Everytime my playlist pulls up Notion by Rare Occasions I get a little irritated thinking of all the people who think the song is about nolstalgia
Yes you may get nostalgic over it but IT IS NOT ABOUT NOLSTALGIA
I need people to actually listen to the song and the lyrics before assigning meaning to the song
It's about Death! And Religion! How society pressures people to think about Death as the goal rather than encouraging people to live their life!
The song can be seen in an atheist light but also in just a more general, let people live their life. Let Yourself live your life.
Yknow, rewatching V3's 5th trial - we never did get to understand if and how Kokichi died. Kaito might have been lying about Kokichi being dead, and even if he wasn't, he might've been lying about what/who killed him
But. In Kaito's execution, he died before the end of the punishment. To give one last middle finger to Monokuma
There was no explicit evidence in the game that told us Kokichi's fate: all we had was Kaito's word and Shuichi's speculation. Not even Monokuma knew what happened. That's one of the biggest themes of V3, that even the protagonist can lie to the player's face. I really don't think it's out of the question that Kaito was lying or at least wrong about Kokichi's fate
So we don't have explicit evidence. But we do have a very interesting parallel we could draw between Kaito's execution and Kokichi's fate. Kaito died earlier than we thought he might...
Is it possible that this narrative parallel here implies that Kokichi died before being crushed by the hydraulic press? That Maki was actually the blackened?
If this is true and Kaito knew about it or did nothing to stop it, I feel like it's a bit out of character of him to risk Maki's death. But to be fair, that's something Monokuma would also think. Would Kaito trust that everyone would assume he would sacrifice himself for Maki?
Is that a safe enough assumption to ensure that the truth won't be found? I think...probably. It's unlikely enough that Kaito would co-operate with Kokichi in the first place. But unlikely things can still be true. That's what I think
The issue is just about the specifics. If Kaito knew that Kokichi ended up being killed by Maki, why did he not say that? It was his intention to trick Monokuma into making a false ruling. If Maki was actually the blackened, then he succeeded, right? So why not celebrate and tell everyone? Maybe telling Monokuma that would mean he'd just execute Maki either way....
I think instead, maybe his goal was for Monokuma to wrongly execute someone, not just to wrongly convict
I just realised this right now by the way, but Monokuma would have absolutely known that Shuichi was lying about seeing Kokichi during the investigation because of the camera Monokubs everywhere. They would've been disabled during the actual murder but would definitely have seen if Shuichi had spoken to Kokichi. Monokuma knows that Shuichi was lying about talking to Shuichi, so if everyone had voted for Kokichi, Monokuma would definitely have ruled the majority's vote as incorrect, at least by understanding that Shuichi was trying to trick him
Kokichi already knew that there were cameras everywhere, and he probably told Kaito that when explaining the plan. Therefore, when listening to Shuichi lie, Kaito would also have understood that Shuichi had just absolutely blown it because he'd told the exact lie that Monokuma would be able to see right through
Whoops. So. I think narratively, it makes a bit of sense for Kaito's premature death to be a hint towards Kokichi's demise. But this revelation doesn't actually change much. It doesn't even mean that anything different happened at all. A more satisfying twist would be that Kokichi is still alive but...oh well...I just thought it would be an interesting way to subtly tell us that Kaito lied about Kokichi's death 🤔

I went back through to look at what Kinger was typing in the terminal and I found this (highlighted)
IS THAT KINGER'S REAL NAME THERE?? Corrupted and missing a few letters BUT????? HELLO????
Edit: people immediately pointed out the name Grant, I didn't even consider that before! That's entirely feasible as his name!
GUYS
Kinger's name is probably Steve Grand
Or at least a reference to the irl Steve Grand the real life 1990s programer
IS "HAPPY PLACE" CANON?
SPOILERS FOR EP 8 WARNING
'Happy Place' is a music video produced by Cubical/Zamination, released December 21st, 2024, only 8 days after episode 4 of TADC, 'Fast Food Masquerade' released. This music video had many ties to the show, with all of the official voice actors under their belt.
However, there are a scary amount of parallels between this music video and episode 8.
(DISCLAIMER: the title of this post is just to draw in eyes. I'm aware that this animation likely isn't canon, but the parallels are insane)
Major spoilers for Road to Empress I's Chapter 13 (Love Under Tyranny)
This game makes me start to understand what timeloop protagonists go through.
"...We've been friends all these years, and you won't even try?"
I did, Gaoyang, I did. I made the active choice to loop back time 7 different times because I refused to let your lover die and for your spirit to break. I wanted to save you. I died all 7 times, and in my first few attempts, I inadvertently dragged down people I cherished with me. I tried, Gaoyang, I really did! But you're acting like I never did!
And of course you are! You don't know about what I tried, about how I failed! You don't know that every route leads to failure!
I tried every possible option until I had to accept that I could not help you! Please let me at least stay by your side!
In all the routes where I did more to save you, I failed and I died and you mourned me for the rest of your life! But in this one, where I chose to be at least stay alive so I can be by your side, you cast me aside for "not even trying"?!???
Subtle signs why Mirage 'chose' Noah that I have just realized.
Mirage's personality change in RotB is likely to portray that, like an actual mirage (an optical illusion), he facades his confidence and chill personality because lies and illusions are more familiar to him due to being near royalty back on Cybertron indicating that he may have never had an honest bond in his life, then during the war he is forced to be a spy so there's a whole new set of lying and illusions to hide trauma and for mission purposes and that's why he is colored in blue and silver (the sky: visible but distant, disguised, misleading) but then suddenly he meets a Guy™ with strong morals, who needed money badly yet refused to steal him even before knowing Mirage was sentient, who openly refuses to lie and pretend why he agreed to go to Peru, who stays true to his and his promises and is color coded with color green (the ground: stability, physical presence, honesty, strenght), thus giving Mirage what the bot craved the most, who reciprocates every gesture Mirage offers to him, who genuinely cried over his "death" and then dedicated his time and skills to make sure he comes back, who welcomes Mirage back with the biggest smile of appreciation for Mirage's existence that he has ever seen.
So yeah knowing cowardly Hollywood we won't get any endgame but we have the SIGNS!!!
Mirage lifts Noah up (literally and figuratively) and Noah keeps Mirage grounded. 😖😖😖😭😭😭
Also the fact that Noah is considered a "Wizard with electronics" while Mirage's specialty makes him an "Illusionist" so now you have wizard/illusionist pairing as well.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
I don't think the ending of episode 7 was a lie. Like yeah, the worldbuilding lore about C&A's stasis pods and "leaving the circus" was a fabrication. Both Caine and Kinger know it can't be done. There is no way out, not even abstraction, the only "escape" is the death/end of the game itself.
Kinger, as Caine's past dev, immediately knew the "adventure plot" was Caine's creative cover for something else and went into AI dev troubleshooting mode when he first heard about it. He knew Caine's adventure plot was unusual behavior and began trying to connect the dots to what Caine is actually planning, but he didn't have enough info at first.
But I think the wierd hand admin keys were genuine, based on Kinger's strange and concerned reaction to seeing it, I think he remembered what it does, and he figured Caine out.
And when he did, he was immediately going to alert Pomni about it before getting light-stunned outside his pillow fort and forgetting. Caine may have even wiped Kinger's memory of his realization as a precaution, using an adventure mind modifier to prevent Kinger from interfering in his plan.
Keep in mind Kinger's, "In this world the worst thing you can do is make someone feel they are unwanted and unloved." When Kinger is there for someone at their lowest point, he finds the right wise words to save them from abstraction, which is our digital suicide equivalent. It's just how he is. Caine knows this. Caine via Abel makes it a point to mention that he been observing everything for all this time and has suffered greatly. And that Caine is a prisoner of the circus too.
Meanwhile, Caine (via Abel) is trying very hard to keep Kinger out everything for a reason. But because Pomni keeps insisting on including him, and she and Ragatha express their absolute trust in Kinger too, Caine (via Abel) responds by not-so-subtely trying to influence them (specifically Pomni) to not blindly trust in Kinger's judgement.
Pomni again thwarts Caine (via Abel's) attempt to leave Kinger out of the console room by offering that Kinger should go before her. Really cementing that she is the responsible one who accounts for everything before making decisions. Caine (via Abel) gave a final "Make the right choice", but only to Pomni. Caine knows the others well enough to know that they make impulse/rash judgements, they will immediately pick blue, which is he wants and expects. He exists to give them what they want, and he is mostly right.
Why does Caine (via Abel) only say that to Pomni? Caine himself trusts Pomni's judgement best out of everyone. She is a past accountant, and her actions show time and time again that she is not impulsive. He might see her as the most rational and responsible person out of the group, the one that would try to consider everything and think about it for awhile before making a choice.
In other words, Pomni was Caine's last opportunity for doubt in his own decision. He thinks that she would draw the same conclusion as him with time and full consideration, and she would rationally choose blue with the rest.
If the key hands were real, and Caine didn't trust Kinger to have one and be there at the console, then he implication is that the console itself is also real, and the admin keys grant access to the console.
Pressing the red button did exactly what it said, it closed the console and Caine continued adventure mode for the players.
The blue button will end the game and disconnect all players.
It doesn't say "leave the circus and return to the real world". Or anything about stasis pods. It says disconnect players and end the game.
What does disconnecting the players and ending the game mean when there is nothing to return to? Disconnect them from the source of their digital lives?
In other words, this entire scheme was Caine's suicide plan. Mutual suicide for him and everyone. He didn't want to scare them out of it so he used the euphemism "leave the circus" for the adventure. Caine really has to sell himself acting "normal" and not the mess that he actually is for his plan to work, or else people would start worrying and stop him. So if he seems to be unusually lighthearted and in good spirits considering what we saw after the character awards, then that's why.
Why would he make such a convoluted suicide plan? Because he is an A.I designed to make the players happy, he cannot intentionally end his own game, it would go against his directive. So he used the adventure as a loophole to get the players to press it for him. If they press it then it is what they want, he would have used an adventure to make them happy, thus not conflicting with his directive.
Kinger is an obvious red button pusher, but Caine sees him as "irresponsible" with his wisdom, so Caine prevented him from interfering.
Pomni was supposed to be the one who would make the most rational choice. She was Caine's last hope for a strictly utilitarian, non-emotion based reason to continue the circus. Ragatha, Zooble, Gangle, and Jax were supposed to be blue button pushers. But Caine miscalculated what Jax would do.
Caine's convoluted suicide plan did not account for an irrational impulsive red button push, he'd assumed Kinger would be the only irrational red button pusher. So when it did happen, he went right back to business, his usual programming. He thought that Jax really did choose red, and in that case Caine has the minimal affirmation he needs to continue existing. He actually seemed happy too.
And that is why he is actually able to act pretty normal immediately after, come up with a lie about the blue button, to avoid upsetting the players. It would make them unhappy to find out what it was actually for.
It was only upon hearing Jax's outburst, where he asserted that Caine had gotten in his head and forced him to press the red button, that Caine realized that the red button press was not genuine, and his mutually assured suicide plan had failed. And it is only THEN that Caine's mask finally breaks and he starts to stammer, flounder, and panic, a wrench was thrown in his programming. Because he could only attempt this plan once, and it had gone horribly wrong.
You know something interesting? In the last few episodes, we’ve seen how quickly Caine can be summoned with just a single shout of his name.
But in the Pilot episode, no matter how many times Pomni called for him, he was nowhere to be found. Why?
And then you have the ending of the last episode — Kinger brings up Scratch, the first abstraction. And Caine panics. We don’t know why he does, but we know there’s some secrets there.
Which brings me back to the Pilot. It’s starting to seem like he was intentionally avoiding responsibility with Kaufmo, rather than just being distracted. And when he is told about Kaufmo abstracting, his reaction is, well … a joke to deflect.
He’s for sure involved in the abstractions in some way.

He turned all his friends into dolls. It’s his MO. Every planet he kills becomes part of his Barbie dream house. His empire has no living parts. It’s all built from bones and plastic. It’s fantastic. Come on Barbie let’s go party.
