zutara month day 5: soulmate marks

crossroads of destiny but make it soulmate au

based this piece from a soulmate marks prompt ‘where you get flower tattoos wherever your soulmate receives a scar’

i was set on making a piece for day 5 with that prompt but i never really had an idea of what to draw. this was originally a comic set in book 1 during book 1 where zuko sees the burns on katara’s hands and they later deny that they’re each other’s soulmates. i had an entire dialogue set up for the 2 panel comic but i later realized that i cannot(TM) draw book 1 zuko.

adding the dialogue here cause I didn’t want it to go to waste!

For Zutara Month: I'm a huge sucker for Momtara and Dadko. Maybe baby's first trip to the South Pole? And Zuko insists on wearing the baby in a carrier so that he can keep them warm?

originally wasn’t going to participate in day 1 but I couldn’t stop thinking about girl dad zuko so thank u @thegreysunflower-blog for requesting!! i just altered the idea a lil bit ☺️

Lovely commission of Lasallian!Zuko and Iska!Tara on their graduation day by @ecaworks . It’s exactly how @aclashofqueens​ and I envisioned it would be 🌻


Katara is wearing the traditional attire for a UP graduate: white dress (she got a modern Filipiniana “terno” with a crop top because she’s a FASHION ICON) with the UP Sablay. Meanwhile, Zuko is wearing the standard DLSU toga for graduates from the College of Liberal Arts.


Fresh from his own DLSU graduation rites and still wearing his toga, Zuko went straight to UP to see his valedictorian girlfriend! He only marched, posed with University heads on stage, and took a few photos with Ursa, Iroh, and Azula. (Later on, he and Katara would meet up with them again for a celebratory dinner in Shang).


When it was time for Katara to go up on stage and deliver her valedictory speech, Sokka was about to shout “That’s my sister!” but Zuko, being the proud boyfriend that he was, beat him to it.

(Also, just to temper expectations, I was only able to do dialog for one of two animatics, and this one was shorter and more Zuko-heavy so it got picked.) My storyboard does NOT cover the NSFW parts; it is just pining and fluff. At this point in the story, Zuko and Katara have had a passionate kiss in the garden after a lot of yearning and build up to that point (not pictured) but it was interrupted. Katara’s trip to the fire nation is nearing its end. So they have to decide if they tell each other how they feel or leave things unsaid as she is set to leave.
