my prevous post was about the fact that the people writing those fics are in majority from the west mostly anerican and can’t distingush between difrent slavic leangeges so they asume anything slavic is russian so they don’t even try to check the origins of a name that's what makes it funny

the fact thet there is like 250 fics taged russian castiel is realy funny to me cus many of them go with the trided method of makimg his last name novak and while it’s common in a bunch of slavic countres it’s not russian (as far as i could find the russian version is Novikov wich i think most would agree is not the same name)

what makes it double funny to me is that in my home country poland nowak (pronaunced the same w = v in polish spelling) is the most common last name so it just reads like being in a forien country and somone going "priviet" at me bc i know they don't mean anything bad and don't have the fraction of the historical knowleg to understand why being mistaken for russian is a slap in the face for many slavic people (the context is mostly centurys of forced asimilacion and ereasure of local identity)
