Can someone explain to me why governments put so much effort into supporting our economy and so little effort into supporting our environment, when the strength of our economies literally relies on the health of our environment?

WAKE UP PEOPLE! This virus is the Earth’s immune system kicking in. We cannot continue to allow the Earth to warm or much worse pandemics will come along. Plus a new ice age.
Climate change is having one of the coldest Novembers on record and then one of the warmest Decembers.
Conserving water
There are several reasons to conserve water. In dry areas of the world, water is a precious resource in short supply. However, even in less dry areas, water conservation is important. Many large cities import water from other locations. This can cause environmental changes in the areas that supply the water because water is no longer available to the plants, animals, and humans that live there. In addition, per the www.nrdc.org website, the collection, distribution, and treatment of drinking water and wastewater nationwide (in the US) consume tremendous amounts of energy and release approximately 116 billion pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year – as much global warming pollution each year as 10 million cars. Energy is used to get the water to the plant that treats it to make it safe to drink. Energy is used to pump the water to your home. Energy is then used to treat the water after it goes into the sewer at your home. Ideas to consider to help conserve water (and energy);
· If you have drips or leaks in your plumbing, fix them. Repairs to leaky faucets can sometimes be as simple as putting in a new washer.
· Don’t leave the water running any longer than necessary to accomplish your task. Don’t leave the water running while you brush your teeth or wash vegetables – turn the water on and off as you need it.
· When buying new toilets, dishwashers, clothes washers, etc., look for low-water models.
· Make sure you’re not overwatering outdoor plants and lawns. Experiment to find the least amount of water you can use while still having healthy plants.
Consider low-water alternative landscaping. I personally don’t like xeriscaping with rocks, as then the land is not available to support local animals, birds, and insects, but there are plenty of low-water plants and techniques that will also support the local critters.
Don’t eat animal products and you not only conserve water but reduce water pollution.
So what are the moral and ethical issues of bringing a child into a world that is now so fucking fucked??

Never mind the long term impact of destorying an entire ecosystem. There is zero logic in indefinitely growing an economy on such a finite planet with finite resources.

Ok so, the cloud of smoke over the city is from the burning of Amazon rainforest in Rondonia. Sao Paulo is 3300km (2052 miles) distant from Porto Velho. Athens is closer to London than Sao Paulo is to Porto Velho. Just to give you an idea of the damage they are doing to the forest right now, with the permission from the human trash president. Just so you guys from other countries have an idea of what's happening here in Brazil.

Look they've been burning the forest it's been 15 days now and people have died already in the fires. So the least I hope that the media will actually pay attention to Rondônia and the forest now that's affect São Paulo. The media here in Brazil is trying to take the attention away from the fires saying that what covered SP today as fog because of a cold wave, but many people already said: it's not fog, it's smoke. And if you're shocked about São Paulo sky, this is Rondônia where they are burning the forest:
So yeah, they are destroying the biggest ecosystem that is the Amazon right now. And the world must know.
Because if we depend on the media, the death of the Amazon won't be televised.
This is what humans incessant need for animals and animal products is doing. Valuable rainforests are being cleared and destroyed to raise both crops and livestock for consumption. Eat all the meat you want now but don’t bitch then when the planet starts to die, and we can no longer grow crops due to infertile soil and pollution. Don’t complain then when your diet consists of taking nothing but supplements because we are no longer able to get nutrients from our food or even produce food.
If all the worms on the earth were to die today, life would cease to exist in 12-18 months. If all the insects on earth died today, life would cease to exist in 2.5-4 years. If all the humans died today, life on earth would flourish.
we have maybe 12 years left in our ecosystems and natural resources. 12 viable years left before the tropical and temperate rainforests are gone, the marine and aquatic ecosystems die out, the artic circle disappears, the grasslands and prairies become arid, and the basic food web and life systems become disrupted. 12 years before we no longer have access to oil, running water, electricity or conveniences and luxuries. Scarce access to clean water, clean air, clean food. No more societal structure; war, famine, disease, drought. All this and more. life as we know it will cease to exist... I’m giving it 12 years.
It’s real and it’s coming
The Earth is not a private estate for humans. The land and other Earthlings are not just for humans to benefit off of. We as a species need to learn how to coexist with others and tread lightly on this earth rather than try to dominate everything we can.
