling her eyes slowly as she spun on the wet floor, “Relax, I’ll be gone in five. — Awkward? What are you, a grown man, or twelve years old?”
“I don’t know if it’s just me but when someone randomly shows up in my place, I’m pretty damn skeptical. Why are you even in here?”
“Hey I told you that I was coming over for my dvd – you should really learn to not keep them for so long – then we wouldn’t have this issue, Anthony.”
“Nat! You could have at least given me a head’s up. I was about to pul ow my reflexes. I can’t help it, I love me a good film.”
“Its what I do best, bro. Only awkward if you don’t enjoy it.”
“Wait, what?! It’s creepy dude, do people not care if you do that? Not to mention it’s my bathroom in my place?”
“You wouldn’t have thought it weird?” Shocked, internally, that he would have stood there, Octavia found herself unsure as to how to respond eloquently and that jumble of idiotic words came out. “Well, when you put it that way, it doesn’t sound creepy. You’ve just… got a nice face? If I can say that.”
“I think it’s weird but I don’t think it’s so bad.” He tilted his head to the side, shrugging his shoulders. He didn’t see any threat with her so he didn’t see a need to fret. Albeit, in this town, it was always good to maintain your guard. He rose his eyebrows, smiling wide. “Thank you, you do too.”
“Do you randomly walk in on people when they’re showering for a living? It better be good. Because this is awkward.”
“Wait!… you’re kidding right?”
“No, I kid you not. Best burger ever.”
“It was nothing all right? For the fifth fucking time, I’m fine…”
“Yeah, sure looks like it. You look like you could use a drink.”
Embarrassment settled thickly over her, making her skin feel stretched too thin just like the awkward smile she gave. “Uhm… yeah? Sorry. I was a bit bored and you were standing there for a while.” It was a good distraction from the music and the constant wondering of if she should even bother to try to make connections with anyone because it seemed right when she did, it was time to leave again. “I know it’s creepy. I’m really sorry. W-wait, what? You think it’s good?”
“I could have stood still specifically if you wanted me to.” He offered, not minding the idea one bit. He admired her art. As cheesy as it deemed, he really was intrigued by the works of others. “I don’t think it’s creepy, honestly. You could have chosen anyone else here to draw. But here you are, with my face on your paper.” He gestured a hand towards the picture, giving her a reassuring smile. “Don’t be sorry. I think it’s beautiful. You should keep going.”
“One month suspended without pay. Shit. Next round is on you.”
“Sounds fine by me. Why the hell did you get suspended though?”
“You should see the view from up here –”
“It looks nice but don’t ruin it by fallin’ down or something.”
“He is pretty adorable. Thank you. He’s kind of my first dog, or pet really, so I’m glad someone else approves of my choice. Do you have any pets?”
“Really? You seem like someone who’s had dogs their whole lives. But that’s not a bad thing. No, I never gave it much thought in having one. Sounds like a good idea now, actually.”
The fabric now hung loosely from her slender frame but funnily enough the shifter wasn’t overly concerned about that and in fact was more amused by the stranger mistaking their shirts “I like it like this.” she tells him while doing a little twirl “Might make it my new sleeping shirt.” which wasn’t a lie for the most part, though she usually slept in nothing. Picking a few leaves from her hair, Vienna lazily attempted to look for her shoes while giving him a small smile “I like to walk through the woods naked. Probably weirder than yours but hey, can’t help what we like, right?”
He nodded his head slowly, kind of surprised how she reacted to her shirt now being twice the size she was. At least no harm was done for the most part. Though he wasn’t certain how to respond to her when she claimed she’d sleep in it. It wasn’t his shirt so it didn’t matter. The hunter blinked a few times in astonishment. “Wait, you’re telling me you walk here butt naked? You don’t care who sees you? That’s freakin’ bold.” He commented.
