Marvin the Martian Headcanons
Marvin, you adorable little alien you. I know how much Tumblr loves him, so here are my headcanons for this martian man!
-Marvin doesn’t actually have the genuine desire to blow up or conquer the Earth. That was for his cartoons (can’t blow up the place you were made on after all). What Marvin REALLY wants is peace but when you’re a part of the Looney Tunes, peace is sparsely seen.
-One of Marvin’s faults is that he’s emotionally stunted and very numb to things in general. He often doesn’t know how to express emotions properly.
-Has a very black and white viewpoint. To him you either do something or you don’t. Or one point or another. There is no in between for him.
-He sometimes struggles to reign in his more…violent urges. There have been times where he has pulled out a gun on a human and the other Looney Tunes have had to dissuade him from firing it.
-After his first cartoon, Marvin had a period of not speaking for a while (being that he hated how his original voice sounded) as he and Mel Blanc tried to figure out what voice worked for him. When they finally landed Marvin’s soft, calm tone, it was like a breath of fresh air to the toon Martian.
-Whenever Marvin gets really genuinely angry, he curses in nonsensical words. He often doesn’t even realize that he does it until it’s directly pointed out to him.
-Marvin does not like being nicknamed. He insists that people refer to him as Marvin the Martian. Only the Looney Tunes can just call him Marvin…and only Wile E., Daffy, and Bugs can call him Marv.
-Marvin occasionally wonders if he has a lifespan that’ll make him outlast the other Toons should they ever be forgotten and disappeared. He doesn’t exactly like that theory.
-In general, Marvin’s biology is weirder than most of the Looney Tunes because of being an alien toon. He’s a little self-conscious and a wee bit sensitive about this. The Looney Tunes don’t judge and offer support in their own way.
-Continuing from the above, Marvin once had antennae in one of his pre-final designs before they were removed. Sometimes, he still feels the phantom feeling of them.
-Being that Marvin doesn’t have a mouth, the other Looney Tunes have learned to read Marvin's eye expressions scarily well. They can easily tell what he's feeling, something that's unnoticeable to backgrounders.
-Unlike many classic Toon outfits, Marvin’s red leotard, roman skirt, and sneakers CAN be taken off…though Marvin only found this out before production started on the 2003 Duck Dodgers series. The suit and sneakers are indestructible. The skirt is not.
-Marvin doesn’t like being seen without his helmet on. Not only does his helmet project who he is, it also hides the fact that he’s pretty much bald underneath (which he’s very sensitive about). It was a miracle they managed to convince him to wear a hunter’s hat in the Duck Dodgers episodes K-9 Quarry and a bandana in the pirates’ episode.
-Because Marvin was designed and created with intelligence in mind, he’s physically very weak. He’ll often struggle to lift heavy items. This embarrasses the hell out of him.
-Marvin has a fascination with taxidermy (and even participates in it). He has an entire collection of "preserved" animal replicas of the Looney Tunes. This deeply disturbs the other Looney Tunes. Marvin doesn't understand what the issue is.
-Sometimes, Marvin wishes he could visit real-life Mars. He secretly has a ton of unsent letters to NASA asking if he can join one of their space missions to visit the red planet.
-Marvin has a secret interest in ballet. His favorite ballet show would have to be Giselle…probably because of the more darker elements.
-The rare times Marvin eats something, it will almost ALWAYS be something a human considers “raw” and “inedible.” His favorite? Dry and uncooked pasta. He also really likes unpeeled fruit and raw nuts. Honestly, the rest of the Looney Tunes don’t know whether to be amused or disturbed.
-Marvin fears being left behind. He deeply worries that one day, he'll outlast all the other Looney Tunes due to his Toon alien biology....even long after they've been forgotten by the public/audience.
-Similar to Wile E., Marvin is one of the more popular Looney Tunes with human female fans. And just like Wile E, Marvin has often gotten letters and notes of admiration. Marvin…fails to understand.
-K-9 isn't just Marvin's "sidekick", he's also Marvin's best friend. K-9 sometimes acts as a guide when he notices Marvin struggling in social situations or emotional support for Marvin when the Martian is really going through it.
-Out of all the Looney Tunes, he’s closest to Wile E. They often collaborate on projects together, and he’s earned enough of Wile E.’s respect to be one of the few Toons allowed inside his lab.
-Marvin is also close with Bugs and Daffy because of working with them so often. They may tease him a lot, but he genuinely wouldn’t know what to do without it.
-Marvin and Invader Zim have a surprisingly wholesome (if chaotic) friendship. That’s because Zim is surprisingly not as insane as the cartoons portray him to be and is much calmer off the screen. It helps that K-9 and GIR are also friends, with GIR helping K-9 to loosen up a little more.
-Marvin and Commander Peepers (from Wander Over Yonder) are pen pals. They often write to each other about their daily lives and give each other advice. They have never met in person because of how private Peepers is but Marvin says he’ll wait for when Peepers is ready.
